Chapter 438:Full Scale Onslaught 2
Outside, demon mages advanced behind the frontline troops. Dark energy gathered above their staffs as deep chants filled the air.
Moments later—
BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!
Massive spells slammed violently against Frostvele’s defensive barrier.
The blue protective curtain trembled intensely. Ripples spread across its surface like waves struck by falling mountains.
Julia stood atop the wall wearing full armor, her heavy fur cloak whipping violently under the shockwaves. Her sharp eyes calmly scanned the battlefield despite the chaos unfolding below.
“They are testing durability now,” she muttered
Another heavy impact struck the barrier, forcing nearby soldiers to stagger backward. Thin cracks of light briefly appeared across the shield before stabilizing again.
Behind her, Herion finally lost patience.
“How many of them are there?” he shouted.
“Did they bring their entire damn race here?”
Miranda immediately shot him a glare.
“Complain less and fight more!”
Herion clicked his tongue but still tightened his grip on his weapon.
Below the walls, siege ladders made from hardened bone were suddenly thrown forward.
Larger demons rushed ahead carrying shields crafted from massive beast carcasses, protecting advancing troops from turret fire.
“They’re closing distance!” a guard yelled urgently.
Julia raised her hand without hesitation.
“Release secondary defense!”
At her command, hidden rune circles buried beneath the battlefield activated instantly.
SWOOOOOM!
Lines of light erupted beneath the charging demons.
Explosive mana traps detonated one after another. The earth burst open violently, swallowing dozens of demons while pillars of flame and frozen spikes shot upward, tearing through tightly packed formations.
For a brief moment, the advance slowed.
Cheers erupted from the fortress walls.
But Julia’s expression remained unchanged.
Because beyond the drifting smoke—
Something moved.
A massive shadow advanced slowly through the ruined battlefield.
THOOM.
THOOM.
THOOM.
Each heavy step crushed corpses beneath it.
Two King Realm demons stepped forward, their overwhelming aura spreading like an invisible storm toward the fortress.
Soldiers on the walls suddenly felt breathing become difficult.
Miranda’s expression stiffened.
“They finally moved…”
Julia narrowed her eyes.
“So they decided to stop playing.”
One demon looked toward Frostvele’s walls and laughed loudly.
“Impressive defenses, humans!” his voice echoed across the battlefield. “But let us see how long your toys last!”
He raised his hand calmly.
Instantly, demon mages behind him shifted formation. A darker and far more dangerous magic circle began forming in the sky.
The temperature dropped sharply.
Even the defensive barrier flickered under the pressure.
Inside the fortress, warning crystals flashed red repeatedly.
Nera turned toward Julia urgently.
“Mother… if Legendary Realm demons join directly, the outer defense will not hold long.”
Julia remained silent for several seconds.
Then she spoke calmly.
“Prepare close combat units.”
Herion froze.
“…You mean?”
Julia’s gaze hardened as she looked toward the advancing demon generals.
“Yes.”
Her hand slowly rested on the hilt of her sword.
“I will go down.”
Phillips stepped forward immediately from behind her and nodded firmly.
“I will accompany you.”
Before orders could finalize, several younger voices rose at once.
“Mother, we want to go too!”
“Yes! I want to fight alongside you!”
The children stepped forward eagerly, eyes burning with excitement and determination.
Phillips’ expression darkened instantly.
“No. Absolutely not,” he reprimanded sharply.
“What if a Legendary Realm demon strikes? This is not training anymore.”
Arguments broke out immediately.
The younger generation refused to step back while senior commanders tried to restrain them. The tension grew louder until all eyes finally turned toward Julia.
She paused.
For a brief moment, Ethan’s words echoed in her mind.
If the children want to fight, let them fight near the wall. Experience matters.
Julia exhaled slowly and turned toward Phillips.
“Father… we should let them experience real battle,” she said calmly. “They will remain near the walls.”
She then glanced toward the massive cannon platform behind them.
“Mother is guarding the cannon. As long as an Emperor Realm or higher enemy moves, she will fire immediately.”
Phillips hesitated but finally nodded.
Julia unsheathed her sword.
The sharp metallic sound rang clearly across the wall.
She raised it forward.
“Guards… March down!”
KUANHHH!
War horns thundered.
Massive gates beneath Frostvele slowly began opening as elite soldiers formed ranks behind Julia.
Snow and ash swirled together as humanity stepped forward to meet the advancing demon army head-on.
…
The massive gates of Frostvele opened slowly with a deep grinding sound that echoed across the battlefield.
Cold wind rushed inward, carrying the smell of blood, smoke, and burning flesh. Snow mixed with ash drifted through the air as if even nature itself hesitated to witness what was about to unfold.
Outside the walls, thousands of demons roared violently the moment they saw the gates opening.
They had expected resistance. They had not expected the humans to march out willingly.
Julia stepped forward first.
Her armored boots pressed into the blood-soaked ground while her fur cloak fluttered behind her in the freezing wind. The sword in her hand released a faint silver glow, and an invisible pressure slowly spread outward from her body.
Behind her marched Frostvele’s elite guards in tight formation. Shields locked together while spear units advanced in disciplined rows. Knights followed closely behind, mana circulating visibly around their armor like flowing mist.
Phillips walked beside Julia, his heavy blade resting over his shoulder. Though age had touched his hair, the aura surrounding him remained steady and imposing.
From the walls above, Miranda watched anxiously while gripping the stone railing.
“They are really going out…” she whispered.
Nera placed one hand over the command crystal and kept her eyes fixed on the battlefield below.
“We must support them perfectly,” she replied calmly. “If formation breaks even once, casualties will rise instantly.”
Below, the battlefield trembled as demon forces surged forward.
“CHARGE!”
A horn blasted from the demon side, deep and savage.
Like unleashed beasts, thousands of demons rushed ahead, weapons raised while their roars shook the land itself.
Julia lifted her sword calmly.
“Hold formation.”
The human line advanced steadily instead of rushing blindly.
One hundred meters.
Fifty meters.
Twenty—
“Now!”
CRASH!
The two forces collided violently.
