Chapter 369 370:I Am Warning You
BOOOOM!
A massive mushroom-shaped cloud shot into the sky. Dust, stone, and shattered air rushed outward in a violent storm. The shockwave rolled across the courtyard and hit the watching crowd like a wall.
People covered their faces.
“Damn!”
“Ahhh!”
“What the fuck is this?!”
“Fusshhh!”
The Imperial knights moved instantly. Several stepped forward and released their auras, forming layered barriers that absorbed the worst of the blast. Even so, the ground trembled under their feet.
Kane watched the explosion and shook his head with a faint smile.
“It’s over,” he said calmly. “That was a good move, but he fell short. Still, not bad.”
At that moment, Rathlos vanished from where he stood.
His figure blurred and reappeared in the air. Huge wings burst open behind his back, dark and wide. He beat them down hard.
WHOOSH! WHOOSH! WHOOSH!
Two powerful gusts smashed into the oncoming storm and tore it apart, scattering dust and debris to the sides.
Behind him, Ethan’s wives huddled close. Even with protection, the remaining shockwaves made their clothes flutter and their bodies sway.
Rina raised her hand and formed a barrier of light. Julia summoned a sword of energy and sliced apart flying debris.
Noel stared with wide eyes. “Just how terrifying would this be if the Imperial Knights didn’t contain it?”
“This was such a strong attack,” Sophia said, clutching her chest. “What about Ethan?!”
Her fingers tightened around the fabric of her dress. Her heart pounded hard. She wanted him safe. But she also did not want him to lose. In her eyes, he had always been the one standing in front, taking every impact.
She bit her lip and shouted, “ETHAAAN!”
Then someone screamed from the crowd.
“Look!”
Everyone looked up.
High above, the top of the mushroom cloud split apart.
SWOOSH! SWOOSH! SWOOSH!
A sharp line of light cut through the smoke. The cloud parted like fabric being sliced open. A blinding flash burst outward, pushing the darkness away.
As the smoke slowly thinned, the scene below became clear.
The ground where Ruel had been standing was gone. In its place was a deep, wide crater, its edges broken and jagged. Cracks spread outward like spiderwebs, and dust still drifted down in the air.
Above the ruined ground, a single figure floated in the sky.
It was none other than Ethan.
His long white hair, touched with a faint golden tint, drifted behind him even though the wind had already died down. His clothes moved lightly around his body, untouched by the chaos below. His face was calm, his eyes cold and steady, as if the storm that had just happened meant nothing to him.
Around him, five swords of light moved in a slow circle. They hummed softly, but the sound pressed on the ears and chest of everyone watching. Their glow was warm, yet the pressure they gave off made the air feel thick and heavy.
All around the courtyard, people stood frozen.
Some guards had their mouths open. Some nobles forgot to breathe. Even the Imperial knights, who had seen many battles, stared without blinking.
Ruel stood at the center of the crater. His armor was cracked, and dust covered his shoulders. He slowly lifted his head and looked up.
His eyes widened.
“How…?” he breathed.
High above, Ethan’s lips curved into a faint smirk.
“Sir Ruel,” he said, his voice clear and steady as it carried across the courtyard, “that was quite an attack. Enough to knock down many Legendary Knights.”
His tone was calm, but it held weight.
Ethan slowly raised two fingers.
“Since you showed your might, then it’s time for my right..”
“You had your chance to show off now let this meager man show off a bit.”
As soon as his voice fell the five swords around him began to tremble. Their light grew brighter, and the humming sound deepened.
“Take this.”
They shot upward at once, leaving streaks of light behind them. For a heartbeat, they disappeared into the sky. Then they turned sharply and came down.
“Holy Sword Array of Judgement.”
The swords fell like beams from heaven, straight toward Ruel.
Ruel roared and grabbed his sword with both hands. His muscles swelled, and veins stood out on his neck.
“This isn’t enough to beat me! No, you aren’t enough!”
BOOOOM!
The ground beneath his feet cracked further as he poured power into his blade. He swung it forward and released a massive crimson wave of energy toward Ethan. The air screamed as the attack tore through space.
But the five swords spun together midair.
They formed a rotating wheel of light.
SWOOSH!
The crimson wave met the spinning light and was sliced apart instantly, like paper cut by a blade.
BOOOOM!
The broken pieces of energy exploded to the sides. The spinning light crashed down around Ruel. In a blink, glowing blades formed a cage around him, locking the space tight.
Then the swords struck.
One after another.
BOOOM! BOOOM! BOOOM!
Light flashed again and again. The ground shook. Shockwaves rolled outward and slammed into the outer barriers. Dust and stones rose into the air.
“GYAAA!”
Ruel’s scream tore through the battlefield.
Inside the cage of light, his body shook under the impact. His knees bent, and his sword arm trembled. The proud Legendary Knight now stood trapped, bathed in falling light, his breath ragged and his strength draining.
All around, the courtyard was silent except for the fading echoes of the blasts and the low hum of the swords still circling above.
Ruel staggered, his boots scraping against broken stone. His knees bent, and his whole body shook as if the strength inside him was being pulled out piece by piece.
“What is this…? Kkh!”
He coughed hard, and blood mixed with dust at the corner of his mouth. He could feel his power leaking away like water from a cracked vessel. Still, his fingers tightened around the hilt of his sword. His knuckles turned white, and his arm trembled as he tried to gather strength for one last strike.
Then Ethan’s voice came down from above, cold and heavy.
“I am warning you.”
“If you dare to attack, be prepared to suffer the consequences of your action.”
“I am still new to this, and I might accidentally kill you.”
