Chapter 436:The Might Of Arcane Canon
At her command, demon mages launched continuous assaults. Waves of elemental magic followed one after another, striking the defensive array repeatedly in an attempt to crack the human “turtle shell” and clear a path for the advancing army.
Watching the barrier endure the bombardment, Kiea’s lips slowly curled upward.
“It seems we need to deploy the Belpherger demon.”
Herios hesitated slightly.
“But sister, the Belpheger is still injured and needs time to heal its wounds.”
Kiea glanced toward the rear ranks without concern.
“It’s okay. I am sure it can pull it off.”
Far behind the demon formation, enormous shapes began to stir.
…
On the other side of Frostvele City, alarms rang endlessly.
BANG! BANG! BANG!
Loud impacts echoed across the defensive walls as meteors struck repeatedly against the barrier. The magic runes carved throughout the territory flared brightly, linking together and forming a massive defensive encirclement.
From Blank’s command perspective, the situation escalated rapidly.
After the initial bombardment began, messengers rushed through corridors while soldiers ran toward defensive stations. Arcane cannons rotated into position, and archers lined the walls under strict command.
Miranda and several others rushed forward toward the main defense platform.
“Mother Julia! What is going on?” Miranda shouted while catching her breath.
“Did the demon army already attack?”
At the front of the wall stood Julia.
She wore full combat armor, silver plates layered over dark fur lining suited for the freezing climate. Her long hair moved gently in the violent wind while her sharp eyes remained fixed on the distant battlefield.
She shook her head calmly.
“They are still a few kilometers behind,” Julia replied. “They are attacking with long-range spells.”
Miranda stepped beside her and looked ahead.
The distant sky burned red from continuous explosions. Meteors continued falling while the barrier shimmered under relentless pressure.
Then her expression suddenly changed.
Her eyes widened.
“What the hell is that thing?” Miranda gasped in shock.
Her voice carried clear fear.
Others followed her gaze.
At that exact moment, the battlefield darkened.
A massive shadow slowly rose beyond the demon ranks and stretched across the plains. The shadow expanded rapidly until it engulfed the outer walls of Frostvele itself.
Even the falling snow seemed to pause.
Soldiers on the wall froze instinctively.
Something enormous was approaching.
The ground trembled faintly with each movement.
Julia’s eyes narrowed as her grip tightened on her weapon.
Soon, the dense forest ahead began to shake violently.Trees snapped one after another as something massive pushed its way forward. Snow-covered trunks were crushed like fragile sticks, and the ground trembled under unbearable pressure.
Then it appeared.
A gigantic behemoth slowly emerged from the forest.
The creature resembled a monstrous mole, yet its size was beyond imagination. Its body alone was as large as a small mountain, covered in thick dark flesh layered with rough stone-like skin that seemed hardened through countless battles. Mud and frozen blood clung to its surface while deep scars stretched across its enormous back, proving it had survived many brutal wars.
Its forelimbs were horrifying.
Two massive arms extended forward, each stretching several meters long. The claws at the end were curved like siege weapons, easily capable of tearing down fortress walls. Every movement of those arms gouged deep trenches into the frozen earth.
Each step it took caused the ground to rumble heavily.
BOOM.
BOOM.
The tremors spread across Frostvele’s outer walls, making soldiers struggle to maintain balance. Snow fell from watchtowers while loose stones rolled down the defensive structures.
Then the creature lifted its massive head.
Its mouth slowly opened.
What followed made everyone’s heart freeze.
Its enormous lips stretched unnaturally wide, revealing layers of rotating flesh and spiral-like teeth inside. A terrifying suction force erupted instantly, pulling air, snow, debris, and even shattered stones toward its mouth.
The wind direction changed violently.
Soldiers near the outer defenses felt their bodies being dragged forward. Loose weapons and broken fragments lifted from the ground and flew toward the monster.
The suction roared like a hurricane.
Entire sections of earth were torn upward as if the land itself was being swallowed.
The defensive formation shook violently under the pressure.
Phillips rushed onto the scene, his cloak fluttering wildly as he struggled against the pulling force.
“It’s the Belpheger!” he shouted loudly. “Though its aura is weakened due to injury, I am sure it’s that Belpheger!”
Julia’s expression hardened immediately.
She nodded once and raised her voice without hesitation.
“Mother, deploy the cannon!”
The moment those words fell, several young commanders behind her nearly shouted in excitement.
Their eyes lit up instantly.
Hell yeah!
Time to deploy the big guns.
SWOOSH!
Hidden panels along the fortress wall opened as the Arcane Burst Cannon slowly rose into position. Massive rune rings rotated around its barrel while mana conduits connected one after another.
After Mareti completed its installation earlier, operational authority had been handed to Emma.
Emma stepped forward calmly.
Years had passed since she last stood on a battlefield, yet her presence carried quiet confidence. She had spent years in seclusion, strengthening herself, and only recently chose to follow her daughter and husband here while leaving territory management to their sons.
Her eyes were steady.
“Preparing!” she shouted firmly.
Her hands moved across the control runes with practiced precision.
The Arcane Burst Cannon began to hum deeply.
Light gathered rapidly along its surface as glowing runes awakened one by one. The entire weapon vibrated while immense mana condensed toward the cannon’s tip.
The surrounding air distorted.
Wind spiraled outward as energy compressed into a single point. Soldiers nearby instinctively stepped back while the brightness illuminated the battlefield like daylight.
Even the Belpheger paused slightly under the rising pressure.
The mana continued to gather.
Condense.
Compress.
The world itself seemed to hold its breath.
Then—
A deafening shriek erupted from the cannon.
BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM!
A massive beam of condensed arcane energy shot forward instantly. The blast tore through the air, leaving a burning trail behind while shockwaves exploded outward.
The sound alone rattled the battlefield and nearly burst eardrums.
The ground cracked beneath the fortress walls, and snow was blown away in every direction as the beam slammed directly toward the advancing Belpheger.
The entire battlefield lit up in blinding brilliance.
