Oblivion's Heir: Rise of the Sovereign - Chapter 52: Three weeks wait

Chapter 52: Three weeks wait
The morning arrived, yet no sunlight reached inside the dome.
However, the sheer amount of oil lamps, large bronze braziers, and paper lanterns illuminated the place well enough for it to look like a normal city.
The dome which had been almost completely destroyed at the center was restored in just three days. No, restore was an understatement as they literally used this chance to upgrade the settlement.
Clusters of lamps hung from the ceiling in the center of the enclosure but their numbers thinned as one moved closer to the walls.
’I knew it.’
Ren walked through the crowd as he swept a glance at the people who murmured about him.
His condition had improved rapidly, likely because he didn’t sustain any major injuries, and the potion he drank.
When he first woke up, it was just the stares, but now it had grown to murmurs and confrontations, as if he were some sort of criminal roaming freely in the city.
Ren couldn’t be bothered with them, as he was already tired after confronting twk guys yesterday and not wanting another headache, he decided to stay locked up in his house.
However, he still had to stepp outside after learning that Kade was currently free and he could meet him now.
So Ren instantly left his new house which he knew he wouldn’t be living in for long enough and advanced towards Kade’s residence.
’And here I thought I had gained enough trust for him to meet me directly. He still has to take care of his face, huh.’
“Hey, you are the one who brought that creature in our base and now you have the nerve to roam here freely?” The guy’s attempt at escalating the situation worked, albeit slightly as one more person stepped forward.
However, when Ren looked at his face, something clicked in his mind and he couldn’t hold back his laughter.
These two were accomplices, to be precise, the person who spoke first was the water manipulator guy he had almost killed, and the reason he couldn’t recognize him immediately was because of the mask he had worn that day.
Yet Ren still identified him after seeing the second person, the one who had actually guided him at this place.
“Weren’t you the one who guided me here?” Ren tried to hold back, though it didn’t work too well.
Even now, he knew nothing about the fact that the creature had actually come for him and that crature had been the one to send the monstrosity that had almost killed Ren in the outer region.
The crowd didn’t start to shout or blame him just due to this tiny escalation, the reason being everyone of them had seen worst of the worst, so they knew how things like escalating the crowd’s anger worked easily.
Ignoring their embarrassed faces as the duo couldn’t deny his words because many onlookers had seen them bringing Ren here, he walked past them.
He wanted to ask about the potion the day before yesterday when he had met Kade, but his sour mood had stopped him from doing so.
Neither Carter not Cooper were outside the faction leader’s building, likely out on a hunt to level up.
’This reminds me, I am still stuck at level 28…’

’What’s with this spirit power… ’ He still didn’t know about its use, the only thing that he understood the mechanics of was how the plus appeared beside it whenever he killed a creature, and the number increased after he turned the creature into an Oblivion Entity.
The questions about his own system were never-ending, and of course, he noticed something else too.
His eyes twitched at the sight of his skill section and he dismissed it outright.
’I will worry about it later.’ Shifting his attention back, he entered the building only to find Kade marking something on the map.
’Does he only live in this room?’ His gaze darted to the door in the corner, though it was nothing more than a mild curiosity.
“I heard you wanted to talk about something?” Kade didn’t waste any time on chit-chat, surprising Ren once again as the man always talked about morals like a madman.
’He’s not interested in me?’ His grip on the armrest tightened as a chill crawled up Ren’s spine.
He wasn’t sure if he could survive if they fought now, being completely unaware of the damage Kade sustained.
“Can I get another potion, I already drank the previous one while fighting that creature.” He couldn’t delay it any longer just because Kade felt mentally unstable when it came to talking about humans, so Ren got to the point at once.
“No.” Kade denied instantly as if he expected the question.
“Why not?” With furrowed brows, he asked cautiously.
“Because I don’t have one. You will need to wait a week.” Kade looked at Ren’s questioning look, sighed, and explained.
“The regeneration potion was too powerful, though the time it would take to regenerate a limb would be more than two weeks, it still doesn’t change the fact that it could regenerate a whole limb, and so, the materials that our cleric needs to craft it are also rare to get.”
’Ah, now it makes sense.’ He had been wondering why two potions were still not enough to heal him fully despite being potent enough to regenerate a whole limb.
It was because it had a time period to work, irrespective of the degree of injury sustained.
—
’I bet that’s what he is thinking.’ Kade looked at him with a sorry expression as he manipulated him.
At the start, losing Ren was a serious problem for him so he agreed to give him the potion, and even if he figured out the potion was not potent enough to regrow a limb, two weeks would have already passed, enough time for him to think about another plan.
But now? He wasn’t sure anymore after getting his chest impaled by that monster.
Even though the potions stopped his bleeding, his mobility was greatly hindered and fighting would be the worst thing he could do in his state.
So keeping Ren for as long as possible was his priority, and hence he decided to extend the time by one more week.
’I can just hope I recover somewhat in the next three weeks as he doesn’t seem to be the type that understands my morals, meaning I would have to kill him.’
’And I can’t forget that abomination. I need this kid to fight it again or else, winning would be the least of my worries.’
