Chapter 267: 267:Simon Vs Ethan
“Don’t worry, the fight will be over soon.” Simon sneered.
His cruel voice was low and calm. Without wasting more breath he dashed forward as gusts of crimson lightning gathered around his spear. His cold killing intent spread out like a suffocating wave.
Ethan also stopped talking. He activated the Lightning Movement and shot forward, meeting Simon head on.
With each step Ethan took, the ground shuddered and cracks spread in every direction like something massive and ancient was walking across the earth. Even with Lightning Movement activated, Simon looked faster than him. The bulky man moved with unnatural speed and was the one who closed the distance first.
Simon stopped suddenly and used the last of his momentum to thrust his spear forward in a fierce stab.
His spear technique was direct and merciless. There was nothing flashy about it. It was not like the techniques Ethan had read about in novels or seen in fantasy movies. It was just a simple stab, yet the power behind it was terrifying.
Ethan dragged his greatsword behind him. When Simon stopped, Ethan also stopped. He used the remaining momentum of his charge and as the muscles in his arms tightened and expanded, he swung his sword forward with all his strength while letting out a fierce roar.
BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM!
Even before their weapons touched, the pressure clashing between them was enough to tear the air apart. The piercing force of Simon’s spear split the wind into two clear halves and the aura around Ethan’s greatsword blasted the atmosphere into a chain of loud explosions. The nearby houses shook violently, dust falling from cracked roofs.
The heat from the flames around Ethan’s spear burned against Simon’s face.
The flames flickering on Simon’s spear crawled into the air and made Ethan’s muscles twitch as if something sharp was scratching inside his skin.
The two weapons had not even collided yet, and the pressure was already unbearable.
Finally, the flame-covered greatsword and the lightning covered spear clashed.
For a moment time froze.
Then everything erupted.
BOOOOMMMMM!
The ground shook violently as cracks spread like shattered glass. Rocks flew into the air. A giant sphere of compressed air expanded around the two fighters and the sky above them began to rumble.
Rumble…
BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM!!!
A massive explosion tore through the place. The sphere of air, hundreds of meters wide, burst outward with destructive force.
Trees, boulders and everything near the impact zone were crushed into dust. Hills within two hundred meters collapsed into piles of rubble.
Lightning exploded from Simon’s spear as the flames around Ethan’s sword flared wildly. The two elements twisted around each other like they were fighting their own battle, refusing to let their masters be injured.
Simon felt like a giant hammer smashed into his hands. His fingers went numb and the spear vibrated violently. The crimson energy coating his weapon shattered like a soap bubble and vanished.
He could not believe it. He could not believe the terrifying power of the person he was fighting. His cold expression cracked into a look of pure shock for the first time.
When Ethan’s sword hit his spear, Simon had to use all of his fighting experience and force as much strength as he could into his legs, pushing all the shock down into the ground. His legs sank deep into the broken concrete. If he had not done that, he would have been thrown away like a rag doll.
But Ethan did not escape unscathed either.
Just as he destroyed the spear strike and prepared to attack again, he saw Simon twist his bulky body. The cruel man spun full circle and lifted his leg at a strange and unnatural angle. His movements were sharp, vicious and trained for killing.
Ethan’s instinct reacted. He released his left hand from the sword and raised his arm to block.
But Simon moved in a way Ethan had never seen. His leg snapped sideways and his kick slammed into the left side of Ethan’s body, just below the ribs.
BANG!
The impact exploded like a cannon blast.
Even with the protection of his armor, Ethan felt as if his bones were about to turn into powder.
To avoid any serious injury that could trouble him later, he let his body follow the force of the enemy’s kick. His body flew through the air and the blood inside him churned violently. Ethan did not fight back this time and instead allowed the momentum to carry him away.
Simon felt like he could finally relax a little but then every hair on his body suddenly stood up. It felt like a beast sensing danger. His eyes narrowed sharply as he caught sight of a dark red glow flying toward him. He realized that he could not dodge it completely, so he used every bit of his combat experience to tilt his body back. Then he slipped to the side at the last second.
Swoosh.
A small but extremely sharp arrow tore through the air. It brushed past Simon’s leather armor and pierced the skin of his left shoulder. It ripped through the flesh, entered from the front, and exited through the back.
Bang.
The condensed energy arrow continued to fly before striking the ground. It exploded into a lightning splash that stained the ground with a burn
Simon felt a wave of cold fear. If that arrow had reached one second later, it would have gone straight through his throat.
Ethan clicked his tongue in irritation when he saw the attack miss. His boots scraped across the ground, carving two long ditches as he slid backward. He dug his greatsword into the earth to stop himself. A brief grimace of pain crossed his face from the sudden motion and he leaned slightly to his left to ease the stab of pain from Simon’s earlier kick.
“What a surprise. It really is unbelievable.” Simon stared at him with open shock and then shifted his gaze to Ethan’s giant sword wrapped in lightning. His expression turned strange. “You really look sharp.”
