Chapter 196: Chapter 196: The Hellish Horde’s Loot [2], Finding Emilia
Once Leon had finished fusing all of his sub-talent scrolls and reached a result he was more than satisfied with, he didn’t waste any time standing around admiring it.
Because for him, power only mattered when it was actually put to use, and without hesitation, he picked up two of the scrolls and casually tossed them toward Celeste.
Celeste reacted quickly and caught them both without any trouble.
But the moment her eyes landed on the contents of the scrolls, her entire expression froze as her brain took a second to process what she was seeing.
Written clearly in front of her were words that completely changed everything.
“Holy shit…” Celeste muttered, her mouth hanging slightly open as she looked back up at Leon, clearly stunned, “Are you serious?”
Leon simply shrugged, his tone calm and almost indifferent as if he didn’t think it was a big deal.
“[Master of Elements] already pushes my fire affinity to SS-Level,” he explained casually, “so I don’t really need it, I’ll be fine without it.”
That was the truth, because for Leon, he couldn’t really stack it anymore than he already had.
While for Celeste, who specialized heavily in fire-based attacks, the difference would be massive.
In fact, Leon had briefly considered trying to fuse the two S-Level sub-talents together in an attempt to reach an even higher tier.
But the moment that thought crossed his mind, he immediately dismissed it.
He knew very well that the chances of failure were absurdly high, likely close to ninety-eight percent, and there was no reason to risk losing something this valuable for a gamble that probably wouldn’t pay off.
It was better to secure guaranteed power than chase something uncertain.
The [Enhancement Frenzy Liquid (Ancient)] he had could have secured his chances, but even then, Leon chose not to use it.
He knew there would be far better situations in the future where using such a rare item would bring even greater benefits.
So instead, he simply handed the scrolls over and let Celeste make use of them.
Without wasting another second, Celeste immediately poured her mana into both scrolls, her expression turning serious as she focused, and almost instantly…
Ding! Ding!
[Congratulations, you have learned the S-Level Sub-Talent: “Ultimate Flame Control”]
[You have evolved “Strength Enhancement (D-Level)” to “Super Strength Enhancement (B-Level)”]
The change was immediate. Celeste’s body trembled slightly as a surge of power flowed through her.
Her flames reacted to the new sub-talent as if they had been given a new level of life, becoming sharper, hotter, and far more controlled than before.
While at the same time, her physical strength increased significantly thanks to the evolution of her strength-based sub-talent.
Since most of her attacks were already centered around fire, this upgrade didn’t just improve her slightly, it multiplied her effectiveness to a completely different level.
Her [Combat Power] rose rapidly, climbing to nearly 460,000 in just a few seconds.
Celeste slowly looked down at her hands as faint flames danced around her fingers, her eyes shining with excitement as she felt the difference.
“Wow…” she said quietly, clearly amazed, “I don’t think I could have ever reached this level by myself.”
Her flames were no longer just powerful, they were refined, controlled, and far more efficient, allowing her to produce stronger effects.
Leon watched her reaction with a small smile.
“Good,” he said simply, “but that’s still nothing compared to what we need to reach.”
Hearing that, Celeste nodded without hesitation.
She already understood that Leon’s goals were far beyond just surviving in this domain, he was aiming for something much bigger, and she had no intention of falling behind.
Leon then turned his attention back to the rest of the items scattered on the ground, his expression shifting slightly as he prepared to go through the next step.
Without hesitation, he began consuming the essences one after another.
Nom! Ding! Nom! Ding!
The notifications quickly followed.
[+290 Agility, +300 Spirit, +700 Strength]
“Nice,” Leon nodded, clearly satisfied with the results.
Still, he didn’t keep everything for himself.
He deliberately set aside ten [Pyroman Ape Essences] and nine [Fire Hobgoblin Essences], knowing exactly who they were meant for.
He handed all of the [Fire Hobgoblin Essences] to Celeste, since they provided a direct boost to strength, something that perfectly matched her combat style with the spear.
While the remaining essences were reserved for Emilia, who would benefit from them once they regrouped.
After that, Leon moved on to the [Pyroman Ape Fur x40 (Rare)] items, preparing to enhance them through fusion, his focus returning as he carefully went through the process step by step.
The fusions took some time, but by the end of it, the results were more than worth it.
Fwoosh!
(Max) [Pyroman Ape Fur +4 (Rare): +2,800 Constitution, +1,700 Spirit. High resistance to fire-related attacks.]
Leon had successfully pushed three of them to the maximum level.
Without hesitation, he equipped the first one around his own neck, feeling the immediate increase in durability and resistance as the fur settled comfortably.
Then he handed the second one to Celeste, who accepted it with a smile, while the third was, once again, reserved for Emilia.
“Sorting through all of this actually takes longer than the fight itself,” Celeste said with a small laugh as she adjusted the fur around her neck.
“Yeah,” Leon replied with a nod, “but in the end, it’s always worth it, since it makes us stronger.”
At this point, only two major items remained.
The [Hell Bat (Legendary)] and the [Skill Book: Hellish Swing (Legendary)].
Celeste picked up the weapon and examined it for a moment, clearly impressed by its stats, but after a few seconds, she shook her head slightly.
“It’s definitely MUCH stronger than my current [Mist Spear +2], but… I don’t really feel like switching weapons,” she admitted.
“That makes sense,” Leon nodded.
Weapon preference wasn’t just about stats, it was about familiarity, comfort, and fighting style.
Switching to something completely different could actually make someone weaker despite the higher numbers.
Leon himself wouldn’t switch away from his sword either, even if something technically stronger appeared.
And finally…
“You can take the skill book,” Leon said with a small smile, “I already have more than enough skills for myself.”
“Thank you~” Celeste beamed as she immediately infused the book with her mana.
Ding!
[You have learned the skill “Hellish Swing”!]
[Hellish Swing (Legendary): Focus the power of your flames at the tip of your weapon and swing it to deal a powerful fire-related attack that has x1.5 of your current strength.]
Even Leon raised his eyebrows slightly when he saw the description.
“Holy hell… that’s actually really strong,” he admitted.
A strength multiplier combined with fire damage made it extremely dangerous, especially in Celeste’s hands.
Still, even knowing that, Leon didn’t regret giving it to her for even a second.
With everything sorted, Leon stored the remaining items in his [Storage Space], and the two of them finally began moving forward again.
Surprisingly, for the next few minutes, they didn’t encounter a single monster, which felt almost strange considering how chaotic things had been just moments ago.
“I think that [Hellish Hobgoblin] might have gathered almost every monster in the area,” Celeste said as she looked around, “that’s probably why there were so many at once.”
“Makes sense,” Leon nodded, “which means… it’s time to find Emilia and finish this.”
He opened his [World Map] once more and began following the direction of Emilia’s position, moving steadily through the scorched forest as the environment grew hotter the closer they got to the center of the island.
And eventually…
“Emilia!” Celeste called out as she waved and ran forward.
The elf stood ahead, two corpses lying near her feet, clearly showing that she had just finished dealing with a couple of enemies on her own.
“Hey~” Emilia smiled as she looked at them, “I figured you’d find us using your [World Map].”
“Yeah,” Leon replied as he stepped forward, his gaze slowly lifting toward the massive volcano rising in the distance, its presence dominating the entire island.
“But now that we’re all together again…” His eyes narrowed slightly as a faint grin appeared on his face, “It’s time to get this over with.”
