Oblivion's Heir: Rise of the Sovereign - Chapter 47: Battle

Chapter 47: Battle
The wretched creature crashed directly against the wall of the dome and fell to the ground.
In the next moment, a huge shadow appeared around the area before dust could even settle, and the vermyrex crashed once again onto the robed figure.
“YOU DARE BITE ME BACKKK!” With a guttural scream, it plunged its hands directly into the vermyrex.
Kade acted immediately.
With a hand sign, he once again disappeared from where he stood, and by the time Ren reached near the robed creature, he appeared in front of him at the same time.
They didn’t need to talk.
The punch and the axe struck simultaneously from two different directions, but the being avoided them with a simple jump.
Its body glided through the air like a bird.
The wretched creature landed safely, dispersing the dust around it.
Every person looked at the scene in horror, none daring to speak a single word as if afraid they might be swept up in the battle next.
“Do I need to take you guys seriously?” It muttered, a disgusted look formed on its face just at the thought of using its full power against two—no, three attackers.
Its eyes didn’t leave the vermyrex that now lay weakly on the ground, and lifting its arms, the creature once again had something in its hand.
Though this time, it wasn’t a heart.
A mixture of intestines, blood, and other indescribable things soaked his hand red as the black blood dripped from his hands.
Sweeping its glance at Ren, who commanded the vermyrex. It laughed in satisfaction.
“How is it? Do you really think you three were enough to take me on?” With a stomp on the ground, it hurled itself into the air.
’What’s it doing?’ Ren knew things weren’t going to be settled easily. The proof being the minor injuries sustained by the robed figure itself even though he had wielded the axe in his hands almost a dozen times before attacking it with his full strength.
The light robes that suspiciously still hung to its frail body finally dropped to the ground.
And what came into everyone’s view was a horrifying sight.
The place where the chest was supposed to be was a thick hide that contrasted with the normal skin of its hands, which appeared exactly like that of a normal human.
Its eyes, which had always been red turned a shade darker.
With narrowed eyes, it first set its sight on the vermyrex together with Ren, and then, the thin intestines in its hand changed into a hardened whip-like tendril.
With a swing, the end point which looked similar to that of a whip accelerated violently — so fast that the air itself split apart.
BOOM.
The sound echoed throughout the dome due to its structure, and the whip struck in a heartbeat.
Ren had been standing right behind his half-dead vermyrex since the creature jumped into the air because a slight unease had crawled through its skin, and his gut feeling wasn’t wrong.
“Fucking powerups.”
The strike was so powerful that not only did it break apart the vermyrex’s skin, it also tore through its flesh and destroyed whatever it was made of from the inside, leaving Kade and Ren stunned.
A thought crossed the duo’s mind — forget about winning, could they even survive this?
And both answered in their own way.
Kade who had been hiding the reason for the pressure that he had exerted on Ren revealed itself as a massive dark, smoke-like mass formed in the air.
His arms went black, matching the dark smoke that floated behind him, and a faint halo formed above his head.
A black polearm manifested in his hand which contained a long, single-edged blade, clearly defined despite the dark smoke that coiled and bled around its edges.
Though there was another transformation that stole the awakeners attention.
[Oblivion Integration – Sequence 1 (activate)]
Ren’s pupils which were pure white switched to grey in color and were now almost indistinguishable from his sclera.
Two ash-dark wings, even darker than Kade’s dark-smoke shot out from his back but unlike the previous time, they didn’t wrap around him in a cocoon and simply flapped in the air instead.
Kade, who once thought his change looked cool, stood completely flabbergasted after seeing his Integration.
He had been curious when his subordinate had told him about the change, and all he had assumed was that the man had bluffed, though it looked like it wasn’t the case.
The Integration continued.
At once, two devilish horns erupted from his forehead as Ren screamed while clutching his head.
His voice tore through the surroundings, waking the creature up from its stupor which it had fallen into after seeing Kade’s transformation.
Ren’s forearms once again expanded as if they wanted to burst apart.
And they did.
Both of his forearms blew apart, blood splattering on his conscious body, different from the past time when he was barely conscious.
A set of blades grew from his elbows and the axe fell from his hand.
They were thin, charcoal-black, and streaked with his own blood, attached to his elbows that acted as the hilt itself.
The creature felt a bad premonition, but before it could strike, Kade struck.
The third faction leader had sensed the change too, which had stupefied him as he realized that a kid was almost on his level and the only area where he was surpassed was the strength, though felt relieved because it wasn’t his max stat.
His halo spun, and the polearm in his arm stirred.
The wretched figure snapped its whip at him, and the sonic boom happened once again, flinging him backwards.
But the surprise came immediately. The attack which was even tearing through the sound barrier was blocked by his polearm, though he was still hurled backwards.
His boots skidded against the cracked tiles and mud as his figure came to a stop.
And just as they were ready to exchange another strike, something shifted in the air.
