Chapter 392:Father Son Talk
Ethan had told Herion to take some rest, but a storm was already brewing inside the mansion.
“What the helllll?” Sophia’s jaw dropped, and she swayed as if she might faint. Her hand went to her forehead, and her vision spun.
“Sister, control yourself,” Diana said quickly as she stepped forward and grabbed Sophia before she could fall.
Julia and Claira stood at the side. They looked at Lia, whose tail fluttered nervously, and then their eyes moved to the woman who was holding Herion’s arm and trembling.
She was a voluptuous beast woman with fox ears and several soft tails that twitched behind her. Her eyes were lowered, and her fingers clutched Herion’s sleeve as if afraid to be abandoned.
Julia took a breath and spoke slowly. “Seeing how you are obsessed with Lia’s tail, I somehow expected this.”
“Still…” Julia’s eyes shifted to the few other women standing behind. They were all nervous, their heads lowered, their clothes simple but clean, and their expressions unsure.
Herion saw his mothers’ faces and started to sweat. His back stiffened.
“Slander. All of this is slander. I am totally innocent and I did not even want to marr…” Before he could finish, the beast woman beside him lowered her ears, and her eyes filled with tears.
“Ahh… Do not cry. This…” Herion became flustered. His hands moved awkwardly in the air. He had faced danger and blood, but he did not know how to deal with crying women.
At that moment, Ethan came around the garden for a stroll. He froze when he saw the scene.
“What is going on here?” he asked, his voice low.
Sophia shook herself free from Diana and hurried to Ethan. “Ethan, just look at this son of yours. You sent him to work, but he came back with several women.”
“What!” Ethan’s eyes widened.
“Brat, you dare to grab beauties from slaves. Fuck, I am going to flatten you.” Ethan rolled up his sleeves, and his voice rose.
“Lie. Mother, do not fan the flames. I did not choose them. They chose me,” Herion said loudly and gently pushed the woman beside him. “Please say something.”
The beast woman stepped forward. Her curvy figure trembled, and she bowed deeply. “Father in law, Sir Herion is right. It is us who wanted to serve him.”
Herion felt a chill. The words “father in law” echoed in his head. He looked at Ethan in horror.
Ethan stood still for a moment, then pointed at himself. “Did she call me father in law?”
“Hmmm,” his wives nodded with innocent faces.
Ethan groaned softly. It was his age to call others father in law, not to be called that himself. The word felt strange in his ears, and he scratched his head.
“Ethan, what should we do?” Sophia asked. Her brows were tight. She did not like the idea of her son bringing home slave women.
Ethan held Sophia’s hand gently. “Do not harbor prejudice against them. As long as they are good and dedicated, that is enough.”
Sophia calmed down a little, but she still looked worried. She wondered if her son could handle so many women. Then she remembered whose son he was and fell silent.
Ethan waved at Herion. “Hey, punk, come here.”
“You will not beat me, right?” Herion asked carefully.
“Damn. You are so grown up and still behave like a kid,” Ethan said with a faint smile.
Herion pouted but walked over.
Ethan turned to the others. “Ladies, make them comfortable and calm them. They are already trembling.”
Everyone’s eyes turned to the beast women. Their ears drooped, and their tails curled around their legs. They looked scared but also hopeful.
“Cough. Also dress them well,” Ethan added, then walked away with Herion.
On the way, Ethan asked about the incident. Herion explained everything in detail, from the auction to the backers.
“What about the artifacts?” Ethan asked.
“We gathered them and sent them to Black Thorns. They are waiting for further orders,” Herion replied.
Ethan stopped, then reached out and ruffled Herion’s hair.
“Dad, stop embarrassing me. I am already an adult,” Herion complained, but a small satisfied look appeared in his eyes.
“You are always a brat for me,” Ethan said with a soft laugh.
After the playful moment faded, Ethan’s expression slowly turned serious. The light mood between them settled, and the air felt heavier.
He looked at Herion and asked in a calm voice, “Herion, what is your opinion about them?”
Herion paused. His steps slowed, and he looked at the ground for a moment. When he finally spoke, his lips trembled faintly.
“Honestly, father, I really do not have any opinion,” he said, scratching the back of his head.
Ethan kept walking beside him, listening quietly.
“Sure, all of them look quite good, like vixens,” Herion continued, his voice low. “For a casual hook up it might feel good, but I am not that bored or at that stage to hook up.”
Ethan almost nodded in approval, but then Herion added, “Also, I think I am too young to handle any responsibility.”
Ethan nearly slipped mid step. He stopped and stared at his son.
“What do you mean by too young? I became a father at nineteen, and I was already looking after the estate, and you are reaching close to twenty,” he said, his brows raised.
Herion’s lips twitched. He shook his head slowly. “The main thing is I enjoy my single life, and I am a bit afraid of taking responsibility for them.”
Ethan’s expression softened. He nodded and asked, “How are these women?”
“Good. Too good,” Herion replied without hesitation. “All throughout the journey they tried their best to serve me, and they took care of me well.”
He looked troubled. “That is making me uncomfortable because I do not even know if I can treat them well.”
Ethan asked a few more questions. He watched his son’s face carefully while he spoke. After hearing everything, he understood Herion’s mindset clearly.
Herion did not hate the women. He was not rejecting them out of disgust. He was simply afraid of married life and the weight that came with it.
Ethan did not scold him.
In this world, people marry early. Engagements were decided before coming of age, and once they grew up, they married and had children. It was normal here, but fear was still fear.
For a while, father and son walked side by side in silence. Only the sound of their steps on the stone path could be heard.
At last, Ethan stopped and turned around to face Herion.
“Herion, I will not force you or impose any decision because it is your life and your choice,” he said slowly.
Herion looked up, surprised by the calm tone.
“Remember, choices have consequences, so choose wisely,” Ethan continued. “But I can only advise you one thing.”
He held Herion’s shoulder firmly.
“For you, they might only be a single chapter in the book of life, but for them, you might be their entire book. So think carefully before deciding.”
