My Werewolf System - Chapter 1797 Working Together

Chapter 1797 Working Together
The glowing red string was going across Innu’s entire body, and he could feel it being incredibly invasive in a way.
His muscles were suddenly twitching without him consciously moving them. There was this deep, unsettling fear creeping into his mind that there was somebody else standing right behind him, placing several of their cold fingers all over his limbs. He could feel the tension of the aura wrapping around his joints, lightly tugging at his clothes and skin.
“You have to accept it, young one,” Haylock said, his voice calm amidst the chaos. “Let your physical body rest. Don’t react to the enemies yourself, and leave absolutely everything to me. If you don’t do that, then this simply won’t work.”
Just then, one of the regular Glutton Werewolves, moving noticeably faster than the others in the pack, had broken right through the defensive line. When Innu saw the beast leaping toward him with its jaws wide open, his natural survival instincts kicked in. He went to lift his hands up to block the incoming strike, but his arms were restricted slightly by the taut red string holding him back.
Because his own brain was fighting against the pull of the vampire’s aura, he was a little slow as he brought his weapons up. He barely blocked the heavy hit, the Glutton’s claws scraping sparks off the metal handle of his axe. A sudden spike of panic flared in the entirety of Innu’s body.
“Hey! I thought you said this was meant to help each other, but you’re slowing me down!” Innu shouted, gritting his teeth as he pushed the heavy beast back.
“Did you not listen to a word I said? You have to take away all of your own thoughts, all of the frantic actions that you would normally take,” Haylock instructed firmly, his fingers twitching as he adjusted his hold on the strings. “Allow me to use your body, so you can clearly see what is the absolute best that you may become!”
Taking a deep breath, Innu closed his eyes for a brief second. He desperately tried to clear his mind. That’s all he had to do; relax himself right now, stop fighting the pull, and then he would be fine.
As he watched the next wave of monsters approach, he tried to go into an almost meditative state, letting his limbs go slightly limp. Immediately, he could feel the strong pull of the red string moving his body for him.
Without Innu making the conscious decision, his arms whipped upward. The heavy red axes were swung to the side with perfect, calculated precision, knocking the attacking Glutton’s reaching arms completely away. As the beast stumbled from the parry, it quickly came right back in to strike again.
That’s when Innu’s body moved entirely on its own. He stepped smoothly on the inside of the Werewolf’s wide guard. Innu could feel the sheer force of the movement; he was moving even faster than he was before, his boots gliding across the concrete.
Right when he got in close, his arms moved automatically, his axe swinging in a lethal arc right at the Werewolf’s neck. The sharp blade quickly stabbed into the thick flesh. Then, before the beast could even react to the pain, Innu quickly moved to the side. He was suddenly launching high into the air, landing perfectly on the Werewolf’s broad back. Using the elevated position, he swung both axes down, burying the metal deep into the back of its neck and dropping the monster to the floor.
Other Gluttons were quickly approaching their position, looking to avenge their fallen pack member. Innu’s body then flipped gracefully in the air, dismounting the dead beast and landing softly on the ground facing the new threats.
He moved swiftly again. He already had his own Qi flowing through his veins, so he could naturally keep up with the physical speed of the Werewolves, but this experience was entirely different. It felt even more enhanced than that. He was a passenger in his own perfectly tuned machine.
As the next group of Werewolves came close, Innu slammed his right axe brutally into one’s open mouth, completely silencing its roar. He then seamlessly spun his body, fluidly avoiding all of the frantic claw strikes that came his way from the others.
One of the beasts stretched its long arms out to grab him, but Innu was forcefully pulled by the strings. He landed perfectly on the ground, sidestepping the grab, and slammed his left axe right into the Werewolf’s overextended arm, severing the muscle.
Due to the intricate control of the strings, even while completely suspended in the air during a jump, Innu could move in immaculate, impossible ways as Haylock controlled his center of gravity.
He was moving faster, swinging his weapons even harder, and everything he did was incredibly elegant. As Innu finally let his body remain entirely in Haylock’s control, he was effortlessly hitting away all of the Werewolf strikes.
He found himself rapidly dashing in and striking them exactly where it hurt the most, mainly going specifically for their knees and legs to cripple their movement and slow them down.
As he would seamlessly fight his way through the thickest parts of the horde, crippling them one by one, he would eventually circle right back around. With the enemies now crawling on the floor, he was easily able to finish off the ones he had originally attacked without any resistance.
‘I really hate to admit it to a vampire,’ Innu thought, feeling the wind rush past his face as he ducked another blow, ‘but working together with him like this… it really is a completely different thing altogether.’
At the exact same time, standing safely in the rear, Haylock was incredibly impressed himself.
‘I truly can’t believe this human boy’s body is stronger than I originally thought. I was genuinely worried I would have to back off my pulling speed, otherwise his fragile muscles and tendons would completely tear apart under the extreme torque. But his body is holding on to the speed rather well. ’
With the two of them working in perfect, supernatural synergy, they were now completely confident that they could at least hold off the rest of the regular horde at the front gates. Meanwhile, it appeared the others in their alliance were incredibly busy dealing with the far more troublesome, highly mutated Altered Gluttons deeper in the courtyard.
Over by the ruined buildings, Luzen was now standing firmly on the ground. He was continuously firing out constant, high-powered arrows, aiming specifically at the giant, shark-like head of the mutated Werewolf directly in front of him.
The glowing arrows were successfully piercing the thick, gray flesh, but they were only making small, shallow marks that appeared to do absolutely nothing to slow the giant beast down.
Then, the mutated Shark Glutton paused and stared directly at Luzen with its dead, black eyes. It jumped heavily off from its feet, spinning its entire, disproportionately large head around like a wrecking ball.
Luzen swiftly moved to the side, cleanly avoiding the devastating strike. As he did, he saw the Shark Glutton bite down hard as its massive jaws reached something in its path. With a sickening crunch, it completely bit half of a regular Werewolf’s body right off in one single, effortless bite, swallowing the remains whole.
“When it easily destroyed that thick concrete pillar earlier, I knew this specific thing was going to be bad news. But I definitely have to be careful not to get hit by those jaws even once,” Luzen claimed, knocking another arrow and drawing the string back tight.
His eyes narrowed, locking onto his towering target.
“But I was once one of the elite Iron Fangs,” Luzen declared, his voice filled with pride. “I am a Werewolf that was specifically trained to match up directly to the power of the Vampire Leaders. And today, I will show them all that we have entirely surpassed them.”
