Chapter 437:Full Scale Onslaught
A deep humming sound erupted across the battlefield, and in the very next moment a blazing trail of light shot forward from the fortress walls.
The piercing beam moved like a divine punishment descending from the heavens. It tore through the freezing air and rushed straight toward the Belpheger demon. The massive creature opened its enormous mouth again, trying to devour the incoming attack through its terrifying suction force.
Alas, that became its greatest mistake.
The beam entered directly into its open mouth.
For a brief second, everything went silent.
Then—
BOOOOOOOOOOOOM!
A catastrophic explosion erupted from inside the monster’s body. The blast shook heaven and earth as light burst outward violently. A gigantic mushroom-shaped cloud rose into the sky while shockwaves spread in every direction.
The fortress walls trembled heavily.
Soldiers lost their footing as the impact slammed into the defensive barriers. Some covered their ears while others shouted instinctively.
“Damnnnn!”
“That’s some nice shit!”
“Hell yeah!”
Cheers erupted uncontrollably across the walls. Even Miranda could not contain herself and began jumping excitedly while laughing loudly.
Everyone’s eyes sparkled with disbelief and excitement.
Just where the hell did their father bring something like this from?
Slowly, the smoke began to disperse.
What appeared next silenced many of them.
The Belpheger was still standing.
However, its upper body had been completely blasted apart. Half of its massive torso was missing, exposing shattered bones and broken ribs glowing red from intense heat. Burnt flesh hung loosely while thick smoke continued rising from the destroyed cavity.
Dark blood poured down like a waterfall, melting snow wherever it touched. One of its gigantic arms twitched weakly before collapsing against the ground, creating another tremor.
The creature released a distorted roar filled with pain before its massive body finally leaned sideways and crashed onto the earth.
The ground shook once more.
Meanwhile, far across the battlefield, Herios and Kiea watched the scene with solemn expressions.
“What the hell was that?” Herios muttered, disbelief evident in his voice.
The reason they chose this route was simple. Frontier had only recently been conquered, and Arcadia was believed to lack large-scale destructive weapons capable of threatening high-ranking demons.
Yet reality stood before them.
Kiea slowly closed her eyes and took a deep breath before speaking calmly.
“Herios… you were right. We should have probed first. I planned to jump in and finish things quickly, but now…”
She opened her eyes again, now filled with caution.
“Let’s start with smaller forces and probe them. If they can fire a few more shots like that, we will retreat and request reinforcement.”
Herios nodded immediately.
He stepped forward and waved his hand.
A demon soldier beside him lifted a massive horn and blew the signal trumpet.
The deep war call echoed across the mountains.
SWIISH!
Moments later, a massive demon army surged forward from the forest.
Nearly twenty thousand demons charged toward Frostvele’s walls like a dark tidal wave. Their armor made from beast skins rattled loudly while savage roars filled the air.
But as they approached—
BOOOOM! BOOM!
Beams of destruction fired from the fortress walls.
Automatic turrets installed by Blank forces rotated rapidly. Magical defense arrays locked onto targets and unleashed continuous blasts of energy.
Explosions erupted everywhere.
Demons were blown apart mid-charge. Bodies shattered under concentrated mana fire while limbs flew across the snow-covered battlefield. Entire groups vanished under successive detonations.
The ground turned black with scorched marks.
Yet fear never appeared among the demon ranks.
Like savage beasts driven only by instinct, they continued advancing without hesitation. Even as comrades exploded beside them, the remaining demons stepped over burning corpses and pushed forward.
Numbers.
They possessed overwhelming numbers.
Sacrifice meant nothing to them.
In the eyes of higher demons, the lives of lesser demons were barely worth consideration. Waves continued charging forward endlessly despite heavy losses.
The siege assault intensified.
However, cracks slowly began to appear in Frostvele’s defense.
The turrets fired continuously until their mana reserves began draining rapidly. Cooling runes glowed red while some cannons slowed down due to overload.
Production time had been too short.
Mareti and the others simply had not possessed enough time to manufacture weapons in quantities large enough to face such overwhelming numbers.
Moreover, the expenditure was enormous.
Each blast consumed valuable mana crystals, and reserves were depleting faster than expected.
Gradually, gaps began forming between defensive firing intervals.
And the demon army noticed.
Step by step, through blood and destruction, the surviving demons pushed closer toward the fortress walls.
The battlefield outside Frostvele no longer resembled a snow-covered land.
It had turned into a burning graveyard.
Black smoke rolled heavily across the sky while shattered demon bodies piled one over another. Deep craters covered the plains where Arcane cannons and defensive turrets had struck again and again. The once pure white snow had completely vanished, replaced by mud mixed with blood, ash, and broken armor.
Yet despite such devastating losses, the demon army continued advancing without hesitation.
From the fortress walls, soldiers could now clearly see their faces.
Wild.
Fearless.
Mad.
“They are still coming!” a captain shouted while gripping the stone edge of the wall so tightly that his knuckles turned pale.
Another thunderous explosion erupted below as a turret fired again, blasting apart an entire charging squad. Demon bodies tore into pieces and limbs scattered through the air, yet the empty gap was instantly filled by more demons rushing forward like an endless tide.
Inside the command platform, Miranda clenched her fists while watching the battlefield through the projection crystal.
“This isn’t slowing them enough,” she said through gritted teeth.
Nera stood beside her, issuing commands rapidly without even lifting her eyes from the tactical display.
“Rotate second-line cannons!”
“Archers prepare enchanted volley!”
“Do not let them reach the outer barrier!”
Messengers ran back and forth as alarm bells echoed across the fortress walls. Soldiers repositioned while engineers desperately reinforced rune nodes sustaining the defensive formation.
