Chapter 314: 314: Rewards
Ethan did not open the gift immediately. He waited.
He decided that after all the childbirths were over, he would finally seclude himself and deal with everything properly. There was no need to rush. These were moments that would never return.
Thankfully, he did not need to wait long.
A month later, Lia and Diana both gave birth.
The system notification appeared quietly in his mind.
[Detected birth of host’s child.]
[The child is born with C-rank warrior potential.]
[Reward: Gift ×1]
[Detected birth of host’s child.]
[The child is born with B-rank mage potential.]
[Reward: Gift ×1]
It was a son and a daughter.
The son inherited a C-rank warrior potential, while the daughter inherited a B-rank mage potential from Diana.
Ethan held the two small bundles in his arms. They were tiny and warm, their breaths soft and uneven. One of them grabbed his finger tightly, while the other yawned and scrunched her face as if the world itself was bothering her.
Ethan smiled without realizing it.
He gently rocked them, making soft sounds, and even tried clumsy expressions to make them laugh. When one of them let out a small giggle, his heart melted completely. For a moment, the chaos of the world disappeared.
“I wonder,” he thought quietly, “when I will finally have an A-rank child.”
The thought crossed his mind naturally.
Then he looked at his wives.
They looked tired. Happy, but exhausted.
Even though they had grown stronger through cultivation, childbirth still took its toll. Time did not stop completely, even for cultivators.
A realization settled in his heart.
From now on, except for Julia,Rina and Claira, he would not allow anyone to get pregnant unless they reached the Advanced Stage. Strength came first. Survival came first.
He knew controlling protection methods was not foolproof in this world. There were limits to what could be done. Even so, he would restrain himself if needed.
Their lives mattered more than fleeting desire.
Ethan spent warm moments with them, holding hands, talking softly, and reassuring them. When everyone finally rested, he quietly left the room.
It was time.
He entered the main chamber and closed the doors behind him. The room was silent and calm, perfect for focus.
He took a deep breath.
“System,” he said, his voice steady, “open all the gift packages at once.”
“No need to open them one by one.”
[As you wish, Host.]
[DING]
The information flooded his mind one after another.
[You have gained 200 years of Martial Insight.]
[You have gained 5% Draconic Bloodline.]
You have gained Chaos Sword Art: Second Strike.]
[You have gained Arcane Thunder Blast.]
[You have gained Sword Intent Epiphany Portion ×2.]
Ethan stared at the rewards one after another. Each line made his heartbeat steadier and heavier at the same time. The rewards were generous. More than generous.
They were handsome.
“Five percent Draconic Bloodline… great.”
He clenched his fist slowly and felt a faint heat flow through his veins.
“That’s exactly what I needed. And it came at the correct time. With this, the burden on my body will be much less.”
A light laugh escaped his lips. This was rare. Genuine happiness.
Then he paused.
“However… should I absorb the full five percent at once, or should I conserve it?”
He rubbed his chin and paced slowly inside the chamber. After careful thought, he shook his head.
“No. I’ll start with one percent first. I need to see the reaction.”
He had learned long ago that rushing power always came with consequences.
His gaze moved to the next line.
“Chaos Sword Art, second part…”
He sighed softly.
The sword art was powerful. That much he knew. Sadly, he had not yet found a proper chance to display it. The technique relied on darkness and chaos. His understanding of both was still shallow. Without proper practice, forcing it would only backfire.
“I’ll need time for this,” he muttered.
Then his eyes stopped on another reward.
“Sword Intent Epiphany Potion?”
He frowned and read the description carefully.
[Epiphany Potion]
Gives the user a chance to gain enlightenment and uncover intent or aura.
Ethan’s eyes widened, and for a moment he forgot how to breathe. Then he almost jumped in place.
This was priceless.
After traveling and fighting for so long, he had learned a crucial truth. There were many so-called Master rank warriors who did not possess intent or aura. They were false Masters.
Stepping into Master rank without intent sealed the path forever. From then, there would be no growth.
That was the real reason he had never handed out the Master rank potion freely.
Hall and Rina had both found their intent. Noel had not.
Yet Noel still chose to use the potion. For him, it was worth it. He had been stuck at the Advanced stage for years. Even if his path ended there, at least he would gain power in this life.
As for Randall, Ethan knew better.
Randall already stood at the edge. His experience, his battles, and his scars were enough. He only needed one push. One moment of enlightenment.
“This potion… is meant for him,” Ethan said quietly.
Then his gaze fell to the final reward.
[Arcane Thunder Blast]
He paused.
“A spell?”
He read the description carefully.
Arcane Thunder Blast was a B-rank offensive spell. It condensed arcane mana and thunder elements into a compressed core, then released it in a violent burst. The spell focused on penetration and internal destruction rather than surface damage. It was fast, precise, and deadly.
Ethan nodded slowly.
“This is good.”
He closed his eyes and took a deep breath.
“System. Collect all knowledge.”
A massive wave of understanding surged through him. Countless experiences, battles, failures, and victories filled his consciousness. Movements became clearer.
Decisions became sharper. His foundation felt more solid than ever.
His blood burned for a brief moment. His heart thumped heavily as a deep, ancient power settled within him. It was not overwhelming, but it was undeniable.
New patterns formed in his mind. A refined, deadlier continuation of chaos-infused swordsmanship took shape, waiting to be unleashed.
Something clicked. His sword intent grew sharper, purer, and more oppressive.
Crackling energy danced across his senses. Destruction, precision, and raw force combined into a devastating spell.
The knowledge of Arcane Thunder Blast and Chaos Sword Art flooded his mind at once. Countless patterns, formulas, and movements appeared. His head throbbed, but he endured.
As the knowledge settled, lightning began to dance across his body. Thin arcs crackled around his arms and shoulders, snapping against the air.
