Chapter 2825: The Fate of the First VIII

“Pyli! I know that you are still in there!” Adrian called out as he knows that undeads created with the souls of the dead as an ingredient means that their very souls are the cores of their body.

The Dullahan is no different from other undead as the souls should still be there. Powerful undead tend to have souls that are powerful but they often have the problem that they forget about their lives before becoming an undead. The undead miasma that is not in a covenant with the God of Death Abaddon is unstable.

Adrian reached out for now because Pyli has just recently been turned into an undead. There might be a chance that the Dullahan before him to regain some semblance of being alive. The Dullahan already uses the fighying style that Pyli had which means that it might remember its time being alive. Upon hearing the name, the Dullahan looked towards Adrian with the latter in great anticipation.

Adrian observed if the Dullahan before him would speak even though the head is clearly severed. He waited for a reaction but it was not the reaction that he wanted. The Dullahan turned towards Adrian and then launched a sword wave. Adrian frowned upon sensing the hostility as this meant that the Dullahan before him is indeed unable to recall its time being Pyli.

“I have no other choice. I need to make it my soulbound in order to at least make it regain sanity.” Adrian thought as he lunged towards the Dullahan.

The Dullahan greeted Adrian’s spear with sword strikes that deflected the latter’s attacks. Adrian could be seen putting some effort in the battle but also careful enough to not destroy the core of the undead before him. Even if Adrian wanted to take it easy, the Dullahan before him is only showering him with hostility and not even letting him breathe.

Even if Adrian no longer actively attacked, the Dullahan would use its sword engulfed in miasma to strike at him. The power that the Dullahan wielded is something that Adrian himself needed to guard against. He might be slightly better compared to the Dullahan before him but even he gets damaged by miasma. He might not be tainted by miasma but that does not mean he will not get hurt by attacks enchanted by it.

“Do you really not recognize me, Pyli?” Adrian asked once again as he is now in close range with the Dullahan.

Adrian thought that the Dullahan would utter words as its other hand held its head slightly higher but it was actually just another attack. Miasmic flames were spewed out by the severed head which made Adrian retreat. The miasmic flames released by the head of a Dullahan contains something like poison and the ability to weaken their enemies.

“I am sorry about this, Pyli.” Adrian muttered as he no longer held back his attacks and aimed at the severed head.

The severed head of a Dullahan is its core and is also its most powerful body part. If Adrian is able to subdue the head of the Dullahan then he will be able to easily create the contract. He does not know what will happen if he creates a contract with an undead that has an unstable soul due to miasma but there is no other way.

Adrian had no other choice but to rely on his own moves as he cannot use Elemental Summoning Magic. It is not because he destroyed the gift that the Elemental Kings have given him but the entire area around him blocks any type of elemental energy. The basis of using Elemental Summoning Magic is using the elements around them to conjure up a connection with an elemental. With no elemental energy around, Adrian cannot use this combat spell he created and just rely on the soul weapons.

“Catch!” Adrian shouted as he imbued the spear with lots of mana and hurled it towards the head of the Dullahan.

The speed at which the spear flew was incredibly fast as even the Dullahan could not instantly react to what Adrian did. The spear would have directly hit the head of the Dullahan if not for the powerful miasmic barrier that it erected instantly. The miasma that surrounded the Dullahan suddenly dropped as it used most of it to protect its severed head as it would die if the head is destroyed.

The miasma formed a barrier around the head of the Dullahan but that is what Adrian is aiming for. When the Dullahan is too concentrated on what will happen to its head, Adrian already vanished from his location. The Dullahan tried to search for him but Adrian appeared behind his enemy and stabbed it on the back. The Dullahan is then heavily injured by the soul weapon daggers that Adrian summoned as soon as the spear vanished.

With the sudden sneak attack, Adrian is able to catch the Dullahan by surprise. He managed to force the Dullahan on its knees and then instantly touch the head. Without waiting for the Dullahan to even react, Adrian invoked the Seal spell as both of them are suddenly encased in a powerful miasma. Adrian has successfully created a link between him and the Dullahan that was Pyli.

“What is that Asmodian doing?! Stop that Asmodian! Kill him!” The Corrupted Grave Keeper shouted as it suddenly felt that its connection with the Dullahan is slipping away.

The miasma that should only be from the Corrupted Grave Keeper started to become purified into another type of miasma that it cannot control. If the Corrupted Grave Keeper cannot infuse its unique miasma into the Dullahan then its control will inevitably disperse. There might even be a chance that the Dullahan will remember is previous life and then attack the Corrupted Grave Keeper that created it. After all, undead are often angry to those that turned them into undead in the first place.

“Do you think that I will let you interrupt what my master is doing? Abyss Surge!” Vio shouted as he then coiled around Adrian and the Dullahan before releasing a powerful burst of energy that formed into waves of ice and darkness that delivered devastating damage to all undead around him.

Vio looked at Adrian with concern as it seems that his master is now trapped in a mental plane. Just as Vio expected, Adrian is indeed trapped in a mental plane that is shattered. He instantly arrived here when he touched Pyli’s head which means he is now inside the head of the Dullahan. With memories in fragments, it is no wonder that the Dullahan could barely remember what it was before.

“I must not stop. I invoke my power of contract! Pyli, become my soulbound!” Adrian shouted as he forcefully created a contract that invoked his soul and the fractured soul of the Dullahan before him.

The fractured memories of the Dullahan slowly came together to create a contract. Adrian smiled as he did not expect that he would succeed in the first try. He immediately touched this contract but his arm suddenly burst into miasmic flames as soon as he grasped it. The contract before him is the manifestation of the Dullahan’s soul and he did not expect that the miasma would already taint everything about Pyli.

“I must endure. If not, I will not be able to rescue Pyli’s soul!” Adrian stated as he did not stop at grabbing the contract even though miasma seeped into his very soul.

Adrian or rather Telos’ body might be special as it purifies other types of energy but directly absorbing miasma into his soul is not something he does. The miasma that should have been purified have started to attach onto Telos’ soul but he pushed through. He needed to make sure that the contract with the Dullahan is completed or else he will be in a state of severe weakness.

“Even if my soul is damaged or mutated by the miasma, I shall make sure that Pyli’s soul will never be devoured by it!” Adrian shouted as his will is conveyed towards the contract.

“Thank you, young master.” The voice of Pyli stated as he manifested in this mental plane as a soul.

[You have named the soulbound, Pyli.]

Adrian smiled but the miasma also tainted his soul because his arm and the right half of his face could be seen burning in miasma. The miasma that Adrian absorbed was not destroyed or erased when he contracted with Pyli. Telos’ soul has already fused with the miasma and weakened him but it was worth it because he has gained another soulbound to command.

As soon as Adrian succeeded with the contract, a shockwave is released by Pyli as its miasmic flames turned dark violet instead of the eerie pale green that it was before. This signified that the Dullahan before them is now the soulbound of Kalu Luwa. The named one that has been blessed by the universe when he created Summoning Magic.
