Chapter 368:The Duel 2
CLANG!
Ruel’s blade grazed past Ethan’s shoulder. The pressure alone cut the air. Ethan blocked, but the force sent him sliding back several meters. His boots carved deep lines into the stone.
Gasps came from the crowd.
“So fast…”
“He blocked it…”
Ruel looked at Ethan with surprise flickering in his eyes before fading.
“That was a solid defense, but it will not happen again,” Ruel said calmly.
Ethan exhaled slowly.
Darkness spread under his feet. His shadow deepened. He stepped and vanished into it. He reappeared beside Ruel, his hand glowing faintly with golden light.
Ruel reacted instantly. Mystic energy burst from his body. The energy slammed into Ethan and shattered the cloak of darkness, but Ethan still pushed forward.
Their attacks collided.
BOOM!
A shockwave blasted outward. Stone tiles shattered. Dust filled the air. Kane and the imperial knights released their auras at once and held the shockwave in place.
People covered their faces.
“That’s two moves…”
Ruel slid back half a step. His eyes narrowed.
“Interesting.That’s two huh!” he said.
He jumped back and bent forward slightly, gripping his sword.
“That was a warm-up. Let us finish this. Let me see if you can take this.”
His eyes flashed red.
Ethan raised his brows.
Ruel’s hair grew longer. A low howl echoed behind him, like wolves crying in the night.
The air grew colder.
“What is that…”
“Is that a bloodline…”
“Legendary Knight…”
Ethan tightened his grip, his heart steady but his blood boiling.
Now the real fight was beginning.
Ethan’s eyes narrowed as he saw Ruel’s body change.
Ruel’s hair grew longer, and a faint dark aura wrapped around him like mist. His muscles tightened, and his stance lowered, like a beast ready to pounce.
“What’s that!” Randall shouted, staring with wide eyes.
He looked around, searching for answers.
Sophia grabbed her head. “Shit… shit…”
“Sophia, calm down,” Rina said and held her shoulders, but Sophia’s breathing only grew faster.
“Calm down. How do you expect me to calm down? This looks dangerous.”
Rathlos watched closely and spoke in a low voice. “Wolf bloodline.”
“Huh!” Everyone turned to him. “What did you say?”
“That man has a demonic wolf bloodline. It greatly enhances his speed and strength,” Rathlos said. His eyes did not leave the battlefield.
“Many people carry half-demon bloodlines. For example, I have both Wyvern and dragon bloodline. Also, don’t forget your—” He stopped mid-sentence.
“Oh. Are you talking about—” Lia began, but Diana quickly covered her mouth.
“Shh.”
Everyone understood the implementation. It was similar to Ethan’s draconic transformation. Rathlos stopped because he did not know how the Empire would react if they learned about Ethan’s bloodline.
If Ethan used it, he would gain an advantage. But would he use it?
No one knew.
On the field, Ethan did not wait.
He lifted his sword and swung.
BOOM!
A bright arc of sword light tore across the ground and rushed toward Ruel, cutting the stone floor open in a straight line.
Ruel smirked. He raised his blade casually.
BANG!
With one swing, he split the light attack in half. The broken energy shot into the sky and exploded, painting the air gold.
Then Ruel growled.
The sound was low and cold, like a predator that had found its prey.
Gasps came from the crowd.
Ruel vanished again.
“Here. Take my third strike,” he said.
He came down like a falling mountain.
Ethan crossed his sword and met him head-on.
BOOOOOOM!
Their blades collided. A heavy shockwave blasted outward. The ground cracked in circles. Dust shot into the sky. The air roared.
CRACK!
Both figures were thrown back.
Ethan crashed into a stone wall. Rocks exploded behind him. Debris rained down.
But Ruel was also pushed back. His boots dragged across the ground, leaving deep lines. He slammed his sword down to stop himself.
Hall’s heart tightened. “Sir…”
Ethan stood slowly.
Blood slipped from the corner of his mouth. He wiped it with his thumb and gave a faint smile.
“Hmmm. I can match that with raw power. Sacred Luminous Art falls a bit short though,” he muttered.
“But…”
“This might change things.”
He lowered his greatsword and moved his fingers in quick signs.
SWOOSH.
Light gathered around him. Five luminous swords slowly formed in the air, floating behind his back. They hummed softly.
The five swords locked into place.
Ruel’s expression changed. A faint sense of danger pressed on him.
“What are those?”
For a moment, he felt uneasy.
Ruel gripped his sword tighter. His killing intent flared.
He swung forward and released a deep crimson slash.
BOOOM! BOOM! BOOM!
The red strike tore across the field. The ground split apart. Stone tiles were crushed into dust. The air itself seemed cut open.
The attack came fast and heavy, like a wall of force.
The five light swords moved.
They shot forward one after another, meeting the crimson slash head-on.
BOOOOOOOOOOOM!
Ruel’s blade came down and the world seemed to split with it.
The moment the edge moved, the air in front of him folded inward like it had been crushed by an invisible wall. A deep crimson arc burst out from the sword, not just light but condensed killing force, thick and violent, dragging the wind with it. The ground beneath his feet shattered before the strike had even fully left the blade, stone lifting into the air and turning into dust.
Then it hit.
The slash tore forward across the battlefield like a collapsing sky. The courtyard floor ripped open in a straight line, slabs of reinforced stone flipping and breaking like dry leaves. Shockwaves rolled outward in layers, each one heavier than the last, slamming into walls, towers, and barriers.
BOOOOOOM!
The sound was not just heard. It was felt in the bones.
Windows across the manor exploded outward in showers of glass. Guards were thrown off their feet as if struck by a giant hand. Trees at the edge of the estate bent hard, roots tearing from the soil as the blast wind screamed past.
The air itself looked shredded. Dust, gravel, and broken stone were pulled into the crimson current, spiraling inside it and grinding into powder. The sky above flickered as if heat lightning had burst inside the clouds, the red glow reflecting off the smoke.
A deep trench carved itself across the courtyard, wide and jagged, stretching far beyond the battlefield. The edges of the cut glowed faintly from friction, thin lines of molten rock dripping down before cooling.
Even those far behind Kane felt it.
