Chapter 493:Empty It
Ethan stepped in first.
The sight inside made even Rathlos pause slightly. The storeroom was enormous.
Rows upon rows of shelves stretched across the hall, filled with treasures. Crystals, weapons, scrolls, rare metals, and sealed artifacts were arranged neatly, each one radiating its own unique aura.
Some items glowed faintly with magical energy, while others were sealed inside transparent cases that shimmered with protective barriers.
Large chests filled with gold coins were stacked in one corner, and piles of gemstones reflected light in dazzling colors.
Ethan’s lips curved slightly.
“Plunder,” he said calmly.
The next moment,Rathlos and Marverick moved instantly, their figures turning into blurs as they spread across the hall.
Ethan followed behind, his movements steady but precise.
Weapons were taken first.
High-grade enchanted swords like Stormbreaker Edge, Void Fang Blade, and Crimson Eclipse Saber were swept away along with spears and armor sets that carried strong magical enhancements.
Then came the rare materials.
Mithril ingots.
Refined adamantite.
Fire essence iron.
Elemental crystals that pulsed with pure energy.
Ethan’s eyes briefly paused on a shelf filled with scrolls.
He picked several high-level magic technique scrolls such as Heaven Splitter Sword Art, Void Collapse Spell, Nine Thunder Execution Method, and Radiant Light Dominion Technique.
Each one was extremely valuable.
Among the treasures, he also found several Saint-grade life-saving amulets. They glowed softly with protective energy, and without hesitation, he collected them all.
“These are useful,” he murmured quietly.
Nearby, a large shield caught his attention.
A draconic shield of Saint grade. Its surface carried faint dragon scales, and a deep aura of protection flowed from it.
Ethan took it immediately.
There were also several sealed magic scrolls that could release powerful spells upon tearing. These were one-time use but extremely destructive.
He took those as well.
Ethan moved quickly but carefully, only selecting items that held real value. He did not waste time on ordinary goods or things that could be easily replaced.
Rings, amulets, and ancient relics that carried strong magical signatures were taken without hesitation.
Marverick opened deeper restricted sections using his access, revealing hidden compartments filled with even more valuable items.
Within minutes, a large portion of the most valuable treasures had been emptied.
The once organized storeroom now looked partially stripped, with several sections left completely bare.
“Enough,” Ethan said finally.
He had taken the most valuable things.
They did not linger.
The group quickly moved out of the chamber, and the massive door closed behind them once again, hiding the empty sections within.
Without wasting another second, they left the estate quietly and disappeared into the night.
By the time anyone realized what had happened—
They were already gone.
The group moved swiftly through the shadows of the estate, their figures blending into the darkness as they made their way out. The night air felt cold and still, and only the faint sound of their footsteps disturbed the silence. Pentos walked alongside them until they reached the outer boundary of the estate.
Ethan stopped and turned to look at him.
“Your job is to now report everything happening here,” he said calmly, his eyes steady.
Pentos lowered his head immediately.
“Yes, my Lord. The slave shall obey.”
“Good,” Ethan replied with a slight nod.
Without another word, Ethan, Rathlos, and Marverick moved.
Swoosh!
The silence of the Ambrose estate did not last long.
It began with a single guard opening the storeroom for routine inspection.
A shout.
“What… what is this?!”
Within seconds, more guards rushed in. Their footsteps echoed loudly as they stopped at the entrance, their eyes widening in disbelief.
The once grand and perfectly arranged treasury now looked like it had been torn apart.
Shelves stood half empty.
Several sections were completely stripped clean.
Weapon racks were missing their finest pieces, and the cases that once held rare artifacts now stood open and hollow.
Even the chests of gold had been disturbed.
“Sound the alarm!” one of the guards shouted.
A loud bell rang across the estate.
CLANG! CLANG! CLANG!
The peaceful night shattered instantly.
Servants froze.
Soldiers rushed out from every corner.
Within moments, the entire estate fell into chaos.
“How is this possible?!”
“This is the inner treasury!”
“Who the hell did this?!”
Voices overlapped as panic spread.
Meanwhile, inside the main hall, the elder of the Ambrose family received the report.
For a moment, he simply stood there.
CRASH!
The table beside him shattered under his palm.
“Useless!” he roared.
His eyes burned with fury.
“How could someone walk into our treasury and leave like this?!”
Pentos was dragged forward by two guards.
He looked disheveled, but his expression remained stiff.
“What happened?” the elder demanded.
Pentos lowered his head.
“…I don’t know.”
The elder’s gaze turned even colder.
“You don’t know?”
His aura flared slightly, and the pressure in the room became suffocating.
“Seal the estate!” he shouted.
“No one leaves!”
“Search every corner!”
Guards immediately rushed out to carry out the orders.
The entire Ambrose estate turned into a storm of chaos, anger, and fear.
And yet the culprits were already far beyond their reach.
……..
Their figures shot forward like shadows and disappeared into the distance, leaving Pentos standing behind as if nothing had happened.
The wind rushed past them as they traveled away from the estate at high speed. The trees blurred, and the ground beneath them passed like a streak. After putting enough distance between themselves and the Ambrose estate, their pace finally slowed slightly.
Rathlos glanced at Ethan.
“Can he even survive?” he asked.
“He might be killed once found.”
Ethan snorted lightly.
“So what?”
“It’s his fault to make a move. It’s just a counterattack,” he said, his tone calm but cold.
There was no hesitation in his voice.
Pentos had made his choice when he tried to scheme against him. What happened next was simply the result of that choice.
Rathlos did not reply immediately. He simply nodded and looked ahead.
Ethan’s gaze then shifted toward Marverick, who followed silently behind them like a shadow.
From Marverick’s earlier movements and reactions, Ethan had already gained a rough understanding of the strength of these noble houses.
And it was terrifying.
At Blanks, he, Rathlos, and Mareti stood at the Mythic level.
That alone had already made them powerful in their region.
But here…
In these larger families…
Mythic rank was not some untouchable peak.It was just another level.
Just another soldier.
Ethan’s eyes narrowed slightly.
The gap between them and the true upper forces of the empire was still vast.
He slowly shook his head.
For a moment, silence fell between them as they continued moving through the dark landscape.
Then, almost unconsciously, a thought surfaced in his mind.
A quiet line he had once heard.
“The night is deep and the journey is long.”
Even if I am tired and want to rest, there are miles to go before I sleep.
There are miles to go before I sleep.
Ethan’s expression remained calm, but his eyes carried a faint sharpness.
