Chapter 197: Chapter 197: What The Hell is The Eternal Battlefield?!
After regrouping with Emilia, the trio didn’t waste any more time standing around.
At this point there was only one clear objective left in the entire [Hellish Beach] realm, and that was the massive volcano standing at the very center of the island.
Its presence dominated everything around it as thick smoke rose into the sky and a constant red glow pulsed from within, making it obvious that whatever awaited them there would be far more dangerous than anything they had faced so far.
Without hesitation, Leon took the lead and began moving forward at a steady pace, with Celeste and Emilia following closely behind him.
All three of them fully aware that there was no reason to delay any longer, especially now that they had finished gathering resources, leveling up, and strengthening themselves to the best of their current ability.
There were no more distractions. Only the final boss remained.
As they moved through the scorched forest and gradually approached the inner area of the island, the ground beneath their feet became more and more cracked, with faint streams of heat rising from below.
The air itself grew heavier and hotter with every step they took, making it clear that they were getting closer to the heart of the volcano.
“There’s really nothing left to do now,” Emilia said as she kept pace with Leon, her tone calm but focused, “I already reached level 70 too, so we’re all pretty close.”
That was true, because all three of them were now approaching level 75, which meant they were nearing the next major milestone in their progression.
Only a few more levels remained.
And after that… They would be able to enter the final divine temple.
“Final divine temple?” Celeste suddenly asked, tilting her head slightly as she ran alongside them, clearly confused by something, “But… there’s one at level 75, and then another one at level 100, right?”
For a brief moment, Leon didn’t answer.
Then, his expression shifted slightly, becoming colder as his gaze remained fixed ahead.
“No,” he said calmly, his voice steady but serious, “There’s no divine temple at level 100.”
That answer immediately caught both Celeste and Emilia off guard.
Celeste frowned slightly, clearly trying to process that information.
“That’s… strange,” she said slowly, “Then how do you even reach the [Eternal Domain]? It can’t just be instant, right?”
Leon remained silent for a second, as if recalling something. Then he spoke again.
“The most dangerous place we’ll ever face before reaching the [Eternal Domain],” he said, his tone carrying a weight that made both girls instinctively tense up, “the [Eternal Battlefield].”
The moment those words left his mouth, a chill ran down both Celeste’s and Emilia’s spines, because even without knowing the details, the name alone carried a sense of danger that was impossible to ignore.
“The [Eternal Battlefield]…” Emilia repeated quietly, her eyes widening slightly, “that sounds… insane.”
“It is,” Leon replied without hesitation as they continued moving forward, “and that’s not even the worst part.”
He paused briefly before continuing.
“Most people don’t even choose to step into the [Eternal Domain] in the first place, but even for those who do… something stands in their way, making sure that only the absolute strongest can move forward.”
Celeste swallowed lightly as she listened.
“So we’re going to have to go through that eventually?” she asked.
Leon nodded, “Yes,” he said simply, “but not now.”
His gaze remained calm, but there was a clear determination behind it, “We’ll prepare for it properly.”
Unlike the others, Leon had already experienced the [Eternal Battlefield] once in his previous life.
And even though there was no guarantee that things would be exactly the same this time, he still had a massive advantage in terms of knowledge.
He knew what kind of strength was required, what kind of threats existed there, and how unforgiving it could be for anyone who entered unprepared.
Of course, there was no guarantee his assessment in his past life would be the same in this one, in fact, Leon very much doubted so.
With his luck and the fact he was a [Celestial], he’d probably the most difficult assessment possible.
But as of right now… They weren’t even close to ready.
Even at their current [Combat Power], stepping into a place like that would be nothing short of suicide.
But that didn’t matter yet. There was still time.
And before they could even think about that, they needed to finish what they had started here.
“Here, by the way,” Leon suddenly said as he reached into his [Storage Space] and pulled out a scroll before tossing it toward Emilia without slowing down, “this should help you.”
Emilia caught it mid-run and glanced down at it.
The moment she saw what it was, her entire expression froze.
“C-Can I really take this?” she asked, clearly surprised, her voice slightly hesitant, “I mean… this is an S-Level sub-talent…”
“Haha,” Celeste laughed lightly from the side, “I said the exact same thing earlier, it’s kind of funny hearing someone else react like that.”
Emilia blinked once, then looked at Celeste, quickly realizing what that meant.
“You got one too?” she asked.
Celeste nodded with a grin.
And just like that, Emilia didn’t hesitate anymore.
She immediately poured her mana into the scroll.
Ding!
[Congratulations, you have learned the S-Level Sub-Talent: “Ultimate Flame Control”]
Almost instantly, she felt the difference. Her body relaxed slightly as the intense heat around them seemed far less oppressive than before.
Her resistance to fire increased dramatically as her control over flame-based energy improved.
“Oh wow…” Emilia said as she looked around, clearly surprised, “I don’t feel the heat as much anymore… I think I’m almost immune to fire at this point.”
“Not completely,” Leon corrected her calmly, “so don’t get careless.”
Still, even with that limitation, Emilia was now ridiculously well-suited for this environment.
With her already high [Constitution] combined with her new resistance, it was safe to say that most of the threats in this realm simply couldn’t harm her anymore, no matter how long they tried.
As for Celeste… She had grown much stronger as well, but even then, she remained the weakest among the three.
Leon glanced at her briefly, his thoughts shifting.
’Those [Embers] are really annoying…’ he thought, his eyes narrowing slightly, ’her talent doesn’t even give any clear direction at all.’
At this point, they were close to reaching level 75, which meant they were nearing another major assessment.
And yet Celeste’s talent hadn’t provided a single clear hint about how to obtain additional [Embers], which were clearly the key to her growth.
She still only had the [Phoenix Ember]. And nothing else.
For something that was supposedly so important, the lack of guidance was… unusual.
Even in Leon’s previous life, he had never encountered a talent quite like hers.
It was complex. Unclear. And potentially extremely powerful.
If obtaining an [Ember] was this difficult… Then the reward had to be worth it.
Leon didn’t know whether that was a good thing or a bad thing yet.
But for now, there was nothing they could do about it.
Without saying anything, Leon handed the remaining essences to Emilia, along with the last [Pyroman Ape Fur +4 (Rare)], making sure that everyone in the group was properly equipped and strengthened before the final fight.
“Thanks,” Emilia said with a smile as she quickly consumed the essences and equipped the fur, her stats increasing further.
And just like that… They were ready.
