Chapter 2840: The Guild Alliance in Trouble I

Adrian is about to chat with Frey about visiting the scenic spots in Avalon when the guild alliance chat suddenly started to flare up. One of the guild territories in the alliance where the guild leader is a friend of the Valor Guild Leader Ain is currently besieged by gods. The guild is called the Undertow Guild and the Guild Leader is actually a Pirate Player named Ahab.

The Undertow guild has a territory located at the southeast part of the central continent. In that place, the number of port cities are enormous and the ones facing the sea is also quite numerous. The Undertow Guild basically got their territory when they completed a quest that unveiled the corruption of the city mayor. They were able to kill the city mayor and gain the trust of the citizens along with the land deity of the town.

Unlike other games where other guilds can just takeover territories, Pandemonium has the land deity’s mechanic. Even if another force forcibly takes over a territory, if the land deity does not adhere to such forceful takeover, then they can only temporarily takeover the land. They ones that took over will not be able to exercise any power as a lord because they are not the ones recognized as the legitimate rulers.

Having gods take over the territory is another thing though as they can force the land deity into hiding but they will not get the legitimacy like the others. The land will inevitably fall into the influence of the gods because they can terraform a place to their liking. Unless the land deity puts up a fight, the god or goddess will be able to claim the land for themselves.

The only way to claim back the stolen land is for the rightful owners of the land killing the gods that forcefully took over. The Undertow Guild Leader Ahab always focused on the safety of the people under him which is why they immediately evacuated all of the citizens when they knew that they were losing against the forces of the invading god. They even called their city with the same name as their guild to signify that is their safe haven.

[Ahab: I know that this is quite a shameless request of me since this does not concern most of you but I need help in taking back my guild territory. A god called Yamm has risen from the sea along with humanoid shark people called Samebito. It seems that they were the ones that revered the Greater God Yamm or they were enslaved by the god as the Undertow Guild does not know much about the enemies.

The Undertow Guild Leader Ahab then sent them a video of what happened to their port city. In the video sent by the Undertow Guild, a large tidal wave suddenly appeared to swallow their port city but the Undertow Guild Leader Ahab managed to block the initial assault. The large tidal wave is then blocked by the Undertow Guild Leader Ahab using one of his most powerful skills called the Ghost of Santa Maria.

A large ghostly ship with a beautiful maiden on its hull suddenly manifested above the port city of Undertow and clashed against the large tidal wave created by the Greater God Yamm. By using his most powerful skill, the Undertow Guild Leader Ahab managed to protect his port city. The only problem is that the large tidal wave did not just carry water but also the Samebito.

Numerous humanoid shark men dropped from the skies and attacked the city instantly. Fortunately, the Undertow Guild already built a comprehensive escape path for all the people to use when such a disaster occurs. They created that escape path in order for the people to escape in an event of a large tidal wave swallowing the port city but they did not expect to use it as an evacuation due to the attack of a god.

The only ones left in the port city were the Undertow Guild members and all of them fought bravely and fiercely. The only problem is that the other side had a greater god in their battle force. Even with the Undertow Guild Leader Ahab’s demigod status, he was unable to go against a greater god. He also just became a demigod due to becoming a Pirate King which means he has yet to have full comprehension of his abilities.

The other guilds were unable to give any aid because the teleportation circle was actually destroyed by the Samebito when they arrived. It seems that the Greater God of the Seas and Rivers Yamm know of the location of the teleportation magic circle. The teleportation magic circles were the first place they destroyed which made them unable to easily call for help. The heavy fighting already started which made them unable to chat peacefully as the greater god started destroying the port city.

Only when they were driven out by the Greater God of the Seas and Rivers Yamm did they contact the guild alliance for help. The Undertow guild would not have resorted asking for help if they could take on a greater god. They would only have asked the Valor guild for help if they only had one divine enemy but the Greater God of the Seas, and Rivers Yamm actually keeps a powerful divine beast with almost the same power as him.

The Greater God of the Seas, and Rivers Yamm has the Divine Beast Lotan as its mount and pet. The Lotan is none other than a seven headed sea serpent that could summon tidal waves and storms. The combined force of the Greater God of the Seas, and Rivers Yamm and the Lotan is what created the large tidal wave that almost destroyed the port city of Undertow.

The problem is that the Greater God of the Seas, and Rivers Yamm and the Lotan enhance each other’s power exponentially. If one only needs three guilds to deal with the Greater God of the Seas, and Rivers Yamm, the addition of the Lotan will need at least ten guilds to defeat both of them. The Samebito are also rising from the sea which made the Greater God of the Seas, and Rivers Yamm have an army even on land.

“Even though the Gods of Life and Death have already warned them to not join in mortal affairs, a lot of arrogant gods really want to die. They were already given an omen that they could die permanently if they get tangled in human affairs but it seems they do not care about warnings.” Adrian stated.

“What do you mean by that?” Frey asked as this is the first she heard of it even from the Goddess Freyja that regularly talks with her through their connection when she is praying.

“How should I say this? Gods are beings that basically take in parts of what they are perceived as. If they are seen with mortals as much then they are also being influence by those mortals. Even descending to the mortal realm brings them great danger as they cannot just retreat back to their divine realm if they are in trouble.

Once a god has descended albeit partially, a piece of them will always be tied to the mortal realm. If that part tied to the mortal realm is killed or destroyed then a part of them is also gone. They are only afraid of me because I can sever the connection until the divine realm but the world has changed. Mortals can now kill gods with enough preparation and those that kill gods gain their divinity in the process.” Adrian stated.

“If those that descend become influence by mortals, why do they descend anyways? Also, what happens to gods that have their descended part destroyed or killed?” Frey asked.

“Mortals are also the reason why gods are powerful. Only some gods can live without the praise and glory of mortals as they are core parts of the mortal life cycle. If a god’s descended body is killed then they will lose all of that energy. They would enter a state of slumber which might take them months or years to recover.” Adrian replied.

“Then, are we going to help?” Frey asked.

“Of course! Altum’s birthday is coming up and he needs a gift. That divine beast would surely be a great birthday present for him.” Adrian stated as he informed the available guild members to assemble.

[Equinox: The Pantheon Guild will join the reclamation of your territory but do not expect a large army from us. Most of our members are doing their missions to increase their strength but I, Frey, and Altum are available.]

As soon as the coordinates were given, Adrian along with Frey and Altum, as he responded to the call, went inside a portal and vanished from their guild home. The next thing that could see a wide cliff and a port city being walled up by a water tornado.
