One Piece – I Am A Different Luffy! - Chapter 532 – Waiting for the Enemies to Arrive.

[Chapter Size: 1900 Words.]
Third Person POV
Egghead.
…
…
“Here.” Edison, one of Vegapunk’s satellites, said as Enel approached the machine pillar that needed his electricity to be activated with an electromagnetic field.
Enel said nothing and went to the pillar, touching it with his hand, releasing his energy in millions of volts as the entire place lit up with the lightning’s flash and the machine began functioning the next moment.
In the following moment, one of the antennas on top of the base began to glow blue with electric force, the energy bursting upward, reaching a certain height and then spreading in all directions, creating a shield around the island, surprising everyone, before it simply vanished as if it never existed.
“So it is done…” Luffy, gathered in another place along with his companions, was talking to Vegapunk accompanied by the other satellites.
Luffy had already planned with Vegapunk that they should completely shut down communication from the island so no one in the city could relay the information that they were there.
For this reason, all communication devices stopped working for the outside of the island, with the layer Enel created interfering with all signal waves, the island was now isolated and would catch anyone coming there by surprise.
Turning their attention back to the group, ignoring the magnetic field around the island, everyone resumed the conversation they were having with Vegapunk.
“So all the Akuma no Mi… are created by people’s wills…?” Lami asked slowly, surprised by it.
Everyone showed equal surprise at this revelation upon hearing Vegapunk’s last words.
“Exactly. All of them. Everyone who, as long as they wish for something and that will is strong enough, creates the akuma no mi and they appear in the world.”
“But how is that possible?” Robin asked.
“It’s still a mystery even to me. I’m still on the surface of it, but all the powers that defy logic and physics that people have after eating the fruit, came from those wills.” Vegapunk explained.
“Will even for people to become gods,” Luffy commented in a calm tone.
“So… someone had the will to create my fruit. That’s why it existed.” Lucy looked at everyone and asked innocently:
“Yes, and if you’re here at a time like this, it must be destiny.” Vegapunk said, while Luffy seemed thoughtful about some things.
“Well… Anyway, Doctor… I’d like to see the old Devil Fruit encyclopedia, can you show me what you know?”
“Of course. I have some records.” He said, and Luffy gave a big smile.
He wouldn’t miss the chance to see the fruits he didn’t know yet, wondering if he could find something interesting in his system’s shop.
Luffy, along with the others, talked a lot about the Void Century, with Vegapunk giving surface-level information about what really happened. Not even Vegapunk truly knew the truth, only what he gathered from Ohara’s records.
Meanwhile, Ruby couldn’t stop crying upon learning that her companion, Jaguar D. Saul, the giant who helped her escape the island after sacrificing himself to ask Kuzan for a favor at the time, was still alive and now in Elbaf, where they would stop on their next journey.
Some members who were in the lower part of the island joined them soon after.
“Damn! She’s the girl who ate the Dragon Fruit!” Vegapunk pointed to Rebeca, who was carrying a bag full of futuristic clothes she found in the city along with her companions.
“You could say that,” Luffy replied with a smile. “And you threw it away like a piece of disposable trash. It may not have Kaido’s full power, but it’s certainly stronger than 99% of the Zoan fruits. Its dragon form can breathe fire, has a super-resistant body, and can even make islands float.”
Luffy said that with a triumphant smile, while Vegapunk lowered his head and began to fall into a deep depression.
After all, Luffy had gone to the New World after Fish-Man Island precisely to get that fruit in Punk Hazard, in the junkyard. Besides doing other things when he invaded the island, he took Monet, Caesar, killed Vergo, and went to Dressrosa to get Rebecca and her father.
“Anyway,” he continued, “your friend is in my territory, working for me. Still as arrogant as ever, claiming he’s better than you. He even said I wouldn’t need you when I have him,” Luffy said.
“What?! Who said that Caesar is better than us?!” Atlas immediately growled, pointing at Luffy, while Vegapunk just sighed.
“It’s always been like that… Well, working with him is a bit complicated,” he muttered, remembering his time with Caesar, which certainly wasn’t the best.
“Anyway, here’s my proposal. I’ll take Egghead to my territory, where the World Government won’t be able to reach it so easily. Now that I’ve found out they need your energy to actually activate the other shot of the ancient weapon, it’ll be easier to protect it there.” Luffy said with his arms crossed.
“However, I want you to help me with the projects, because my intention is to take down the World Government. I also want you to help the New Navy. And by the way, do you know where Kuma is?”
Luffy said, since he would be of great help to those organizations. And also, Luffy didn’t know where Bonney’s father was, which made her immediately raise her eyes upon hearing his name.
“I understand…” Vegapunk nodded. “And about Kuma, I still have no idea, he disappeared some time after the Marineford war…” he replied.
“We’ll have to search for him.” Luffy said.
In the end, even though York was imprisoned, all the satellites got along with the former Straw Hats, and Vegapunk was surprised that, besides being powerful, the crew had various talents in many areas.
He discovered that Lami had created a submarine, which Luffy had to go back to East Blue for, during the 1-year period they used for training in Skypiea.
While the submarine ship, which no one knew how to operate, remained stranded at the port, when Lami and Pirão were ready to start the journey to gather their crew, Luffy teleported the two of them to an island in East Blue.
He ended up getting locked in a Marine base, where Luffy had to easily break in before disappearing with the submarine.
Vegapunk had asked to see it personally, and so he did. Luffy kept it in his pocket along with his ship collection and ended up placing Lami’s submarine in a test lake they had inside the base.
He quickly observed it, impressed with what Lami had developed, in addition to her medical skills and abilities with the Ope Ope no Mi, giving her tips on the fruit’s abilities and how she could improve as Lami explained her awakening.
Lami accepted it all without arrogance, able to grow stronger as she reflected on the tips she received.
Pythagoras and Edison spoke with Bebo and saw that he had great talent in geopolitics.
Nojiko, who returned from the city with Rebecca, had extensive knowledge in general subjects, from biology to geography, while her sister demonstrated incredible skill in navigation, continuing to map every island as they traveled the world.
Nami herself had already mapped all of Luffy’s territory, from the islands at sea level to the ones floating in the sky across the territory.
Vegapunk resumed talking and was quite surprised with Enel after he started questioning Enel’s fruit.
He discovered that Enel had gone to the Moon and spent a year there, quickly bombarding him with several questions about the environment, gravity, and what else was up there, even asking to be taken, while Enel grew annoyed by the number of questions not only from Vegapunk but even the satellites, who were also interested in the possibility of going to the Moon, while Enel showed off his golden barque.
Franky also demonstrated skills in engineering, with Luffy having to throw Sunny into the lake so the satellites could study it. Meanwhile, Luffy also had his main ship nearly disassembled, and everyone was surprised by the amount of technology it had—from being able to sail through sand to being packed with cutting-edge tech, even some more advanced than anything they had.
“Where did you get all this?” Vegapunk asked.
“It was a gift. But I have to pay 500,000,000 barrels to receive the ship,” he replied.
Usopp, Chopper, and the others also grew quite close to the satellites as they chatted and toured the laboratory. Even Lucy showed Vegapunk her Nika form, since, at this point, she could already control it without depending on feeling the drums of her heartbeat, and could transform at will after spending a month training with her brother in their territory.
Luffy demonstrated a unique element in the world: the flames of chaos, which could annihilate matter, destroying atoms—something that left Vegapunk immediately stunned and filled with countless thoughts about what would come next.
“There’s something I want to see with you, but only after all this is over. And you should’ve told me that Gorosei was still alive,” Jack muttered.
“Saturn survived your comet. He’s very debilitated, but yes, he’s still alive.”
“How are the radars? Any sign of the Navy?” Luffy asked, as the satellite checked the computer.
“Mr. Luffy. There’s still nothing on the horizon. They should take some time to arrive.” Shaka said.
“I see… Saturn has the ability to summon the other elders. Maybe that’s interesting,” Luffy murmured, though he didn’t know exactly what had happened in Egghead completely. He was aware that Saturn had those abilities.
‘Maybe this is the chance to take some of them down…’ Luffy thought silently, fleeing with the island flying far away could mean missing that opportunity.
At the same time, at sea, Navy ships advanced at full speed toward Egghead.
Admiral Kizaru was at the bow of one of them, calmly analyzing the horizon, feeling numerous internal conflicts. After all, Vegapunk was his old friend, someone he held in high regard. He obviously didn’t want this to happen, or at least didn’t want to be part of it.
But that was his mission. The mission given by the fleet admiral along with the World Government.
At the same time, a strange feeling bothered him even more, as if something very bad was about to happen on this mission, but he had no idea what was happening in Egghead.
That’s why he thought it had something to do with their connection to Vegapunk and his cruel mission.
His gaze turned to the cabin inside the ship, as he knew very well who was in there, hidden from the others. That elder was heavily deformed, thanks to that pirate who had launched him into the sky, with that comet appearing once every month, but now he was there, ready to carry out the mission.
“How terrifying…” was the only thing he muttered in the end, still remembering Saturn’s new appearance.
The other ships also carried vice admirals, each with their own designations, forming a massive fleet prepared to destroy Egghead if necessary.
Then, inside the cabin, a man with his hood on was deep in thought, hands under his chin, analyzing all the information he had.
“This is strange… We’ve lost communication with CP0. York is no longer responding. At the same time, the island has gone dark on the radios. What is happening in Egghead?”
While a bad feeling crept over him, he read a report stating that the Straw Hats had regrouped and set out to sea a few days earlier.
He just didn’t expect to have the misfortune of them heading straight to Egghead at such a critical time.
What he didn’t know was that his premonitions would soon turn into a great surprise, as he would find Luffy and the entire full crew of those terrifying pirates—already waiting for them, ready to eliminate him and whoever else he might summon to help.
A den den mushi, amidst that situation, finally began to speak, while the other four elders, seated in their room, asked questions calmly.
Saturn merely sighed at his lack of information.
But the island was finally beginning to appear on the horizon.
