One Piece – I Am A Different Luffy! - Chapter 543 – The Battle of Egghead 11.

[Chapter Size: 2000 Words.]
Third Person POV
Egghead.
…
…
Luffy was receiving more and more cuts as he seemed to grow weaker.
He saw something he could take advantage of, and it was that being’s arrogance. After all, even when he started to lose speed and strength, Imu also reduced the intensity of her attack.
She wanted to toy with Luffy, making cuts on his shoulders, neck, arms, and chest, as she created openings in his attacks.
She wanted to make him suffer while their swords kept clashing in movements so fast they barely looked like they had arms at all — the only certainty there was the sparks in the air and the explosions shaking the entire area.
However, Imu began to notice that he was starting to regain his former strength, and something that surprised her — he was becoming more skilled than before, with Luffy improving his hakis, body strength, and speed to a level beyond anything he had shown before, as they exchanged blows for ten minutes.
Luffy was suffering, using a lot of his energy to constantly heal his wounds with Eikon healing, which was very exhausting for him. Even so, this Luffy was not the same one from East Blue who healed and collapsed after just a few recoveries — he was much more powerful than back then.
Luffy knew that this fight was also costing him dearly, as Imu launched attacks toward the sky, aiming directly at Vegapunk’s group, his crew, and the island’s population, intending to destroy them.
He could feel everything happening there and was only hoping that Lami could handle everything on her own while he fought here. He trusted her.
The cuts on the inferior being — to Imu — began to grow smaller and smaller with each passing second. It was becoming harder to get through his defenses. At first, she wanted to see how far his healing would go, knowing it wasn’t something easy to do, and played around, but now…
‘He’s evolving…’ Imu concluded with a grim thought.
She quickly began to move faster, nearly catching Luffy off guard with a fatal attack near his neck.
‘That almost got me…’ Luffy thought as the blade of the medieval sword grazed his skin. He had increased his stats again at the last moment to avoid having his neck pierced.
Imu continued fighting while Luffy went back to countering all her attacks, now with no difficulty.
Luffy started to see that she was beginning to put in effort, while only shallow cuts continued to be made on his body. But he had grown stronger here — he no longer faced the same difficulty as before, and from what he could tell, this was the limit of Saint Venus’ shell for that demon possessing her. She didn’t seem able to go beyond that limit.
The medieval sword began to glow more and more, while Luffy had to respond with his flames of chaos, turning the battle into one between sacred light and chaotic flames. The explosions started to grow even larger, with elements bursting in every direction.
Luffy knew that, even without visibility due to the destruction and dust spreading everywhere, with the ground being carved dozens of meters deep, creating a hole in the middle of the city hundreds of meters wide.
Everything was in chaos, even the other battles were being affected by their fight.
But Luffy remained there, enduring all the attacks — no, more than that. He could feel a sense of nervousness coming from Imu; he was getting stronger with every blow he took from her.
“Feeling nervous, world leader?” Luffy mocked, amused as he received a deadly glare from that being.
“I will kill you, inferior creature! I will destroy everything you’ve built, destroy your family and everyone you know.” she growled, moving far more than before as she tried to find any opening against Luffy.
“You’re desperate.” Luffy mocked, keeping up with her speed.
She began moving faster and faster, suddenly in that moment, with Luffy quickly clashing his weapon against her sword, nearly losing his head, casting a surprised look at that monster.
Luffy saw what she was doing.
“You intend to destroy her…” Luffy murmured with a dark look.
“I don’t care about disposing of this shell, as long as I can destroy you!” Imu said, moving faster and faster, as yellow lines began to spread across her body, as if it were cracking.
Saint Venus had a limit to how much power her body could withstand, and Imu didn’t care that she was surpassing that limit to inject more power into the body avatar still in Mary Geoise.
Luffy didn’t want that to happen, but he was struggling, as Imu’s blade pierced through one of his arms — he deflected at the last second to prevent her from striking his heart.
She slashed through his arm from the center to one side, blood splattering as Luffy pulled back defensively, quickly healing and avoiding further attacks.
Imu managed to land a strike on his side. While he had managed to defend, it gave her an opening — she appeared behind him with a golden flash of teleportation.
Time seemed to freeze at that moment, and she moved her sword to slash him. At the last moment, just before the blade touched him, Luffy moved so fast that he surprised Imu, disappearing from that spot.
“How?!” she murmured, her face full of golden cracks, with Saint Venus’ body on the verge of exploding.
Luffy didn’t answer, he just smiled. In truth, all his companions had lost the multiplied abilities he had granted them — they had already harmed the Gorosei enough, and he needed his fruit at full capacity to deal with this monster.
‘I won’t let her destroy Saint Venus either.’ Luffy thought as he finally recovered, setting his speed to 200 times. The fruit just needed some time to recharge after deactivating the awakening, and that time had just ended.
Imu lunged at Luffy again, and just as the sword neared him, he disappeared in the last millisecond.
A look of shock appeared on Imu’s face. She tried to hit him a few more times, but he was so fast she couldn’t keep up.
“No!” she growled and tried to strike him with her sword, before feeling a hand grab her face — Luffy shoved her before she could even react, slamming her straight into the ground like a bullet.
The explosion of earth erupted as all Luffy did was wait for her return, floating in the air.
She then reappeared, her sword pulled back, glowing intensely, charging a heavy attack to kill Luffy.
Luffy stood still, waiting for Imu. She was completing the charge of an ability more powerful than any other attack she had launched before, but he remained unmoved, his gaze neutral.
In the next moment, she unleashed the light slash directly at Luffy, who simply raised his sword and swatted the energy aside like it was a mosquito.
The energy flew across the battlefield, vanishing into the dust and debris surrounding the area — and disappeared from sight, as Luffy smiled, sensing it travel to another part of the island.
It kept carving its way through the chaos until it finally emerged right in front of the bird — none other than Mors. He barely had time to see the attack coming, slicing through his neck in a clean cut.
He hardly had a chance to react as his head was severed. Even Yamato, who had been fighting him, was stunned, staring toward the heart of the chaos at the center of the islands.
The attack launched from there matched the one that had been aimed at Vegapunk’s laboratory, in the space above them, which left her confused.
She looked at Mors falling, headless, hoping he would regenerate — but her eyes widened in shock, because he wasn’t healing!
“What…?” Imu screamed, shaking the entire island, as all the elders suddenly felt Mors’ life force being destroyed in that moment — rapidly, to the point they even lost telepathic contact with the bird, now reverting from his transformation into nothing more than an old man with his head separated from his body.
Everyone knew. Mors was dying. And Imu’s scream was pure outrage, while Luffy looked at the scene with a malicious grin, returning to the battlefield.
“As she told me, about her power being a weakness among you. And that’s why you wanted to eliminate her. And it looks like it worked. Thanks to you, who gathered so much strength into that attack — it was enough to do the same thing you were doing in our fight: hitting my allies, but this time, the sky was your target.” Luffy said, pausing briefly before continuing.
“Congratulations, Imu. You just killed one of your Gorosei.” Luffy mocked, saying her name openly.
“You… you…” The woman was outraged, as more and more golden veins began to spread across her body, looking like she could explode at any moment.
She launched forward in the next moment, charging with all the fury she could muster, while he simply held his sword out against her, not moving an inch. She came to a stop.
“As you can see, you can no longer fight me.” Luffy said in a calm tone, as Imu realized she couldn’t surpass the limits anymore, giving everything she had through that shell.
“I might lose here today, but I swear I will kill you, Monkey D. Luffy! I’ll hunt you to the ends of hell! I’ll leave Mary Geoise after centuries and destroy you before you become an even greater threat!” she roared in fury.
“Really? I’m so flattered, World Leader.” Luffy remained calm, with a mocking smile.
There was no talk of prophecy regarding him — nothing about being a Joy Boy. He was just Luffy — someone born in this era, without any grand destiny woven by some ancient organization like his sister had, as the promised Joyboy heir who would one day return.
No. Luffy simply entered the stage with a bit too much power early on. But even so, nothing was expected of him. And maybe that’s why Imu probably didn’t pay much attention to him in the beginning — he just seemed like a minor nuisance traveling through East Blue and the early Grand Line.
Despite his feared name, she never associated it with being a leader capable of doing everything he did. Meanwhile, she should have been watching people like the user of the Nika fruit, or even the Ancient Weapons that had been born.
“Now I have to find some way to remove you from this body.” Luffy remarked with a look as amused as it was bold, still holding her back, their swords locked.
At the same time, suddenly, something began to descend toward the city, falling straight from the clouds — through one of the holes Imu had created.
Luffy, and even Imu herself, looked up in surprise as a massive robot slammed into the ground and rose, its eyes glowing.
She looked toward a woman fighting in the distance, dressed in white, against Topman.
“Joy Boy… He has returned…” it spoke, as the drums of liberation echoed nonstop.
