Chapter 443:The Hidden Commander
Ethan froze for a split second with genuine confusion flashing across his face.
“Fuckkk!”
“This is why I waste time trying to understand hidden tricks, and those annoying guys still complain.”
Below, Kiea and Herios nearly collapsed as their knees weakened from fear.
“The hidden Commander of the Demon Army has made a move!”
The thought crossed Ethan’s mind instantly. This was no ordinary defensive scroll.
But before he could analyze further, his senses screamed danger.
“Crimson Night Slash!”
SWOOSH!
The world around Ethan suddenly darkened. Light seemed to vanish as a chilling crimson intent filled the air.
From within that darkness, an extremely agile figure appeared silently behind him.
The attacker held two curved blades wrapped in blood-like energy that pulsed like living flesh. The energy gathered together and formed something resembling a crimson moon.
Without hesitation, the figure slashed toward Ethan’s neck. The attack carried enough power to split a mountain in half.
The timing was flawless.
There was no warning, no killing intent beforehand, and no presence Ethan could detect earlier.
He had not even sensed the enemy approaching.
“Shield!”
Ethan reacted instantly.
A protective barrier flared around his body, glowing brightly as layers of mana condensed before him.
CRACK!
The curved blade struck the shield and produced a sharp ringing sound. The barrier shattered almost immediately under the terrifying cutting force.
But that single moment was enough.
Ethan twisted his body backward and retreated rapidly.
SWISH!
The blade descended and cut through where his body had stood.
The attack sliced apart only a fading afterimage.
Ethan reappeared several meters away, boots sliding across the frozen ground as his eyes narrowed sharply.Someone far more dangerous had entered the battlefield.
SWOOSH!
As Ethan reappeared several meters away, his boots slid across the shattered ground before he finally stopped. He paused suddenly when he felt something warm trickling down his throat.
He raised his hand and touched his neck.
Blood.
A thin cut had appeared across his skin.
His breathing grew slightly uneven for a moment.
That was quite close.
If his reaction had been even a fraction slower, that strike might have taken his head clean off.
Ethan slowly lifted his gaze and looked around the battlefield. Smoke drifted through the air while broken weapons and frozen blood covered the ground. However, no enemy could be seen.
The attacker had vanished again.
His eyes narrowed.
The opponent clearly possessed an extremely superior hiding technique. Even with Ethan’s heightened perception, he could not lock onto her presence.
Suddenly—
SWOOSH!
A sharp killing intent flashed behind him.
Ethan twisted his body instantly and dodged.
SWOOSH! SWISH!
Another strike followed immediately from a different angle. Twin blades sliced through the air repeatedly, each attack silent yet deadly.
For the next few moments, Ethan focused entirely on defense. He stepped, turned, and blocked while narrowly avoiding strike after strike. Each attack targeted vital points with terrifying precision.
The battlefield around him cracked under the pressure of their movements.
After several exchanges, Ethan’s eyes gradually calmed.
He had begun to understand.
After fighting for this long, he had more or less grasped the combat style and strength of this hidden figure.
Despite his numerous boosts and overwhelming physical ability, this opponent had managed to fight him evenly for a noticeable period.
That alone proved one thing.
This figure was far from ordinary.
Based on his observation, the attacker was most likely a famous Legendary Realm expert specializing in stealth assassination.
“This figure’s identity is definitely not simple,” Ethan thought quietly.
Another attack came.
This time, instead of dodging, Ethan deliberately slowed his movement.
The hidden figure seized the chance.
Twin daggers pierced forward toward his chest.
At the last instant—
Ethan moved.
His hand shot forward and grabbed the incoming blades directly.
The daggers pierced into his palm.
Blood burst outward instantly, staining both weapons crimson.
The assassin froze in shock.
Before she could react, Ethan tightened his grip and pulled forward violently.
BOOM!
He slammed his forehead straight into hers.
A powerful shockwave exploded outward as the invisible figure was forced into visibility.
Before him appeared a black-skinned demoness assassin. Her sharp crimson eyes widened in disbelief while dark markings flickered across her face.
“You!”
She clearly had not expected a human to catch her attack barehanded.
Without hesitation, she abandoned the daggers and retreated rapidly.
“Where are you running?” Ethan said coldly.
He casually pulled the embedded dagger from his palm and threw it aside.
To the demoness’ horror, the torn flesh of his hand regenerated instantly. Muscles reformed and skin closed as if nothing had happened.
Her figure dispersed again into shadows.
Hidden once more, she circled silently while taking a deep breath.
Yet something felt wrong.
For some reason, she felt as though the human was watching her.
“No… this isn’t possible,” she thought nervously. “The power of stealth is a divine blessing from the God of Darkness. It cannot be seen through easily.”
Suppressing her unease, she prepared her final attack.
This time she gathered divine shadow energy into her blades. Even if she suffered injury, she intended to kill Ethan in one decisive strike.
She moved silently toward his back.
Closer.
Closer.
Then suddenly—
Cold fear crawled up her spine.
“GOT YOU!”
The shout shattered her concentration.
Ethan turned abruptly and swung his sword.
Holy power erupted from the blade like a rising sun.
CLANG!!!
The collision exploded with thunderous force. Light and darkness clashed violently, creating shockwaves that blasted everything nearby apart. Snow, corpses, and shattered stone were thrown high into the air.
The demoness was sent flying like a broken arrow.
Her body crashed through the battlefield and carved a deep trench across the land before finally stopping miles away.
She struggled to rise—
BOOM! BOOM! BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!
Five massive swords made of pure light descended from the sky.
Each blade slammed into the ground around her, forming a perfect circle. The impact shattered the earth and raised towering pillars of radiant energy that locked space itself.
The glowing swords hummed loudly, creating chains of light that bound the surrounding area.
Before she could escape, Ethan appeared in front of her.
His fingers twisted rapidly, forming sealing signs.
“SEAL!”
A blinding flash erupted instantly.
Radiant light surged upward like a prison descending from heaven, completely engulfing the demoness assassin and locking her movements in place.
