Chapter 406:I Will Give You A Choic
Outside the barren training chamber, the land shook faintly. It was subtle, yet heavy enough to be felt. The air rippled as if something massive had just awakened beneath the surface. The mana in the surroundings surged violently and then suddenly collapsed inward, like a powerful tide being swallowed by a deep and endless abyss. For a brief moment, everything outside felt unnaturally still, as if the world itself was holding its breath.
Inside the chamber, the raging flames slowly began to fade.
Cracks spread across the walls, glowing red like molten lines before gradually cooling into dark black scars. The ground had melted in several places, hardened lava clinging to the stone floor. The air was thick and heavy, filled with the sharp smell of scorched stone and burnt metal that stung the nose.
At the center of it all, Ethan sat quietly.
His breathing was slow and steady, each inhale and exhale controlled and deep. There was no sign of panic or strain on his face. The scales that had appeared earlier did not disappear. Instead, they slowly sank beneath his skin, leaving behind faint crimson patterns that moved like living veins.
They pulsed softly, as if they carried their own will. His muscles looked tighter and more refined, and his presence felt heavier than before, as though the space around him bent slightly under his weight.
A deep and calm light flashed through his eyes.
“Haaa…” he exhaled slowly, emitting faint dark crimson flames that drifted briefly before vanishing.
The chamber creaked under the pressure of his presence. Even without visible flames, the air around him felt hot and oppressive. He clenched his fist slowly, and a faint dragon-like aura coiled around his arm, twisting once before fading away like smoke.
“So this is it,” he muttered quietly. “A half step further.”
He lowered his head and checked his body carefully, moving his fingers and rolling his shoulders. His senses were sharper than ever. He could hear the distant wind far beyond the chamber walls. He could feel faint movements of mana deep underground, flowing like slow rivers beneath the earth.
The Infernal Dragonflame Body Forging Art was working perfectly.
His lips curved into a small, satisfied smile.
“System,” he said softly. “Status.”
The response echoed in his mind, calm and emotionless.
[Host has successfully upgraded body tempering art.]
[Infernal Dragonflame Body Forging Art: Initial Stage.]
[Martial Realm stability increased.]
[Draconic bloodline resonance improved.]
Ethan nodded as he took in the information, his expression steady as he acknowledged his progress. Everything had gone as expected. His foundation felt stronger, and his body felt more responsive than ever before.
He was about to consider what to do next when a sudden chill ran down his spine. Every hair on his body stood up, and goosebumps spread across his skin. His bloodline resonance shook violently, sending a sharp warning straight to his mind.
Danger.
Severe danger.
Before he could fully process it, a cry echoed through his consciousness.
“No RAYYYYYY!”
Ethan’s expression changed instantly. He waved his hand sharply, and the remaining flames in the chamber vanished completely. The oppressive heat faded, and the chamber fell into an eerie silence.
The moment he stepped out, a subtle yet overwhelming pressure spread across the land.
Several kilometers away, guards and servants froze mid-step. Some felt their hearts tighten for no clear reason, while others felt an uncontrollable urge to kneel. Even seasoned warriors felt their instincts scream at them to lower their heads.
Ethan did not stop. His eyes hardened as he stepped forward and roared.
“TELEPORT!”
SWooosh!
The bloodline in his body boiled violently and erupted. His figure blurred and vanished instantly, leaving behind a distorted ripple in the air.
….
From Ray’s side, a shadow sneakily emerged. The moment Ethan appeared, his mind went completely blank. The rapier’s tip was just a mere inch away from Florence, who had already jumped in front of Ray without hesitation.
There was no time.
Ethan did not even have time to pull them away.
All he could do was thrust his hand forward like a sword, instinctively pulling out his Draconic scales as his bloodline surged. The scales erupted beneath his skin, hardening instantly.
However, even the Draconic scales were a bit late.
CRUNG?
The rapier tip pierced straight through his palm with a dull, heavy sound. Blood splashed out violently, warm droplets spraying onto Ray’s and Florence’s faces as it fell to the ground.
Ethan’s brows twitched slightly, but he did not cry out.
If not for his current body forging art, the rapier would not only have pierced his hand but would have gone through and pierced Florence as well.
SWOOOOOH!
A heavy shockwave exploded outward due to the collision. Dust and debris were thrown into the air, and the ground cracked under the pressure. Rayon, who had believed everything would end in that strike, was forced to stumble backward, his eyes wide with disbelief as he stared at the sudden figure before him.
His breath hitched, and his voice trembled as he spoke.
“Wh… Who areee you?”
Rayon’s bewildered screams erupted across the battlefield, raw and sharp, tearing through the air as disbelief and terror finally caught up to him. For a brief moment, it felt as if the world itself slowed down, as if time hesitated. His vision blurred, and then what greeted him made his blood run cold.
From the shadows, two cold eyes emerged.
They were not blazing with rage or madness. They were calm, empty, and deep, darkened like black holes that seemed to swallow all light. Just looking into them made Rayon’s chest tighten, as if something unseen was dragging his soul toward an endless abyss. His grip on the rapier trembled, and a chill crawled up his spine.
Then, in the very next moment, everything shattered.
BOOOOOOOOOOOOOM!
An immense aura burst outward like a raging storm unleashed from a sealed prison. The ground beneath them exploded, stone and dirt blasting into the air as the world shook violently. The pressure slammed down from all directions, crushing and overwhelming. Rayon barely had time to react as he pulled his rapier up in a desperate attempt to defend himself.
It was already too late.
A kick slammed straight into his chest.
“Kurrrrghhh!”
The sound tore from his throat as his chest caved inward under the terrifying force. His ribs screamed, his breath was ripped away, and his vision went white. The impact alone blurred his figure, and in the next instant, he was sent flying like a broken doll.
BOOOM!
A violent air burst erupted as his body shot across the land. He tore through trees like paper, trunks shattering into dust as he crashed through them one after another. The ground cracked and split beneath him as he rolled and bounced uncontrollably for several kilometers, leaving a trail of destruction behind.
Finally, with a sharp screech of metal, he forced his rapier into the ground to stop himself.
Cough!
Blood splattered from his lips, spraying onto the dirt as his body shook violently. His arms trembled, barely able to hold him up. His chest burned with every breath, and pain flooded his senses as he coughed again, more blood spilling out.
Shaking, he slowly lifted his head.
What he saw made his heart sink.
A figure with white hair stepped forward calmly through the dust and shattered land. His bluish eyes were cold and clear, carrying a pressure that crushed everything around him. With each step he took, the ground beneath his feet cracked softly, unable to bear his presence. The air itself felt heavy, dense, and suffocating.
The man stopped and locked his gaze onto Rayon.
Rayon felt like prey.
“I will give you a choice…”
The voice was calm, steady, and terrifyingly controlled.
“Kill yourself and you can save the pride of Legendary Realm or be prepared to be trampled under me brutally.”
The aura around him surged, pressing down like a mountain.
“Either way, today you are finished.”
