Chapter 2568: Death of the White Tiger

[The White Tiger of the West has been slain.]

The White City where the White Tiger of the West is residing could be seen flattened in all directions. The White Tiger of the West that is the guardian of the people here could be seen lying on the ground as a corpse. The only difference from the Azure Dragon of the East is that the White Tiger of the West managed to evacuate every citizen in the city.

All the members of Kami that came to the city were mostly killed as only those truly powerful were left. A man that is wearing an Oni mask could be seen in tattered martial master clothes. This was not Tai as he was also present here but one of his arms is missing and he is heavily injured along with Vixen and Tama. This other Oni masked man is Tai’s master that is an Ascendant Immortal called Chiyou.

“Master, we managed to win.” Tai stated as he drank a potion to ease the pain, but his arm was not regrowing as he expected.

“We still lost because the divine energy of the White Tiger of the West vanished somewhere. It seems that it has already prepared just in case it has died. They did say that there was a seer that guarded the special metal mirror of the White Tiger of the West. It seems that the seer has predicted the death of its master and prepared.” Chiyou stated as a drop of blood came out from his mouth.

“Will there be a complication if we do not have the White Tiger of the West’s divine essence?” Tai asked.

“Its death is what we are after. The only problem is that it could be revived if we do not destroy its divine essence completely. Still, it will take them a decade or so in order to recover and that is already ample time for the plan to move forward.” Chiyou stated but there is a lingering feeling of doubt and fear in his voice.

“What should we do next master?” Tai asked.

“For now, we must return and recuperate. It seems that only Izanagi and Izanami were successful in killing the Azure Dragon. The teams that were sent to the Black Tortoise and Vermillion Bird seems to have failed. Those two divine beasts are difficult to defeat after all as one rule over death and the other represents the sun.” Chiyou stated as he proceeded to sit down and accumulate some of his internal energy to recover his wounds.

“We have returned.” Vixen stated in a playful voice towards Tai.

“We were unable to find where they escaped. The underground passage that they used collapsed in the middle which made it impossible to go through. Apologies.” Tama stated as he bowed.

“No need. You two did you best but it seems that they were more prepared for us than we thought. Even the spies that we used were killed the moment we started the attack. They had a Seer with them.” Tai stated.

“No wonder. Seers are difficult to deal with. They may be weak and unable to fight as much but their premonition of danger and death is troublesome.” Vixen stated as she acted cute while tending to Tai’s wounds.

“The collection team is here. I wonder what items are going to be crafted from a divine beast like the White Tiger.” Tama stated in excitement when Chiyou suddenly stood up and created a yin yang energy field around them.

All of a sudden and without warning, the entire area suddenly had an explosion of elements of differing degrees. The collection team that was gathering the corpse of the White Tiger were the ones that are caught in the explosion. They were all erased from existence along with the corpse of the White Tiger of the West.

“To think that you were still alive, Chiyou.” A commanding and deep voice stated as the smoke cleared to reveal a Ryujin in his humanoid form.

“Fu Xi!” Chiyou stated in shock as he did not expect that a being that is said to have been sealed was now back.

Fu Xi suddenly appeared before them as he was actually near the forbidden area in the eastern continent called Lodestone Mountain. It is located near White City, and he followed the ruckus as the roars of the White Tiger of the West echoed. Still, Fu Xi was too late as the White Tiger of the West has met its end. He could already tell who defeated the White Tiger of the West as Chiyou is present in the area.

“We cannot defeat him as we are now. Retreat!” Chiyou stated as he looked at the three of them to check if they were safe.

“But the corpse of the White Tiger of the West!” Tai exclaimed.

The corpse of the White Tiger of the West is getting disintegrated in real time by Fu Xi. The elemental catastrophe that he used is powerful enough to actually erode the body of a divine beast. Then again, the collection team of Kami became dust in an instant when they got hit by his spell. Fu Xi did not want them to escape which is why he easily created three more elemental catastrophe spells and circled it around Chiyou and his companions.

“Forget about the body! We must escape or else we will die!” Chiyou stated and Vixen nodded as she could see that Tai was still injured and cannot fight.

Chiyou was also protecting them from the spell bombardment, and it was difficult to counterattack when the mage caster basically fires off spells like breathing. Even if Tai did not want to retreat and at least recover the body of the White Tiger of the West, Vixen agreed with Chiyou’s choice and took out the scroll of teleportation. She immediately tore the scroll up as the light enveloped all of them and turned them into particles of light that shot away.
