Chapter 202: Chapter 202: Emilia is Released, Star Comet
Fwoosh!
Leon dashed forward instantly, closing the distance between himself and the massive creature in a single burst of speed.
This time, he didn’t even consider using [Abyssal Slash], having already learned his lesson earlier.
’Though why the hell can I swim through a river of lava just fine, but get burned in my shadow form…’ Leon thought as he moved, the realization forming quickly in his mind, ’Perhaps…’
His eyes sharpened slightly.
“I get it,” he muttered to himself.
When he used [Abyssal Slash], his body completely transformed into shadows, which likely meant that his natural resistances, including his fire resistance, were either weakened or completely gone in that state.
And in a place like this, deep inside a volcano, that wasn’t a risk he was willing to take.
If he used it here, he’d probably burn instantly before even completing the attack.
So instead—
Slash!
He swung his sword directly at the [Volcano Crab King].
BAM!
The impact rang out loudly, but the boss reacted instantly, lifting its second pincer to intercept the strike.
Once. Twice. Again and again.
Leon continued attacking, testing angles and pressure, but each strike was met with solid resistance, the crab’s armor and reflexes making it extremely difficult to break through.
Still, Leon didn’t rush. And eventually, he saw it.
As he swung his sword once more, forcing the crab king to raise its defensive pincer slightly higher than before—
Fwoosh!
Leon shifted his movement instantly, ducking under the lifted claw and redirecting his momentum toward the other side.
Toward the pincer holding Emilia.
Instead of attacking immediately, he began channeling energy into his sword, a crimson aura forming around the blade, growing sharper and more intense with every fraction of a second.
And once it reached its peak—
Fwoosh! SLASH!
Crimson Dance!
Dozens of crimson slashes erupted in rapid succession, each one precise and powerful, striking directly against the pincer that held Emilia captive.
At first, the crab king held firm, its grip unwavering as its armor absorbed the blows.
But then—
Crack!
The surface of its shell began to fracture. Then again. And again.
The damage stacked rapidly, the continuous assault overwhelming even its defenses.
And finally, the boss reacted. Sensing that holding onto Emilia would only lead to further damage, it released its grip.
A large portion of its pincer was already heavily damaged, parts of it nearly shredded by the relentless barrage of attacks.
If it had held on any longer, the entire limb might have been destroyed.
That meant that Emilia was now free!
But before she could even fall properly, while still suspended mid-air, she lifted her scepter.
Her expression, which had been strained just moments ago, turned completely cold and focused, her eyes locking onto the crab king without hesitation.
Mana surged around her.
STAR COMET!
As soon as Emilia unleashed her spell, the entire atmosphere within the chamber shifted in a way that was impossible to ignore.
The very air itself had suddenly grown heavier under the weight of her power, reacting instinctively to the sheer amount of mana she was releasing without restraint.
After all, both her [Constitution] and [Spirit] were multiplied by five, which meant that every single spell she cast was overwhelmingly destructive.
Of course, Emilia wasn’t reckless by nature, and over time she had learned how to regulate that overwhelming power, understanding that blindly releasing everything at once wasn’t always the best option in every situation.
She could carefully limit her output, controlling the flow of mana to produce a more stable and precise attack, sacrificing raw power in exchange for accuracy and efficiency when needed.
But this time was different.
This time, she had just been grabbed, shaken around, and treated like nothing more than a toy by the [Volcano Crab King], and even if she wasn’t physically harmed, the frustration alone was enough to push her to abandon restraint completely.
And so, instead of holding back, she let everything out.
Fwoosh!
Almost instantly, the ceiling of the chamber darkened, shadows spreading outward as a massive light began to form above, glowing with a brilliance that contrasted sharply with the fiery environment below.
From that light, something began to take shape: a comet.
It emerged slowly at first, then rapidly solidified into a massive, star-infused projectile that radiated power in every direction.
Its surface shimmered with golden light while leaving behind a glowing trail that resembled fragments of stars breaking apart as it descended.
It wasn’t nearly as massive as [Oblivion Meteor], obviously, as it was nowhere near the power of a [Forbidden Spell].
The [Star Comet] was roughly three meters in size, dense and compact, its power tightly compressed rather than spread out, and as it began its descent, the air around it warped under the intensity of its energy.
“Krkrk?”
The [Volcano Crab King] reacted almost immediately, its massive legs shifting as it attempted to move sideways, trying to step out of the comet’s trajectory before it could make contact.
But—
“No can do,” Emilia said with a faint grin, her eyes locked onto the target as she swung her scepter slightly to the side.
The moment she did, the comet changed direction mid-air.
Its trajectory shifted instantly, adjusting its path as if it had a will of its own, following the movement of Emilia’s weapon with perfect precision.
Leon’s eyes widened slightly as he watched that happen in real time.
’She can redirect it… even after casting it,’ he realized, his thoughts sharp as he analyzed the ability, ’That’s insane control.’
There was no escape anymore.
BOOM!
The [Star Comet] collided directly with the [Volcano Crab King]. The impact was catastrophic.
Even though the attack came from above, the sheer force behind it didn’t just strike the boss, it crushed it entirely, slamming into its massive body with overwhelming pressure that shattered its outer shell and drove it down against the platform.
There was no resistance. Just raw destruction.
Emilia got up a moment later, already stepping back as she raised her scepter again, her expression still cold as she prepared for anything that might come next.
Meanwhile, Leon didn’t stay focused on the boss for long.
Instead, he turned immediately toward Celeste, recognizing that the smaller enemies were still a problem that needed to be dealt with.
Ice Spikes!
He attempted to summon his spell from beneath the ground, aiming to impale the crab kin from below in one swift motion.
But nothing happened. The spell failed before it could even manifest properly.
’The spikes are melting before they can even form?’ Leon realized instantly, his expression tightening slightly as he understood the limitation, ’Damn… the heat is too much here.’
Still, that didn’t stop him.
Without hesitation, he lifted his staff again, switching strategies immediately.
Using [Advanced Necromancy], he summoned his undead army once more.
Fwoosh!
One after another, skeletons rose from the ground, their forms assembling rapidly as they emerged, a total of twenty-five units forming in mere seconds, each one radiating a steady aura of power.
Each skeleton had around 420,000 combat power.
Individually, they weren’t enough to challenge something these crabs, but when combined, they became a force to be reckoned with.
Without waiting for orders, they rushed forward, moving toward the crab kin that were still engaging Celeste, attacking in coordination as some swung their weapons while others launched spells depending on their type.
This gave Celeste the opening she needed to regain control of the fight on her side.
Meanwhile, Leon turned his full attention back toward the boss.
The [Volcano Crab King] was in terrible condition.
Its shell was almost completely shattered, cracks running across its entire body as pieces of its armor had been blown away by the impact of the [Star Comet].
One of its eyes had been knocked out of place, hanging awkwardly as its movements became slower and more unstable.
One of its pincers was completely destroyed. The other hung loosely, barely functional.
And yet, it wasn’t dead.
“Krkr… KRAK…!” it let out broken, distorted sounds as it struggled to move, its legs scraping against the ground as it tried to remain standing despite its injuries.
Leon narrowed his eyes slightly. Something wasn’t right.
And then, the boss activated its strongest skill.
ERUPTION!
