Olvia was thrilled to hear Nami’s request. After all, Nami was a member of the Kuja Pirates. If her strength increased, it would be a direct boost to the crew’s overall power.
“Of course,” Olvia said, her voice warm and reassuring to the anxious Nami. “I’ll teach you anything you want to learn.”
“Whew, thank you, Olvia!” Nami let out a huge sigh of relief. “I was honestly afraid you’d turn me down, just like that jerk Shin did.”
“You mean Shin refused you?” Olvia looked at Nami strangely upon hearing this. Logically speaking, if Nami really wanted him to teach her, he shouldn’t have refused.
“Yes, because he’s despicable.”
Nami nodded at Olvia and then said, “It must be because I refused him when he wanted to teach me before, and he’s not happy about it.”
“Shin’s not like that. You must have misunderstood,” Olvia said with a light, knowing laugh.
She knew Shin far better than Nami did. He wouldn’t hold a grudge over something so trivial. It was far more likely that he was just feeling lazy.
Well, it had to be said that Olvia really knew Shin better. Indeed, he just wanted to be lazy.
Besides, when it came to teaching Nami, he didn’t think he could do better than Olvia. Sure, he was stronger than her in terms of raw power, but that didn’t mean he was a better teacher.
In fact, he wouldn’t even claim his teaching skills were on par with hers. Olvia had a real gift for instruction. If she ever decided to take on students, there’d probably be a long line of people wanting to learn from her.
“Alright, let’s start with the Six Powers,” Olvia said, shifting into instructor mode.
“Wait, you know the Six Powers?”
Hina, who had been training nearby, heard them and immediately walked over, her eyes fixed on Olvia with a sharp, analytical gaze.
“Yes. Is that strange?” Olvia replied with a calm nod.
“Hina finds it very strange,” she stated, her tone formal. “The Six Powers are a secret art of the Marines, not to be taught to outsiders. How do you know them?”
As a high-ranking Marine officer herself, Hina had been trained in the techniques, though her own mastery was nothing special.
“If possible, please teach Hina as well.”
Well, the truth was, Hina mainly wanted to find out how much Olvia had mastered of the Six Powers. She didn’t actually want to learn from her.
“Of course. Now that you’re a member of the Kuja Pirates, you’re one of us. I won’t hold anything back,” Olvia said with a genuine smile, making it clear she wouldn’t treat Hina differently just because she was a former Marine.
Hina was slightly silent upon hearing this. ‘A member of the Kuja Pirates?’
Yes, she was a pirate now. She remembered how much she used to hate pirates. Yet here she was, one of them.
At first, Hina had still planned to escape from the Kuja Pirates.
But she’d given up on that idea—not for any noble reason, but because she knew she simply wasn’t strong enough to get away. And though she didn’t want to admit it to herself, part of her was actually reluctant to leave.
“Nami, I will be very strict when I teach you, so you have to be prepared.”
Olvia’s gaze towards Nami immediately became serious. If she really wanted to teach her, she certainly couldn’t relax.
“I’m ready,” Nami replied, her own face set with determination. “I know getting stronger will be tough. I’ve prepared myself for that.”
“Good.”

A few days later, Nami looked completely and utterly miserable.
“I’m exhausted. I feel like I can’t even move. I had no idea getting stronger would be this brutal. I don’t think I can take much more.”
Nami said with a miserable face.
“If you can’t take it, just give up,” Shin said, walking by with a cool, refreshing drink in his hand. “Don’t push yourself. Being the crew’s designated freeloader isn’t so bad, you know.”
Nami shot him a venomous glare. The more he mocked her, the more a stubborn fire ignited within her. She refused to let him get the best of her.
“I’ll show you!” she declared, clenching her fist with newfound resolve. “I’ll prove I’m not some delicate little girl who gives up easily!”
“I hope so,” Shin replied with a faint, infuriating smile, taking a leisurely sip of his juice.
Olvia walked over to him, a knowing look in her eyes. “You’re deliberately provoking her, aren’t you?”
“Yep,” Shin admitted with a grin. “A little motivation should help her improve that much faster.”
“Aren’t you worried you’ll push her too hard and she’ll just quit for real?” Olvia asked, a hint of concern in her voice.
“Nah, I know Nami,” he said confidently. “She’s not one to give up that easily.”
He thought of the Nami from the original story, the one who had worked tirelessly for years to save up 100 million Berries. Her willpower was not to be underestimated.
“By the way,” Olvia mentioned, changing the subject, “Hina’s been improving really fast.”
Hina hadn’t been particularly strong before, at least not compared to the true powerhouses of the world. But with Olvia’s dedicated guidance, her strength was increasing exponentially.
“That’s all thanks to your excellent teaching. I should be the one thanking you,” Shin said sincerely.
“Don’t say that. I know my own limits. Hina has a lot of raw talent, but it seems like it was never fully brought out back in the Marines.”
“That just proves how amazing you are, Olvia. Here, let’s have a drink.” Shin produced a bottle of wine as if from nowhere.
“Are you trying to get me drunk and then have your way with me?” Olvia asked, eyeing him with a healthy dose of suspicion.
“What? How could you even think that?” Shin feigned offense, his reaction a little too dramatic. “What kind of person do you take me for? I’m a perfect gentleman,”
“Heh, I think you’re definitely up to no good,” a new voice chimed in. Robin had appeared behind him, a cold, amused smile on her face.
“Ahem, Robin, I think you’re biased against me,” Shin coughed. “And when did you even get here?”
He had been so engrossed in his conversation with Olvia that he hadn’t noticed her approach at all.
Robin rolled her eyes upon hearing this.
