Chapter 281: Crimson Emperor — Emperor Of Bosses
The aura radiating from the emperor was something Godfrey had never felt before. He released his first core, swiftly manifested an Echo of Ballista’s bow and activated Ballistic Havoc.
The air blew out as Godfrey launched over three hundred arrows in an instant, each packing enough power to rip through three skyscrapers as he pumped a great amount of mana into them.
Each of them crackled with intense lightning as they came at the emperor all at once then lightning exploded and smoke rose as Godfrey lowered his bow, eyeing the throne dais riddled with arrows, some of them somehow deflected and struck the pillars, the throne was also filled with arrows, including the wall behind.
And yet, the emperor stood there, completely unharmed, his head tilted with unfiltered arrogance that slowly turned into contempt.
There was something about that armour that made Godfrey’s eyes narrow.
“Is that all?” The emperor’s voice rang. It came from beside him.
Godfrey’s eyes slowly widened as his irises went to the emperor who had clenched his fist, throwing a punch at him. It was fast, incredibly fast even for him but this wasn’t his first battle on the edge, besides he had the body and instincts of a knight who had trained for centuries.
He lifted his sword to block the punch, preparing to counterattack with a slash to the emperor’s lower body but the moment they collided, Godfrey’s longsword broke while he was sent flying.
A loud boom resounded when he slammed into a pillar. Due to the dense mana concentration in this dungeon, the entire palace was incredibly durable, the pillars themselves would prove harder to destroy than a skyscraper on earth yet, cracks spread out when Godfrey crashed into it.
That giant eye appeared behind the emperor once again and suddenly unleashed a beam so hot and fast that the middle section of the pillar was obliterated almost instantly.
Godfrey dodged by a hair’s breath. From the little he had seen, if this emperor entered earth, Beijing would crumble in less than forty-eight hours.
The giant eyes unleashed another beam. Godfrey manifested an Echo of Mountain’s shield. That beam was fast, a little too fast but the shield came out on time.
At the moment it seemed the beam would hit the shield, it curved. Godfrey’s eyes widened as he forced his body with all his might to turn. Unfortunately, it struck him on his left side. His armour was burned off and his flesh screamed.
His left arm, chest down to the left part of his waist was scorched beyond recognition. The beam had to first destroy his armour or it would have wiped out half of him.
Death flashed right past his eyes. Just what kind of boss was this? An emperor amongst bosses indeed.
He staggered. The emperor wasn’t about to let him breathe, it was already looming above him with a condescending gaze.
“My word is law. And as I have spoken, the dead do not grow!”
He launched a fierce kick that was dodged by taking his left foot backwards and leaning his body in the same direction, his eyes facing the ceiling.
Godfrey saw how the wind lashed out just because of the emperor’s kick. It ripped two pillars apart. These could as well be two skyscrapers gone with a kick.
With gleaming eyes, Godfrey manifested a sun-ball above his palm. At the same time his eyes brightened as if the golden glow within wanted to burst out.
He slammed the ball right at the emperor’s face, taking advantage of the boss’s landing. At the same time, Godfrey activated Sun Annihilation.
The top of the palace was first blown off by roaring flames, rising sky-high before the flames swept out, consuming the pillars and walls, blowing up everything. One instant, the palace was there, in the next, it was replaced with a mushroom cloud made entirely of flames, standing tall over a scorched terrain.
Another flame like a dome that started small until it grew to incredible heights blew the buildings surrounding the palace and more. The massive courtyard, several times the size of the real forbidden city’s palace courtyard was wiped off.
Smoke rose from the ruined ground. Everything was black, scorched beyond recognition yet the emperor who had taken the blow straight to the face simply tilted his head up.
There wasn’t a scratch on his armour, it was just covered in soot.
“I’m impressed. You’re not weak, human. Unfortunately, the fate of this battle has been decided.” The emperor spoke as he lowered his head, gazing right at Godfrey who couldn’t believe his eyes.
The emperor’s giant eyes appeared behind him.
It shot a beam which Godfrey summoned a shield to block since they were too close but it tore a hole through the shield, burning his hands into a mess as he was sent skidding backwards.
Godfrey’s breathing became unsteady. He couldn’t even breathe properly with all this pain. ’It might shoot again.’ His mind echoed and his body obeyed, lowering his torso with one hand clutching the black sand as the beam flew over his head.
’An uncontainable existence…’ His voice rang in his mind as he released his second core. Mana flowed through his body like a broken dam, his eyes gleamed.
’I won’t die like this, not here, not now. Even fate knows… it doesn’t define me.’
A roar tore out of his throat as he activated the sun flames, not externally but within him. His hair burst into flames as hot as the sun, his fists were like he brought them fresh out of a forge.
His skin almost burned away, unable to withstand the heat. This was the reason Solstice dared not use all of his flames without entering his dragon form.
Only the sun dragon’s body could harness all of its fire ability. A human body would crumble. This was flames from the Origin sun, much hotter than earth’s sun.
Godfrey exhaled, flaming billowing out of his mouth as his mana worked on pumping out fire while also healing his body to ensure he didn’t collapse.
He summoned Solstice twin-swords. Seeing this, two swords grew out of the emperor’s gauntlets and he wrapped his fingers around them.
