Oblivion's Heir: Rise of the Sovereign - Chapter 48: Battle (2)

Chapter 48: Battle (2)
The halo spun once again, creating an invisible pressure that pressed down on everyone around Kade.
The creature stood wary.
It was completely unaware of the effects the faint halo spinning above his head provided. Still, it knew it couldn’t take it just as a mere decoration and needed to be on guard despite the overwhelmingly powerful self-made weapon present in its own hand.
The wretched figure hadn’t forgotten how its blow was blocked by a polearm that resembled a glaive.
Nevertheless, it had the advantage of a longer range and could also repel any attempt the duo made at getting closer to it, the reason why its concern didn’t linger for too long.
With a dash, Kade’s figure vanished.
But this time, there were no hand signs that allowed him to teleport.
The mana surged through his veins into his head, and in the next second, his figure vanished from where he had been.
Its frail arms gripped the whip tightly, and at once, it struck in a random direction a heartbeat after the faction leader blinked away from his original position.
Though the thing was, the direction wasn’t random.
Kade had appeared exactly where its whip had landed.
“H-how?” His voice cracked as he deflected the attack and was thrown back, though he didn’t lose his footing.
“How? Because I can feel you.” With a sinister and eerie chuckle, it attacked once again.
“Feel me?” He didn’t have the time to wonder what the monster meant by its words alone as it was freaking impossible to simply feel his presence because what Kade had was teleportation — not invisibility.
That’s when a thought crossed his mind.
“Don’t tell me—” The words couldn’t even escape his lips completely as the whip tore through the air itself, aiming for him.
With another swing of his polearm, the impact from the whip was blocked but slowly, his arms had started to feel numb.
“Impossible? You are saying you can sense where I choose to appear?”
He screamed as the revelation struck him.
“Bingo.” The monster lashed again but this time, it wasn’t aimed at the faction leader.
BOOOOOOOM.
It snapped the weapon in his hands so hard that the force shattered the sound barrier by a huge amount and directly whipped at the unconscious figure of Ren.
“DODGE,” Kade screamed and immediately activated his teleportation.
But he was a second too late.
The tail of the weapon lashed through the air, yet Ren stood still.
But the wings instantly reacted.
They shielded him from the front, absorbing all the damage that resulted in some deep scratches against the four-meter-long sleek wings.
Before the whip could be retrieved, Kade landed directly in front of Ren and stepped his foot on it.
“Finally I got a hold of it, now what?” Kade chuckled.
The two were now in a deadlock.
He couldn’t rush or else the creature would be able to wield its weapon again, making his efforts useless.
’I need to do it.’
One more spin.
Though the effect this time was different than before.
The halo that was always shimmering with a faint glow started to blaze brighter as it spun at a ridiculous pace, floating above his head.
’My exhaustion is catching up.’ Looking at his own previously damaged left hand that was now only usable due to his transformation, realization dawned on him that he had to act fast or else they would be finished.
His whole body grew to more than twice his original height, his muscles swelled, his bones grew further and the polearm in his hands grew too.
’If I can’t finish it in the next fifteen seconds, I will be the one to die.’ His eyes darted backwards at the figure of Ren.
“How long will you freaking take?” Kade muttered.
Only a couple of seconds had passed since Kade himself had transformed first, though two blows were more than enough for him to understand that he couldn’t win alone despite his now hulking figure.
And his timing couldn’t be more accurate.
The wings flapped away, sweeping the dust around it, and revealed his… conscious figure?
“Hahaha, this is the best.” Ren laughed.
“What’s that?” Kade asked with a look of hesitation etched on his face.
“Hmm?”
That’s when Ren saw that there was a dark circle present on his chest, though he couldn’t figure out what it was as his gaze locked onto the wretched abomination.
It was in mid-air, about to kill Kade in a single go.
’Shit.’ The man himself realized how big a mistake he had just made because he transformed and thought himself to be invincible for a moment.
“You shouldn’t be complacent.” The voice rang in his ears as the creature’s claws almost reached his chest, about to harvest his heart.
His massive size caused the mobility of his body to decrease slightly, something which the abomination concluded before he himself could.
Though he didn’t succeed.
At once, Ren’s own arms that were now blades swung in front of Kade.
Two fingers flew through the air as the creature backed away in an instant, its one hand now containing only three fingers.
The duo didn’t have the time for chit-chat, time was of great importance for them.
They both attacked at the same time, but Ren reached earlier due to his wings that allowed him to fly a meter above the air instead of running like a certain giant.
But the surprise came instantly.
The faction leader that now stood as tall as a one-story house jumped and closed in on the creature in the blink of an eye, slightly earlier than Ren himself could, and slammed the massive polearm in its hand directly at it.
The impact was so powerful that a small crater appeared on the ground, sweeping dust everywhere.
Despite that, Ren didn’t stop. His figure got engulfed in the dust and then, another massive sound echoed throughout the dome.
“I don’t understand who the monster is out of those three.” A young woman who stood on the other side gulped as she spoke.
