Chapter 340:Let’s Dance To Our Heart Content
Agros took a step back, lifting his sword again.
Then he heard it.
BANG!
It was the sound of just a single footstep slamming the ground, yet the sound carved itself deep into his mind, stirring an ancient fear.
The air around the battlefield ignited.
Dark mist caught fire. Flames rose without receiving any fuel, spiraling into a violent storm.
And from within the inferno, a man walked forward.
With each step, the ground beneath him melted into lava.
Power rolled off Ethan in crushing waves.
Draconic scales spread across his body, glowing faintly with inner heat.
“You…” Agros muttered, his eyes widening in horror. “Are you a dragon?”
He snarled and raised his sword.
“Whatever! Just die!”
He unleashed attack after attack.
[Hellfire Cleaver!]
[Void Rend!]
[Abyssal Descent!]
Blades of cursed fire, waves of void energy, and the collapsing gravity zones surged toward Ethan.
Ethan stared at the incoming destruction.
He tightened his grip on the greatsword and closed his eyes.
Rathlos’s movements surfaced in his mind, the way he manipulated his scales, and the way power flowed through them without resistance.
The draconic scales on Ethan’s body shifted and extended forward. They wrapped around the greatsword, merging with it to form a single seamless piece.
The weapon grew heavier, sharper, and alive in his hands.
Ethan opened his eyes.A violent euphoria burned within them.
“Hahahaha!”
His laughter echoed through the flames.
“Come on…”
“Let’s dance to our heart’s content.”
He stepped forward.
Then he slashed twice.
Two arcs of power crossed midair, forming a massive cross-shaped mark. It surged forward and collided head-on with Agros’s attacks.
BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM!
The world shook again as the clash tore through everything that was still standing after all the destruction.
The explosion didn’t fade after the onslaught, though…
It expanded.
The crossed arcs of power ripped through Agros’s attacks and kept going, carving the land open like a blade through flesh. The shockwaves rolled outward in layers, flattening what little remained of the capital.
Towers collapsed into dust. The outer walls crumbled as if made of sand. Even the sky seemed to crack, clouds spiraling violently around the epicenter.
Agros was hurled backward.
His massive body smashed into the ground, carving a deep trench hundreds of meters long. Cursed flames flickered wildly across his form, some extinguished by the sacred light, others burning even brighter in rage.
He slammed his bone sword into the earth to stop himself.
The sword screeched.
Black veins spread across it as Agros pushed himself upright, his chest heaving.
Cracks ran across his projection-like body, leaking dark smoke mixed with flame.
“You insignificant bastard…” he growled, his voice no longer mocking but strained. “You dare push me this far?”
Ethan stepped through the fading smoke.
Each step left molten footprints behind. The draconic scales along his arms and chest glowed brighter, pulsing in rhythm with his heartbeat. His greatsword hummed softly, as if eager for more destruction.
Ethan spoke calmly.
“You used other people as fuel. You are nothing more than a leech that survives by feeding on others.”
“So stop calling me insignificant.”
He raised the sword slightly.
“Dare to rebuke me?That alone earns you death.”Agros roared.
The sound twisted the air, rupturing eardrums of people miles away.
“Then drown in despair!”
He then slammed his palm against his own chest.
CRACK!
Dark symbols lit up across his body, as if something ancient had awakened.
[Hell Devotion: Second Offering!]
A horrifying sensation spread across the battlefield.
The ground darkened.
Shadows stretched unnaturally long as Agros’s body began to swell again, flames pouring from every crack. His bones thickened. His horns grew longer and sharper. Chains of dark energy coiled around his limbs, rattling as if alive.
Ethan’s eyes narrowed.
“So you’re burning your own essence now,” Ethan muttered, his voice heavy with fury and disbelief. “You really are desperate.”
Agros raised his bone sword with both hands.
The blade screamed as it expanded, growing wider and longer until it resembled a massive guillotine forged from death itself.
Dark runes crawled across its surface, while cursed flames wrapped along the edge like they were alive.
[CATASTROPHE REAPING!]
He then brought the sword down.
BOOOOOOOOOOM!
RUMBLE!RUMBLE!RUMBLE!
The sky split apart.
A crescent-shaped wave of annihilation surged forward, devouring light, matter, and sound alike.
Everything in its path ceased to exist. The land vanished. The air collapsed. All that was left was a hollow void, screaming as that too folded inward on itself.
Ethan inhaled deeply.
The chaotic aura around him compressed even further. The raging power was no longer spreading outward. Instead, it pressed inward, becoming dense and crushing. He planted one foot forward and lowered his stance.
The ground beneath him trembled.
Flames flickered across his body as crimson intent burst forth, flashing like lightning around his form.
“Chaos Sword Art,” he whispered.
The draconic scales along his blade locked into place with a sharp metallic clang, fusing perfectly with the greatsword. The weapon pulsed, alive in his hands.
Then, he slashed upward.
There was no flash. No explosion. Nothing at first.
The chaotic energy simply cut.
Then the wave of destruction followed.
The void froze midair, split cleanly down the center, and unraveled into nothingness. Space itself peeled apart and collapsed, erased by the clash.
“Chaos Sword Art…” Ethan slashed again.
Gripping the greatsword with both hands, he swung it again and again.
Countless slashes tore forward, forming a violent whirlwind of chaotic sword energy. Each strike layered upon the next without pause, relentless and carrying crushing force.
The backlash slammed into Agros like a falling mountain.
BOOOOOOM!
BOOOOOOM!
Sword after sword of energy smashed into his massive body. His projection cracked violently. Dark flames scattered. Bone shattered and reformed, only to be destroyed again.
“STOP!” Agros roared in agony.
He tried to raise his bone sword to counter, but Ethan didn’t give him a chance. Every movement Agros made was crushed beneath another slash. His arms shook. His form destabilized.
Agros’s body was hurled into the sky, spinning wildly. The chains of dark energy wrapped around him finally snapped apart, and large portions of his projection shattered completely, reforming unevenly as the dark mist struggled to hold his shape together.
He barely managed to stabilize himself, hovering above the ruined land, his breathing heavy, and his form flickering.
Before he could react—
BOOOOOOM!
A streak of sacred light slammed into him from above, smashing him straight down into the ground with a catastrophic boom. The earth collapsed inward, forming a massive crater that swallowed what remained of the battlefield.
Agros tried to rise.
But before he could—
Ethan was already there.
Standing at the edge of the crater, Ethan raised his greatsword high.
In the next instant, he drove it downward with terrifying force.
The blade pierced straight through Agros’s chest.
“Just die!” Ethan roared and activated the blessing of light.
“Sacred Luminous Sword Art!”
SWISSSSHHHHH!
A blinding holy light erupted from the blade, flooding Agros’s body from the inside. The sacred energy burned through the cursed projection, ripping it apart at its core.
“NOOOOOOOOO!” Agros screamed.
He thrashed violently, trying to rise, but Ethan shoved the sword even deeper, pinning him to the ground with overwhelming power. Cracks began spreading across Agros’s body as holy light and chaos consumed him together.
A massive, blinding flash exploded outward.
The world vanished in white.
It was as if a second sun had awakened, flooding everything around with unbearable brilliance.
The sky disappeared. The land dissolved, and sound itself was erased.
Then, slowly, the light faded.
Ethan found himself standing in a blank, empty space.
There was no ground. No sky. No direction. Just endless white silence stretching in every direction.
The moment he realized where he was, a chill ran down his spine.
His back tingled with a familiar sense of danger, and every instinct he had screamed at once.
“Fuck,” Ethan muttered.
He knew this feeling.
Someone had dragged him into a separate dimension, just like the Goddess of Origin had before.
He tightened his grip on the greatsword, his senses stretched to their limit.
“And for fuck’s sake,” he cursed, scanning the empty void, “I really hope this isn’t another enemy.”
Because if it was—
Even he wasn’t sure how much more he had left.
