Chapter 351:Kids Grow Up So Fast
With his knight guards, Ethan set off on the journey home.
After riding at full speed for days, Ethan and the others finally returned to Blank City.
Blank Manor.
At that moment, the garden inside the manor was lively and warm. The wives were playing and laughing with their children under the sunlight. Soft voices, light footsteps, and children’s laughter filled the air.
The moment Ethan stepped in—
“Darling, you’re back!”
A familiar voice rang out.
Before he could react, Sophia rushed forward and threw herself into his arms.
“Wuwuwu… it has been so long. I was really scared,” she said with a trembling voice.
Ethan’s lips twitched hearing this.
‘You said you are worried but your actions seemed to be saying something else.’
However, as a magnanimous person he decided to ignore it.
Soon after, cries and wails erupted from all directions.
“You’ve been gone for months.I missed you so much!”
“Honey, are you tired from the journey? Do you want me to give you a massage?”
“Are you hurt anywhere?”
The wives surrounded him instantly, talking all at once. Their voices overlapped, full of worry, fear, and relief.
Ethan felt warmth flood his heart, but at the same time, his head started to ache.
“Girls… girls, calm down,” he said helplessly.
Then he paused and looked at one person in particular.
“Also, Julia, why are you crying too?” he asked in confusion. “You are supposed to be the tough one.”
Julia grabbed him tightly and pressed her head against his chest.
“What do you know?” she said softly. “When we heard you fought off a demon descent, we were scared silly.”
Ethan sighed and smiled. “It’s okay. I’m fine.”
He hugged Sophia first, then Lia, then Diana, Claira and finally Julia, holding each of them gently. Their hands clung to him as if afraid he would disappear again.
They pulled him into a corner and started checking him from head to toe.
“Any wounds?”
“Your shoulders look thinner.”
“Your aura feels different.”
Ethan laughed helplessly as they examined every inch of him.
After calming his wives, he turned his attention to the children.
“Kids,” Ethan said warmly, spreading his arms. “Here I am. Come give Daddy a hug.”
At present, most of the children had grown up, but Noel, Lena, and Christina were still small. The moment they heard his voice, they ran toward him.
“Daddy!”
They jumped into his arms, laughing happily.
“Did you bring me a gift?” Lena asked eagerly.
“Of course I did,” Ethan said with a grin, gently patting their heads. “How could I not?”
“Hehehe!”
The children laughed, clinging to him with pure joy.
After spending time with his wives and children, exchanging affection and reassuring them, Ethan finally sat down with Sophia to ask about the situation at home during his absence.
“Nothing out of the ordinary happened,” Sophia said. “Everything was stable.”
She paused, then added, “However… Rina wanted to talk to you.”
“Okay,” Ethan nodded with a smile.
Rina was mostly in charge of the city’s operations at present. Blank City had already grown into a major commercial hub under her management.
Now that he thought about it, maybe it was time to officially give the city a name.
The next day—
“Ethaaannn!”
Rina ran over and jumped straight into Ethan’s arms, kissing him without hesitation.
“Why do you always find yourself in such situations?” she asked with a troubled smile.
Ethan shrugged. “It’s really not my fault.”
“People are already scheming again,” Rina said.
Ethan laughed and lifted her onto his shoulder. “Then I’ll just smash whoever schemes.”
Rina laughed and hugged him tighter, clearly enjoying it.
Inside the room, Ethan narrated everything that had happened. As he spoke, Rina’s eyes widened again and again.
“I never imagined the King would go to such lengths,” she said quietly.
“He was truly a scum,” Rina added with disgust.
“I wonder how many lives he reaped,” she said.
Ethan exhaled slowly. “Very hard to say, but it could be hundreds of thousands.”
Rina fell silent for a moment, then asked carefully, “Ethan, don’t you think he couldn’t have done all this alone?”
Ethan looked up.
“I’m sure he was in cahoots with an evil group,” Rina continued. “Someone must have guided him.”
Ethan fell into deep thought.
‘What if the war and disaster were just a disguise for harvesting lives?’
‘One man shouldn’t have dared to go this far alone.’
The thought gave him a strong sense of unease.
The King was dead, but the ground beneath was not clean.
After learning about higher realms and hidden powers, Ethan felt a chill.
‘If someone acts now, I could really be fucked.’
He clenched his fist slightly.
‘No. I can’t be complacent.’
‘I need to grow stronger, faster.’
‘And I should ask Hall to start looking into this quietly.’
Ethan raised his head, his eyes steady.
This peace was precious. And he would protect it, no matter what.
……..
BANG!
Files slammed onto the desk one after another, stacking into a small mountain of documents.
Ethan stared at them, his face slowly turning pale.
“This…” He looked up at Ray with a questioning gaze. “What is this?”
“I did my work,” Ray replied calmly. “Now it’s your baggage.”
“…Huh?”
“I reviewed everything I could,” Ray continued, completely unfazed. “The rest needs your direct orders. So now it’s yours.”
Ethan blinked twice. “Wait. What do you mean it’s yours?”
“Father.” Ray stared at him with a dead, soulless gaze that sent a chill down Ethan’s spine. “I want a holiday.”
“Oh… a holiday.” Ethan waved his hand casually. “Yeah, you can take a few days off.”
“It might take a few months or perhaps years.”
Ethan’s expression cracked.
“Whaaat?!” He leaned forward. “Wait a minute! What kind of holiday takes months?”
Ray didn’t answer. Instead, he released his aura slightly.
Ethan felt it and nodded. “Intermediate rank. Good. But I already know that.”
“Then you should also remember,” Ray said calmly, “that once we reach the Intermediate stage, we are allowed to leave home and travel freely.”
Ethan froze. “…Did you mean?”
“Yes. I want to travel. See the world.”
“You’re going alone?” Ethan asked, narrowing his eyes.
“No.” Ray paused. “I’m taking Florence with me.”
“Florence…”
A sudden realization hit Ethan.
