Chapter 273: Reunion/ A Wife’s Death Glare
A few hours later, Godfrey and Victoria were walking down the street toward his home when they saw Ronald.
He stood outside, staring in the other direction. It was obvious Ronald had been waiting for his son’s return.
When he turned toward them, Victoria chuckled. “Daddy’s worried you’re out late.”
Godfrey shot her a side glance yet his expression remained the same. Unfortunately, Victoria took it to another level.
“It’s cute.” She beamed, quickening her steps toward Ronald. “I can see he’s giving you a hard time.” Whispering into his ear, she headed for the door.
“I want us to talk.” Ronald told Godfrey who went past him and was currently ascending the staircase, heading straight for the door.
Godfrey paused.
A sigh escaped Ronald’s lips. “… Would you like to talk? If you don’t want to, we could do it another time.”
“If you have anything to say it’s best you say it now.” Godfrey sat on the staircase, facing his father.
Ronald sat beside him, blinked and looked at him from the corner of his right eye. “I heard you had blue eyes.” He told Godfrey while looking at those unnatural eyes staring back at him.
“Is that what you wanted to say?”
“I know you’re upset but from what I’ve heard from your mother I feel like you’re not resisting who I am, you’re resisting because I might be an impersonator.”
Godfrey’s eyes narrowed at Ronald’s words.
“I get it. With what both of you have gone through, it would be strange if you weren’t suspicious, you must have been scarred quite deeply. And yet you still want to accept me, you need reasons that can’t be doubted. Isn’t that so?”
Father and son looked at each other.
Ronald looked at the sky filled with countless stars but no moon. “Do you know how big this universe is? There are countless races out there, even that of ants, and above these races stand beings called Titled gods, entities that stand at the top. Across multiple worlds with trillions and trillions of existences there are only a few thousand of them. I was lucky to meet one of them, the Golden Fate Weaver.”
He turned to Godfrey. “An elven god and she told me my future will be woven by my hands because the original is gone… meaning I had died, my story had ended, there was no more need for Ronald Daniels.”
Godfrey frowned.
“I saw my true fate. I died the day you were born, sacrificing my life to push back those orcs and then I saw the new one. This time around there was a man about to feed you to his summon. You were just a newborn, you’ve seen this part.”
Ronald smiled softly. “Though I stopped him, I lost my courage that day. I cowered in fear that someone was after you which resulted in a loss of my arm but I survived. It was better to be a coward and live to protect you and your mother.”
“It’s odd but it was thanks to you that I’m alive, because the original fate was that you lost your old man the day you were born. You’re not supposed to have a father.” Ronald turned to Godfrey, and blinked when he saw Godfrey’s shocked expression.
’Oh, I’ve always wondered. How did you deal with the prisoner the authorities released to kill you? He was their last option so how did you defeat someone who could teleport to your past and kill a weaker version of you?’
He recalled a question Snow asked him in the few days they were together. He could clearly remember after defeating the tracker he stared at that crumbled building.
Someone was supposed to be there, someone was with the tamer but that person had vanished without a trace that day.
He really didn’t think much of it but to think what should have been the death of him ended up changing his father’s fate and bringing him back.
“You doubt me? I know you didn’t see it in the gold memory resonance but that’s because it can’t pick up moments with a Titled god, she was the one who gave me that skill and also strengthened my skills.”
Ronald’s shoulders slumped. “I had to. I had to become a follower or I wouldn’t have been able to rise to my current strength. It doesn’t mean —!”
Ronald was shocked when he saw Godfrey smile. It was bright and filled with relief.
“We should go inside.” He rose to his feet, stretching his hand towards his father. His tone was light, his face bright even when his eyes remained in Black-Out.
’I guess not even Cain expected this twist.’
Ronald smiled, grabbed his son’s hand and got up.
Both men heard a squeal from the window.
Ronald cleared his throat while Godfrey opened the door, eyeing his mother and Victoria who sat on separate sofas acting like they weren’t eavesdropping on their conversation.
“Dad said he met a beautiful elf goddess.” Godfrey announced.
“What?!” Valentina snapped her head toward Ronald who was shocked at the sudden verbal blow.
“Tsk!” Victoria clicked her tongue.
“I was just joking.” Godfrey smiled. “Mom, Dad, I need to officially introduce you to someone.”
Godfrey summoned Isolde. A portal opened and she appeared.
Usually a summoner’s mind was connected to the summon which was why they could emerge reacting to the situation but Isolde was different. She was dead before being revived and her mind was already connected with thousands of dragons, an entire race.
Her title as Mother of Dragons was that of a progenitor, making her a completely unique being that had sworn allegiance to the Golden Order.
And because of that, Isolde appeared in a white nightgown with a lace robe on top. She was rubbing her lips together with a lip gloss on her right hand.
At the sight of Godfrey’s parents, the lip gloss fell from her hand. Her heart skipped a beat as her draconic eyes located the man responsible for this with a deadly glare.
She wanted to kill him.
Isolde had just been trying out different kinds of negligées she ordered. Based on the standards of the current Earth, she stood amongst the class of models in terms of beauty. She knew of her looks but still wanted to make another intentional effort to make Godfrey go crazy, hence the sensual negligées.
But she had just changed and was examining her face when this happened.
Good gracious!
Godfrey smiled awkwardly, his eyes reverting to ocean blue.
