“Don’t worry, Vivi. I’m sure your country will be fine,” Shirahoshi said, noticing Vivi’s worried expression.
“I hope so.” But Vivi still couldn’t shake the anxiety.
“And even if the kingdom falls, we’ll help you take it back,” Kalifa added, glancing at her.
Vivi shot Kalifa a look, completely speechless. Was that supposed to be a comfort? If the kingdom really fell, what would happen to her father?
“Crocodile may be one of the Seven Warlords, but he’s not stupid enough to just attack a kingdom outright. Besides, your kingdom is more than it seems,” Shin said, giving Vivi a meaningful look. It was the country that held the secrets of Pluton—of course it wasn’t simple.
The Nefeltari family was no ordinary royal line, they were shrouded in mystery. Vivi herself could probably be considered a Celestial Dragon.
After all, the Celestial Dragons were descendants of the Twenty Kings, and the Nefeltari family was one of the few that had survived the Void Century.
But for all their history, they didn’t have any real powerhouses.
It was their lineage that was special, not their strength. If they could find and use Pluton, then the Alabasta Kingdom would be a force to be reckoned with.
But finding Pluton wasn’t easy.
How many people in this world could even read the Poneglyphs?
Roger couldn’t read the Poneglyphs, but he had the Voice of All Things. He didn’t need to read them. That ability was seriously overpowered. Shin wondered if it was a form of Observation Haki. For all his strength, he didn’t have it.
Vivi looked at Shin, confused. As the princess of Alabasta, she had no idea what was so special about her kingdom.

As Shin and his crew headed for Alabasta, Crocodile got the news.
“You’re telling me Princess Vivi got away on Shin Uzumaki’s ship? And you couldn’t do anything to stop it?” Crocodile’s expression darkened. His face was already menacing, but this news made it downright murderous.
“Yes, we saw Miss Wednesday board the Kuja Pirates’ ship with our own eyes.”
Miss Wednesday was Vivi’s codename in Baroque Works.
“I see. Keep a close watch on the Kuja Pirates’ movements,” Crocodile ordered his subordinate.
He had originally tasked them with monitoring Mihawk, but now, Shin Uzumaki was the bigger priority, especially since he was heading straight for Alabasta.
“Shin Uzumaki… Are you after Pluton too?” After his men left, Crocodile stared into the distance, a ruthless glint in his eyes.
“Even you won’t stop me from getting Pluton!”
For the sake of finding Pluton, Crocodile was willing to make an enemy of Shin. His ultimate goal was to become the Pirate King.
Most pirates on the sea shared that dream. But Crocodile knew he couldn’t achieve it with his own strength, so he was counting on something else to get him there.
Something like the three Ancient Weapons. He was going to use them to become the Pirate King.
So, even against Shin Uzumaki, he wouldn’t back down.
However, unlike in the original story, where he had Robin to decipher the Poneglyphs for him, he now had no one. Finding Pluton had hit a major roadblock.
‘Should I try to work with him?’ The thought crossed his mind.
He acted tough, but deep down, Crocodile was a coward. He was about to face Shin Uzumaki, after all.
The man’s strength was recognized by all pirates as the strongest of the Four Emperors. A fight was out of the question. He knew that much. But he couldn’t give up on Pluton.
“Our power levels are too different. Working with him would be a disaster for me.”
Crocodile felt trapped. He couldn’t win, and he couldn’t cooperate. If he really tried to team up with Shin, he’d be eaten alive.
The smartest move would be to leave now, abandon his plans, and give up on years of work.
But he couldn’t accept that…
He had wasted so much time. If he didn’t find Pluton, it would all be for nothing.
Honestly, if Crocodile had focused on training, he would be at least Admiral-level by now, or close to it. With the Sand-Sand Fruit, a Logia-type, his potential was huge.
But he had been so focused on finding external power that his own strength had stagnated. Now, he was only slightly stronger than a Marine Vice Admiral. The gap was significant.
————
“This is the Alabasta Kingdom,” Vivi said, her face lighting up as she saw her homeland again, eagerly pointing things out to Shin and the others.
The Alabasta Kingdom was a massive country, at least compared to the other small nations in the Grand Line. It was a desert kingdom.
So, while it was a big country, it wasn’t particularly wealthy. Especially since it hadn’t rained in three years. The people were living in poverty.
“It’s a bit poor. Let’s go find Crocodile. I hope he hasn’t run off,” Hancock said, thinking he might have fled. After all, the Kuja Pirates were heading straight for him. He couldn’t possibly not know.
“He probably can’t let go of what he’s chasing here,” Shin said, not worried at all. Crocodile’s goal was Pluton, he wouldn’t give up so easily.
“Besides, we don’t need to find him. He’s already on his way to us.”
Shin said.
Hearing him, the girls activated their Observation Haki and immediately sensed Crocodile and his subordinates approaching.
Knowing Shin had arrived, Crocodile had decided not to hide. He was going to negotiate.
If he could strike a deal with Shin, it would be a good thing. If not, he’d have to fight.
No matter what, he would not give up on Pluton.
“I can’t believe he actually showed up. What an idiot. Does he have a death wish or something?” Kalifa said with a cold laugh.
Vivi felt her nerves kicking in. She was about to face the man who’d torn her kingdom apart.
Even with powerful allies backing her, her heart was still racing.
