Chapter 303: 303:The Wyvern King Vs Ethan
A violent cyclone erupted around him. Wind and flame mixed together, forming a spiraling storm that slammed into the Wyvern King’s wings.
The beast shrieked as its balance was disrupted. It was forced downward, crashing into the ground with earth-shattering force.
BOOOOOM!
The mountain shook. Rocks rolled down the slopes. Lava cracks spread wider as molten heat seeped out.
Ethan did not stop,he waved his hand casting another spell.
Soon, lightning gathered above the Wyvern King.
CRACK! CRACK!
Bolts of lightning struck down one after another, hammering its scales. The ground glowed red as electricity and heat fused together. The Wyvern King roared in pain and fury, thrashing wildly.
It slammed its tail again.
The tail swept through the battlefield, flattening everything in its path. Ethan barely dodged, blinking away at the last moment as the tail carved a massive trench through the land.
He reappeared above the Wyvern King and brought his sword down.
BOOOOM!
The blade smashed into the creature’s back, driving it deeper into the ground. Dust and smoke billowed upward, swallowing everything in thick clouds.
For a moment, there was silence.
Ethan hovered in the air, breathing heavily, his eyes locked on the smoke below.
Then something surged.
From within the smoke, a beam of violent energy shot upward and then curved toward the army.
“BASTARRDDDDD!” Ethan roared.
He vanished.
In a flash of light, he appeared directly in front of the soldiers.
The beam struck him head-on.
BOOOOOOM! BOOOOM!
The impact was catastrophic. The beam continued pushing forward for several meters, dragging Ethan along the ground. The land behind him was erased, turned into molten lava and ash.
Then the beam split.
Smaller beams shot out in all directions, slamming into the ground.
BOOOOM! BOOOOM! BOOOOM!
Each impact created massive craters. Flames erupted. Shockwaves sent soldiers flying backward.
“Fall back!” Duke Phillips shouted. “All units, retreat now!”
Soldiers scrambled, fear gripping their hearts as they watched the destruction unfold.
When the dust finally settled, a massive rift cut through the land.
At the end of it stood Ethan.
His boots were planted deep in the ground. He held his greatsword before him, using it as a shield. The blade glowed red-hot, cracked but unbroken. Molten lava dripped from its edge, hissing as it hit the earth.
Smoke curled around his body.
Despite the devastation, Ethan was still standing.
He slowly raised his head and stared back at the Wyvern King.
The smoke thinned slowly.
Ash drifted through the air like black snow, and the heat made every breath feel heavy. Cracks in the ground glowed red, and rivers of molten rock crawled through them like veins.
The Wyvern King rose from the crater.
Its body was scorched. Several scales were shattered, and one wing hung lower than the other. Yet its eyes burned brighter than before. Rage rolled off it in waves, thick enough to make the air tremble.
It roared again.
This roar was different.
It was not a warning. It was a declaration.
The remaining wyverns answered from the sky, circling faster and screaming in unison. Their cries layered together, forming a terrifying chorus that pressed down on the battlefield.
Ethan straightened his back.
He wiped the blood from the corner of his mouth and tightened his grip on the greatsword. Flames pulsed along the blade, steady and violent, while faint lightning crawled over his arms.
“So you are still standing,” he muttered.
“Good.”
The Wyvern King beat its wings.
BOOOOM!
The shockwave blasted outward, flattening what remained of the battlefield. Soldiers were forced to brace themselves behind shields and earth walls. Some were thrown off their feet despite the distance.
The Wyvern King charged ahead taking a leap instead of flying.
Its massive claws tore into the ground as it closed the distance in seconds. With each step, the land shattered, and molten rock splashed into the air.
Ethan moved to meet it.
….
“Mother let me go… I can sort it out..”
Wales pleaded, his voice trembling yet firm. His fists were clenched at his sides, and his eyes shone with stubborn resolve. Diana glared at him sharply, her expression darkening.
“I swear…. I can work this out.”
“Wales… Now you are clearly crossing the line.”
Her voice rose, sharp and cutting. She stepped closer, her gaze burning into him.
“Your father isn’t strict still that doesn’t mean you can do what you want.. There is literally a bloody war.. What if something happens to you.” Diana scolded, her words heavy with fear and anger.
But Wales did not step back. He stood his ground bravely, lifting his chin.
“No.. No… I want to go… Mama, this is a meaningless war… I can prevent people from dying… Mera please say something.”
He turned toward his sister, desperation in his eyes. Mera opened her mouth to speak, but before a word could escape, Diana shot her a sharp glare. Mera stiffened and looked away, swallowing her words.
“Mother you aren’t understanding..”
“I am not understanding..” Diana gritted her teeth, her eyes filled with a hateful mix of fear and frustration.
For a brief moment, regret flooded her heart. She regretted letting him speak with the Wyvern. That short exchange had changed everything. Just because he could talk, he now believed he could solve everything peacefully.
Negotiation would be one thing, but this was not that.
This was a war being waged right now.
Taking a child to such a place made her chest tighten painfully. If something happened to him, the thought alone made her breath hitch.
“NOooOoo!”
She shook her head violently.
“I have enough… You can’t go.. Wait for your father to come.”
“But it would be too late by that time.” Wales cried out, his voice broke out as tears welled in his eyes.
The room felt suffocating as the two stood facing each other, emotions clashing hard.
Suddenly, a calm voice cut through the tension.
“You are worried about his safety right?”
Both froze.
“Then let us accompany him.”
“Huh!” Diana turned sharply toward the entrance. Her breath caught, and her eyes widened in shock in horror seeing the familiar figure.
“You!!!”
