Omega Summoner - Chapter 2584: Vermillion Egg

Chapter 2584: Vermillion Egg
A crimson egg that has the feathers of the Vermillion Bird of the South could be seen being cradled by Dodu. The Vermillion Egg as Adrian called it since it is likely the form the Vermillion Bird takes when it does die. From what he observed earlier, this should be the last heart of the Vermillion Bird that took on the form of an egg in order to have a chance at rebirth.
“TAKE THAT EGG AT ALL COSTS!” Chiyou shouted as he also made way for the Vermillion Egg.
Chiyou knew that the Vermillion Egg is the thing that can give them a shortcut as it is filled with the divine spark of the Vermillion Bird. It will be able to give at least one of them the ability to breakthrough the divine level and return to divinity. Chiyou wanted to take the Vermillion Egg because it will enable him to finally shatter his mortal shell and become a god once again.
All members of the Kami organization tried to use other divine beasts for their experiment but all of them failed. It seems that only a fully grown and mature divine beasts with the faith of the eastern continent people can give them release from the curse. The only problem they had is the fact that the only ones that could fit that category are the Four Cardinal Divin Beasts.
Kami bided their time as they believe that they need a meticulous plan in order to take down divine beasts. They took in a Seer and molded their plans based on the future vision that they get from the said Seer. While they added the plans of the Seer, some of them believed that splicing the divine beasts might give them more answers. This is the plan that resulted in the separation of the Vermillion Bird earlier. They even made use of a temporal crack and used a player to create that instance.
“I must have it! It has been thousands of years and reincarnation. I cannot let anyone have it when I am this close to becoming a god once again!” Chiyou thought as his speed skyrocketed since he was pushing his body to the utmost limit.
Adrian looked at the approaching enemies as it was not just one but all the remaining handful of Ascendant Immortals eyeing the Vermillion Egg. Adrian grasped the egg and smiled as he used the remaining strength in his body to call upon all of his soulbounds via the mirror. All of his soulbounds retreated back to him and the area he was in is suddenly covered in a mirror dome.
“Do not attack it!” Tai shouted as he already saw this from videos, but his warning was not fast enough for some of the Kami organization members.
The attacks of the Ascendant Immortals suddenly reached the mirror dome and some of the mirrors shattered. They thought that they have effectively destroyed the mirror and only needed to attack again to shatter it completely. What they did not know is that the retaliation of the mirror was delayed as the cracked mirrors suddenly glowed in pure energy. The glowing mirror then fired off a concentrated beam of pure energy before shattering entirely.
The Ascendant Immortal that attacked the mirror suddenly found himself bleeding from his stomach as a hole has pierced his body. The pain he felt finally caught up to his senses as he coughed up blood before crashing down. The others saw what happened to their group member and stopped themselves from landing attacks on the mirrors.
“Use your chi to create waves instead of pinpointed attacks. Shatter the mirrors in one blow so that they will be useless.” Chiyou commanded as he also attacked with a palm attack.
The palm attack that Chiyou did created a powerful reverberating force that shattered the mirror in front of him instantly. The mirror that shattered to dust was unable to convert the force of his attack but that does not mean he could enter the mirror dome barrier easily. When the mirror was gone, sharp shadow spikes suddenly exploded from the missing mirror area which made Chiyou back away.
When Chiyou retreated a few meters away, the mirror once again regenerated in a slow speed. The scene definitely angered Chiyou as their enemy was definitely planning to turn this into a battle of attrition. Kami could not afford to have a long, drawn-out battle right now as all of them are exhausted and severely injured. The thousand-member army was reduced to that of a handful which only left those that are now fallen gods.
“Attack all at once in my command!” Chiyou shouted as he was desperate for the Vermillion Egg.
As Chiyou is the one that outranks all of them, they did not dare to dismiss his commands. All of them including Tai charged their attacks at the same time. They made sure to use attacks that will shatter the mirrors with one attack. They even used their internal energies to the utmost as their bodies glowed. Their combined attacks hit the dome barrier, and it shattered in an instant.
The Kami members saw that the mirror dome barrier held up with a fight, but everything shattered from their combined attacks. They were ready for a fight as the monsters of the enemy are still alive. They waited until the smoke cleared but they were left dumbfounded by what greeted them. The enemy that they were being heavily wary of has suddenly vanished.
“Where is he! Where are they!” Chiyou shouted as his anger surged because they basically did everything but were not rewarded.
The thousand strong army was able to kill the Vermillion Bird of the South but the losses they got was staggering. They lost a powerful divine beast that they can control which can also use the Samadhi True Fire. They lost more warriors than they could count, and they did not even get the treasures of the city that was destroyed. Most importantly, they were unable to get the last divine spark that the Vermillion Bird of the South had when it died.
“We had been played. We thought that his summoning was getting undone, but they actually escaped in the end.” Tai stated.
“They did not escape. They did a strategic retreat because we definitely lost. Even if you look at it from any angle, the only positive thing for us is the fact that the Vermillion Bird of the South is killed. The losses from our end have significantly reduced our combat power to take on the last divine beasts. We even lost a potential Seer that could have made our future plans better.” Chiyou stated in frustration.
“I am sorry that I have been too inadequate, master. I thought that I could take on the demon, but it seems one of his soulbounds is a direct counter against me. The armguards are not affecting that beast because it seems to be a divine beast more powerful in rank compared to the White Tiger of the West.” Tai stated as he clenched his fists because he felt incredibly disappointed with himself. He could not even avenge his friends that died horrendously against the demon.
“It is not your fault because I did not expect that the Vermillion Bird of the South would actually find the aid of a demon. We knew that they are acquainted but we did not dig enough to find out that the Vermillion Bird of the South could actually call upon a demon for help. Let us return and rest because some of the demigods that lost their bodies would need to take time to regenerate one.” Chiyou stated.
Fortunately for them, the demigods or Ascendant Immortals that died in this skirmish did not have their souls sent to the afterlife. Chiyou thought that the demon would escort their souls to the afterlife as he did know that he is the Champion of the Twin Gods. It seems that the fight was too hectic for the Champion of the Twin Gods to drag the demigod souls of their comrades to the afterlife.
“It would still take at least a month for them to regain the body they had to its peak.” Tai stated.
“That is not a problem when we can just artificially create some. We shall use the Samadhi True Flames as we are closer to our goal. The Black Tortoise of the West is the only being that is left blocking our way to ascension.” Chiyou stated as all of them left the scene because they know that the Murim Alliance will definitely arrive within a few minutes. Their organization is now being hunted down by the Murim Alliance since some of their spies planted their killed some key organization members to destabilize them.
Chiyou did not even notice the small paper that is sticking to his shoe that has some sort of runes. It was something that was stuck to him by the shadows created by Sirius as per the command of Adrian.
