Chapter 445:Damn!He is Here
Miranda, Nera, and Leo stood frozen on the wall as the explosion slowly faded and the smoke began to clear.
They swallowed at the same time.
“Father… He is too strong and too cool,” Miranda muttered with a shocked expression, as her fingers gripped the stone railing tightly.
“Yes,” Leo nodded, his eyes shining with ambition. His fists clenched unconsciously. He wanted to be strong like that one day. He wanted to stand alone against enemies and crush them without fear.
Nera did not speak, but her gaze remained fixed on the figure standing in the center of the destroyed battlefield. Respect and awe flickered across her calm face.
“It seems that Lord Ethan has defeated the commander of the demon army.”
“Great! We have won this great battle!”
“Long live Lord Ethan!”
The sudden fall of the demon commander instantly attracted everyone’s attention.
When the soldiers of Frostvele understood what had just happened, cheers erupted across the walls and streets. Some raised their weapons high into the air. Others laughed loudly in relief. The heavy pressure that had been hanging over the city finally lifted.
On the other side, panic spread among the demon ranks.
“Oh no! The commander has been captured by humans!”
“Retreat! Retreat the entire army!”
“If we don’t run now, our entire army will be wiped out!”
Fear replaced arrogance. Their morale collapsed instantly. Many demons turned pale. Those who reacted quickly dropped everything and fled toward the forest without looking back.
Seeing this, the human soldiers roared.
“Kill all these damn invaders!”
“Attack with the entire army! Kill all these demons!”
The gates of Frostvele opened again. Knights and soldiers rushed forward with renewed courage. Arrows rained down from the walls. Mages launched spells at fleeing enemies. Swords flashed as demons were cut down one after another while trying to escape.
The tide of battle had completely reversed.
In the middle of the ruined ground, Ethan was about to sigh in relief when he noticed something.
The demon girl was still breathing.
Her body was covered in burns and blood. Her aura was almost extinguished, yet she was barely clinging to life.
Ethan raised his sword calmly, preparing to finish it.Just then, a familiar voice echoed from afar.
“Sir Ethan, stop!”
He paused and looked up.
A streak of light shot across the sky, leaving a bright trail behind it.
“Lady Amber?” he asked in confusion.
‘She should have gone to Blanks right?’
The streak descended and landed lightly before him. Amber stood there, slightly out of breath.
“Father said you needed my help, so I came urgently. But it seems…”
She gave a bitter smile and looked around at the devastated battlefield. Her father had told her Frostvele was in danger and needed assistance. He had said Ethan required her help immediately. That was why she had rushed here without hesitation.
It seemed she had worried for nothing.
Still, she shook her head and spoke firmly.
“Don’t kill her. We can capture her and make her spill secrets.”
Ethan lowered his sword slightly and nodded.
Before replying, he suddenly narrowed his eyes and looked far into the distance.
A faint aura was fleeing rapidly.
“Hmmm… You really think you can escape from me?”
His tone turned cold.
“Did you take me as some fodder?”
“Imprison her!”Ethan ordered.
The next moment, Ethan’s figure shot into the sky with deafening force, leaving behind a violent gust of wind that stunned everyone present.
Amber blinked in surprise as she watched him disappear into the horizon.
…
Cold wind howled across the mountain ridges as two figures rushed desperately through the snow covered terrain.
Herios and Kiea ran without looking back.
Their heavy footsteps crushed frozen rocks while loose snow slid down the steep slopes behind them. Blood trailed faintly along their path, marking their retreat through the jagged mountains bordering Frostvele.
Both of them were breathing heavily.
For the first time since entering human territory, fear had completely replaced confidence.
“How?” Kiea shouted while leaping across a broken cliff edge. Her voice trembled with disbelief. “How did she get defeated?”
Her lion-like armor was cracked in several places, and dark blood seeped from the gaps.
“Isn’t she a trained assassin from the Church of Darkness?” she asked loudly, almost screaming.
Herios gritted his teeth as he followed closely behind, his massive axe dragging briefly against stone before he lifted it again.
“Sister, forget about that and escape!” he growled harshly.
Snow burst beneath his steps as he forced his exhausted body forward.
“That guy isn’t human,” Herios continued, his voice filled with lingering shock. “He is more monstrous than us. Let’s go!”
Neither of them slowed down.
The mountains stretched endlessly ahead, filled with narrow passes and deep valleys. If they could cross this range, demon reinforcements waited beyond.
Hope flickered faintly.
Then..
The wind suddenly stopped.
Both demons froze instinctively.
A strange silence descended over the mountain path. Even the drifting snow seemed to hang still in the air.
Kiea’s pupils shrank.
“…Brother.”
Herios slowly raised his head.
Ahead of them, at the narrow mountain pass, a lone figure stood calmly on a protruding rock.
White hair moved gently in the cold air.
Blue eyes reflected faint light beneath dark clouds. He stood with one hand resting casually on his sword as if he had been waiting there for a long time.
Behind him, the sky itself seemed heavier.
“How…” Herios whispered hoarsely.
They had been running at full speed.
Yet he arrived before them.
Ethan tilted his head slightly.
“You two run quite fast,” he said calmly. “I almost thought you might escape.”
That calmness frightened them more.
Kiea’s fear instantly turned into rage.
“DON’T LOOK DOWN ON US!”
Dark energy erupted around her body as she charged forward, sword blazing with violent demonic power.
Herios roared beside her.
They attacked together.
The mountain shook as both legendary demons unleashed everything they had left.
Kiea’s blade split into dozens of dark slashes that tore through the air like a storm. Herios swung his axe downward with crushing force capable of splitting cliffs apart.
The attacks converged on Ethan.
Ethan raised his hand slowly.
The air changed.
Snow beneath their feet liquefied instantly and rose into the sky as a spinning wall of water. At the same time, jagged stone pillars erupted upward from the mountain path, forming a barrier in front of him.
BOOOOM!
Their attacks smashed into the water and stone barrier.
