Chapter 196: Construction Site Battle
Seeing Lucy lie there like she was dead made Isaac’s rage burn hotter. His spider legs allowed him to move quickly, but now that the weaker foes were down, about five of them remained with his classmates who stayed behind, their eyes trembling at what he had done to the other men.
Of the five men, two were more iconic. One was lean with long black hair, and the other had a scar over one eye, and that eye was closed. Two of them were definitely strong King Tiers.
The faceoff didn’t last long as Isaac moved, but the lean man unleashed a chimeric summon from a portal. It was a Skeleton Human-Faced Centipede, a ten-foot-long centipede completely made of bones.
It had the skull of a human, and it had long bone legs like that of a spider. Those legs weren’t befitting for a centipede; they looked like the long legs a spider would possess.
The centipede summoner, Black Skull, manifested bone legs from his back, and it looked like Isaac’s spider legs but made of ivory bones. He used Echo to manifest a long segmented bone tail.
Black Skull also covered his hands with bone blades. His Skeleton Centipede lashed out at Isaac, who instinctively shot a web back, pulling himself away, but the centipede was faster.
It was already by his side in the next moment, its hollow eyes staring right at him. It swung its sharp legs, and Isaac blocked, but the centipede slammed him right through the rooftop.
He slammed into the floor of the third floor, coughing, but just then, a huge figure widened the hole at the rooftop as it plummeted to crush Isaac.
This King Tier summon was a humanoid with skin as dark as a starless night sky, but it had tribal markings all over its heavily robust physique. The markings had moon-like glows.
The summon had a white mask, which looked like a helmet with a visor, and braided white hair that whipped behind it as it fell with a white spear.
This thirteen-foot-tall, robust humanoid summon only wore a straw skirt.
Seeing this, Isaac swiftly summoned his spider. The spider was so huge it reached the ceiling of the floor, blocking the Herculean summon with its legs.
The impact of two King Tiers caused violent ripples that shattered the pillars, forcing the third floor to collapse on itself, and once more, Isaac fell to the second floor.
Dust rose up while the debris was everywhere. Isaac’s summon webbed him and threw him to its back as the second floor collapsed, followed by the first floor.
Isaac stood on his summon’s back, looking around the dust fog. He heard sounds and activated an adaptive skill, where his spider shot lots of webs in an instant, forming a web prison.
It was lots of webs sticking to other buildings in tight, confusing patterns. Everyone was tied down by webs and attached to several other web strings as thick as a human’s forearm!
The web swiftly lashed out, covering three of them in a cocoon of webs that could resist flames.
One tried combusting himself, but it didn’t work; he only drained what little oxygen he had and died.
Meanwhile, Black Skull’s summon sliced through the web strings around him. It was so fast that its summoner didn’t even need to move a finger. He landed lightly on his feet, his tail moving slowly behind him while the other had fused with his summon.
With a low grunt, he tore the webs apart and landed on his feet.
“I was afraid that might hold you, Hercules.” Black Skull said as he glanced at Hercules, who now fused into his summon, turned his head toward him and scowled.
Was that some kind of joke?
Black Skull’s eyes gleamed when he saw Isaac’s summon heading for Lucy, who was buried in the rubble with just one arm sticking out, and quickly sent his Skeleton Centipede to intercept.
It moved so fast it seemed like it was flying while he leaped onto its back.
Isaac’s summon shot a web, but Black Skull cut through it and commanded his centipede to launch its tail side at the boulder where Lucy was, intending to pierce through it.
Isaac’s summon latched a web to the tail and forced it off its original course, but, unknown to him, Hercules was right behind.
He grabbed one of the spider’s eight legs and stomped hard, shattering the rubble beneath his pitch-black bare foot.
His muscles bulged and the giant spider was tossed into the air. Isaac’s eyes widened as he found himself mid-air in an upside-down position.
A spear reflected in his eyes. It tore through the air, heading straight for his chest. The full force of a King Tier summon; he couldn’t counter that.
The spear pierced through his chest, launching him over two hundred feet away with blood trailing in the air.
Hercules appeared beneath the spider, launching a blow that created shockwaves, and the summon, usually immune to blunt attack, collapsed with a massive wound.
“It’s been a long while since you used your full strength.” Black Skull said as Hercules grabbed one of the spider’s legs and dragged it.
“Who said I used all my strength?” He tilted his head, revealing half his masked face to Black Skull, who stood on his summon as it casually threw away large concrete slabs and brought Lucy out.
Hercules’ summon, the Herculean Demigod, was a summon renowned for its raw strength. It was so powerful, summons 1.5 tiers above it were still victims. Such overbearing characteristics gave this summon its name, Herculean Demigod.
“I might be an inferior, but once our God awakens, I shall be granted a summon like yours and become a superior.” Black Skull said softly.
Hercules scowled and was about to rip out the spider’s legs, but it suddenly vanished. Grunting angrily, Hercules turned to the wounded kid dragging himself toward them.
’Silas is already gone. Who exactly is he that thinks he can kill me and Lucy without facing repercussions?’ Isaac thought, but it was cut short as he coughed blood.
His eyes roamed the site. Silas was nowhere to be found. All this while, Silas had been silent in class, just a mysterious new transfer, but when he decided to reveal his true colours, he did so with Fanatics as his henchmen.
A follower of Cain was in their school, a place meant to produce agents whose sole aim was to fight against dungeons and Cain’s followers!
How was that even possible?
“He’s already done it.” Black Skull looked at their dead comrades.
“Let’s go.” Hercules said with a deep tone, but another voice, coming from a totally opposite direction to where Isaac stood, replied, forcing them to turn back.
“It’s unfortunate that you might have to remain here?”
