The head rolled down the ground, only stopping when a boot came down on it.
With a chuckle, he surveyed the chaos.
No one was paying attention to him due to the destruction caused by the creature and Kade. Some buildings were reduced to rubble, while the floor itself was destroyed in many places.
He stepped toward the dead vermyrex and with an excited grin, mentally clicked the spirit power increase option.
“I would love to see the look of betrayal on your face after you realize that your own underling is against you.” Cracking his neck, his eyes locked onto the robed figure that stood unharmed despite Kade and the other two’s efforts.
The dead vermyrex’s body moved, and a new one grew back to its original place where it used to be.
“Damn, that’s some good ability.” The chopping of the head was precisely done for this reason, and it went exactly as his expectations.
One of its limbs that had been cut apart by him also grew back.
And yet the transformation didn’t stop there.
Its claws grew an inch wider, its completely black eyes mutated and a fresh, white colored pupil grew inside it, thus allowing Ren to see from its vision.

“Sweet.” With a light kick, Ren threw away the original head beneath his foot and glanced at his stats before shifting his attention back to the fight.

The fight had wreaked havoc around the entire dome, yet the monstrosity didn’t even appear tired.
All people were standing around the boundary of the dome, as even the houses and buildings weren’t safe anymore.
And none of them attacked, not that they didn’t have the guts to do so, but because their leader hadn’t told them to.
Kade was doing fine too, but it didn’t fare the same for his underlings, Carter and Cooper. Their Stamina was too low for them to contend against a creature this powerful, and there were several moments where they survived only because of Kade’s timely interference.
The creature’s eyes glowed with an unwavering intensity, and it spoke.
“I wasn’t here for you, but look what I found. An even better meal,” the creature laughed like a madman.
Its hysterical voice sent shivers down everyone’s spine as the scene where the creature ate a human heart replayed in their heads.
“Why isn’t he using more people to fight?” The thought crossed his mind, though he didn’t worry too much as it wasn’t his place to advise him, or more like the current Ren didn’t care.
His original personality had vanished and now, he was like a whole different person.
One who wouldn’t care about revealing his secrets.
“Anyways, I am in for a treat.” If the creature could be converted into a minion too, his fighting prowess might reach enough to be called the strongest.
’Wait, what would happen if I let it die too?’ He still remembered how the promising vermins that had died provided him with something in the Integration process, whether it be the horns, blades, or… wings?
Though the current him didn’t care much about its origins, and the mutated vermyrex pounced at its former master.
“Surround him, I will use that.” At Kade’s instruction, the duo instantly flanked the creature from both directions, and stopped any escape route it could have as the fourth direction was the back of the dome.
The fight was so intense that it had swept multitudes of people away like flies, though most of them survived as everyone was an awakener here.
Kade formed a hand sign, and his figure vanished the next second.
’Wha—?’ Ren halted and tried to stop his minion, but was a second too late.
The man reappeared like a phantom behind the creature, making it widen its eyes, surprising it for the second time since its arrival.
And that’s when all of a sudden, a hulking vermyrex appeared out of nowhere and before Kade could even land his strike, crashed into both of them.
“What are you doing, attack him you du—?” The robed figure’s voice stopped mid-sentence as it noticed the changes in its pet.
The pet he once tamed had grown bigger, its now large claws just inches away from its face.
’”You aren’t my pet.”
Before his minion could stand back up, a streak of silver flashed through the air, aimed straight at its head but to Ren’s surprise, the creature’s reaction time almost matched his own.
It now stood upon the vermyrex while Kade was a couple of meters away from it, his left arm hung limp after the sudden crash, and now he was left confused about the current scene unfolding before him.
With a confused gaze, he switched his attention around, not knowing what was even happening.
He didn’t bother replying. And that’s when Kade noticed that he seemed a little… off.
“Ren?” He tried to speak, but his question fell on deaf ears.
Ren ignored him completely, and his stare met with the robed figure standing about his minion.
For a heartbeat, the battlefield fell silent.
And then, a loud collision echoed through the dome as two figures crashed into each other.
His axe pummeled down on the creature but despite his relentless attacks, the being withstood it all with only minor injuries.
It’s unnaturally thin, frail-arms absorbed every bit of force behind his axe and yet, Ren wasn’t worried in the slightest as he continued to strike.
The minor injuries were starting to accumulate and their speed was so fast that Kade knew if he interfered, it might worsen the advantage Ren had.
So he waited for the perfect moment to strike.
But the moment never arrived.
“You make a decent shield.” Ren grinned as his hands didn’t stop, despite the slight fatigue in his arms.
The being appeared frustrated for not being able to strike back or at the very least back out from the current exchange.
“What did you do with my pet?” A chilling voice escaped its throat.
“This.” He struck once again but this time, he used his full strength.
The swing contained more than twice the previous force, which the being noticed a little too late.
CRAAACKK!
