Barragan scrambled to his feet, shot a look in Shin’s direction, and then bolted without a second thought. The move even caught Shin off guard for a second.
“So much for the dignity of the King of Hueco Mundo,” Shin scoffed, watching Barragan flee. He didn’t bother giving chase.
If he had really wanted to kill Barragan, the so-called king wouldn’t have survived a second blow. Besides, Shin was actually looking forward to Barragan becoming an Arrancar later on.
His Resurrección was quite formidable. Resurrección is the ability an Arrancar gains, allowing them to release the true form of their Zanpakuto—it’s essentially their equivalent of a Soul Reaper’s Shikai.
“CAPTAIN SHIN, YOU’RE SO STRONG,” Soi Fon murmured, her eyes filled with adoration. In that moment, Shin had officially surpassed everyone else in her mind as the person she admired most.
Even Yoruichi had been pushed to second place. If Yoruichi knew, who knows how she would feel?
“It was nothing. The enemy was just too weak,” Shin said with a smile.
And it wasn’t just Shin showing off. In his eyes, Barragan truly didn’t amount to much. The man was just too weak.
Once he became an Arrancar, he might be a bit more interesting.
“Let’s go. Time to hunt more Vasto Lorde.”
The encounter with Barragan was just a minor detour for Shin. For Barragan, however, it was a major crisis. He had abandoned his own fortress, Las Noches, and fled, terrified that Shin might come after him.
After about a year in Hueco Mundo, Shin finally left with Soi Fon. By then, she had achieved her Bankai. With a single strike of her Jakuho Raikoben, she had obliterated a Gillian.
But the spiritual pressure it consumed was immense. After using her Bankai, Soi Fon was practically out of the fight. If she couldn’t finish an enemy with it, she’d be left completely vulnerable.
Soi Fon was still young, but her spiritual pressure would continue to grow. Right now, her strength was probably somewhere above a lieutenant but not quite at a captain’s level. She couldn’t match a full-fledged captain, but she was definitely stronger than the average lieutenant.
Of course, “average” was the key word. Some lieutenants, like Aizen or even Yoruichi back in the day, had power that far exceeded that of a captain. Yoruichi’s strength might not have vastly surpassed every captain, but she was certainly stronger than most.

“Let’s go. We should head back. I bet Yoruichi is cursing us out every day by now.”
Shin led Soi Fon back to the Second Division.
“That damned Shin, who knows when he’ll be back. When he gets here, I’ll teach him a lesson,” Yoruichi grumbled, slamming her hand on the table.
The Soul Reapers outside could hear it. They had lost count of how many tables had been replaced in the Second Division barracks.
“Looks like I was right. She really is cursing us out,” Shin said to Soi Fon.
“Captain Shin, I don’t think Lady Yoruichi was cursing me out. It sounds like she’s just mad at you,” Soi Fon pointed out.
“Soi Fon, you’re making this very awkward for me.” Shin gently pinched Soi Fon’s cheek, then pushed open the door and walked in.
The moment she saw him, Yoruichi shot forward, throwing a furious punch. Shin caught her fist easily, stopping the weak attack.
“You’re starting to act more and more like Tsunade,” Shin couldn’t help but say.
Yoruichi, who had been about to explode, suddenly narrowed her eyes. She leaned in and asked, “This Tsunade you mentioned… is she a man or a woman?”
“You know me. I don’t really know that many men, so of course she’s a woman. Even if I told you about her, you wouldn’t know who she is. Maybe I’ll introduce you all someday if I get the chance.”
Shin waved his hand dismissively. Yoruichi stared at him, her eyes still narrowed.
Fine. Even if she pushed, he probably wouldn’t say anything. If she knew one thing about him, it was that if Shin didn’t want to talk, you could never force it out of him. So, Yoruichi decided to drop it.
“Soi Fon, your strength has improved a lot.”
Yoruichi’s gaze shifted to Soi Fon. She could feel the formidable aura radiating from her.
“Yes. It’s all thanks to Captain Shin’s guidance.” Soi Fon’s eyes were filled with deep admiration as she looked at Shin.
Yoruichi’s eyebrow twitched, and a wave of irritation washed over her.
“Did you brainwash Soi Fon or something? Why is she looking at you with such hero-worship?”
“Don’t be ridiculous. Would I do something so tasteless? This is just my natural charm.”
Shin waved his hand. It was definitely his own personal charm. While he could technically brainwash someone and alter their will with an ability like Kotoamatsukami, he wouldn’t stoop to that level. The reason he had never copied Koga Kuchiki’s Muramasa was because he already had Kotoamatsukami, which was far superior.
“Heh. That sounds exactly like something you’d do,” Yoruichi retorted, giving him a disdainful look. She was getting more irritated by the second, unable to stand his smug attitude.
“Lady Yoruichi, please don’t say that. Captain Shin has been very good to me. He hasn’t done anything wrong. And his strength… it’s incredible.”
Soi Fon’s expression turned ecstatic as she recalled the moment Shin had sent Barragan flying, severely injuring him with a single blow.
Barragan was a Vasto Lorde. To be able to heavily wound a Vasto Lorde with one move… Soi Fon deeply admired the strong, and Shin was the strongest person she had ever met.
“You, Soi Fon… I never should have let you go with him.” Yoruichi’s heart soured, and she shot Shin a furious glare.
Soi Fon was supposed to be her number one fan, and now she’d been poached. Of course Yoruichi was beyond annoyed.
“Soi Fon, are you abandoning me?” Yoruichi asked.
“Of course not! In my heart, Lady Yoruichi and Captain Shin are equally important—more important than my own life,” Soi Fon said, her expression serious.
“Sigh. In such a short time, you’ve already risen to my level in Soi Fon’s heart,” Yoruichi couldn’t help but say with a sigh.
“Stop sighing. I’ve been gone for a while. Have you been handling the Second Division’s work? I need to check,” Shin said to Yoruichi.
Yoruichi rolled her eyes at him and said coldly, “I didn’t do it. I don’t have time for that.”
“Oh? If you didn’t do it, then what’s this?” Shin suddenly held up a file, filled with Second Division reports.
“Hmph. That wasn’t me. I would never help you,” Yoruichi snorted, her tone full of pride.
Seeing her tsundere act, Shin just smiled, glanced at the file, set it down, and vanished.
“Captain Shin is gone. Where did he go?” Soi Fon asked, looking at Yoruichi with confusion after Shin disappeared in the blink of an eye.
“Do you even have to ask? He obviously went to the Fourth Division. If he didn’t, I’ll eat this table on the spot,” Yoruichi said irritably. She knew Shin all too well.
