Primordial Chaos Dragon Tower: Harem System - Chapter 1152: Ranking Up

Chapter 1152: Ranking Up
“Shit!”
Jest exclaimed, jumping back.
Just when he jumped away, a 300-meter-long centipede burst out of the ground and raised its head into the air, standing 120 meters tall.
Jest landed on a large stone 300 meters away and appraised the demon beast.
“This one is a Peak Root Immortal.” Jest’s gaze swept along the thick and segmented carapace of the centipede, and he took in a deep breath.
Its body is covered in a thick and metallic carapace, making it nearly impenetrable. It also had this metallic shine to it that only seemed to discourage anyone who saw it.
It was the kind of metal that told people their sword or spear was not getting through this monstrosity.
Jest knew he had met a dangerous one.
It had already been seven months since he ventured into the Devil’s Maw. In the past months, he had stayed in the outer section of the forest, where only beasts ranging from Spirit Lord to Empyrean lived.
Of course, one would say that in Immortal Worlds, such beasts are bugs that would be stomped on. However, to Jest, who was only at the Heavenly Ascension stage, they were a danger to him.
Naturally, he struggled a bit against them until his cultivation finally advanced to the Empyrean stage.
That was when things picked up for him.
He became so powerful due to his solid foundation, allowing him to go against even Life and Death stage demon beasts and a few humans without fear.
It took him just four months for his name to appear on the Demon Hunter Solo Chart. That meant he was among the top 100,000 demon hunters.
Though not too impressive, it was to be noted that his name appeared within a pool of immortal hunters. It was something to be proud of.
But that was just the start for Jest.
Soon, however, he started rising through the ranks like a firework. By then, Jest had entered the deeper outer region, where he started facing Empyrean, Life Stage, and Death Stage beasts.
Safe to say, he was having a field day with the beasts.
He had been to the deepest and darkest depths of the Sword Valley, and so he knew what danger was and how to live with it.
By the time he spent seven months in the Devil’s Maw, his name had risen to the top 50,000. That was when people began to notice him.
But Jest still had four months to spend in the Devil’s Maw before leaving to see if he could get into the sect that the one person he planned to ignore for the rest of his life was actually the leader of.
He, of course, didn’t know that.
He had no idea that the Seraphina lady who came close to killing him several times was actually the sword emotion of the leader of that sect.
But since he never got the chance to know her, he would be walking into the maw of the abyss, where the Devil’s Maw would look like a playground.
Jest took a deep breath again and then eyed the centipede for a moment before taking out a talisman.
“Good thing I made dozens of these before entering the Inner Region.” The moment he activated the talisman, a sword appeared in the air and took a powerful swing.
The swing manifested Seraphina’s sword realm, which had been transformed into a sword arc, cleaving into the Root Immortal centipede demon beast.
It may have had a hard carapace, but using a sword realm as a sword technique possessed so much power that even it couldn’t tank it.
Its body slammed hard into the ground, raising both dust and stones into the air. After everything had settled, Jest took out a jade tablet from his space ring, pointed it at the beast, and channeled his energy into it.
A beam of light shot from the jade tablet and enveloped the beast. After scanning it for a few seconds, the body vanished, and Jest looked at the writing that appeared on the jade tablet.
“Hmm, looks like I need to kill five more Root Immortal beasts to finally enter the top 25,000.” A smile appeared on his lips as he looked at his current rank.
This time, he had done something unprecedented.
Killing an Immortal as a mortal warranted some applause. Of course, he merely used a talisman which he had created for moments like these.
If the beast had been less than 100 meters tall, he would have fought it. But with such a colossal body, a single miscalculation would have resulted in his getting injured or worse — dying.
Thankfully, one of the many things he learned before coming to the Immortal World was how to compress his sword skills into a talisman, thereby unleashing them with a mere channel of energy.
It is taxing to create, but with dozens in hand, he will be having a field day for as long as he only meets Root Immortal beasts and below.
Jest ventured deeper into the forest, hunting all he could find.
In no time, three months passed, and so, Jest decided to leave. However, by then, he had risen to the top 20,000 and amassed millions in Immortal Stones.
After traveling for three days nonstop, he finally arrived at the checkpoint where he would claim his rewards before leaving.
Every beast had a point and a price. The points helped him rank up, and the price was what he would now claim. Hunters don’t come there to mess around.
“Good to see you didn’t die young man,” an old man with a white beard said, looking at Jest. Months back, when Jest came to register to become a solo hunter, he had tried his best to stop him.
Naturally, Jest, with his Heavenly Ascension stage cultivation, had no business entering the Devil’s Maw. So he tried to persuade him not to throw his life away.
But Jest didn’t take his advice, and so he only sighed and registered him. Now, it seemed he was surprised to see him.
Jest smiled and handed the jade tablet to him. “Told you I would return alive, old man.”
The old man brushed his beard and smiled with a nod. “I guess you did.”
He pressed the jade tablet against a jade crystal, checking to see how much would be given to Jest. A formation appeared on the tablet, and he then placed the jade tablet in it.
A purple light illuminated the jade crystal.
The old man widened his eyes when the purple light appeared.
“Impossible!”
Jest shook his head and smiled weakly. “Nothing is impossible, old man.”
“I don’t understand. How can a mortal enter the top 20,000 ranks? That is impossible.”
The old man looked at Jest, then turned to the jade crystal. ’There is no way this is faulty.’
Out of curiosity, he checked the amount Jest had amassed, and to his shock, it was in the millions.
One Immortal stone was worth ten million high-grade Spirit Stones. Jest had amassed millions of them from the hundreds, perhaps thousands, of beasts he had killed.
“I happen to be in a hurry, old man, so if you will please hurry for me.”
The old man snapped out of his daze. “Sorry, young man, I will get right on that.”
Jest nodded and started waiting for the old man to process his money. Some time later, he was handed a space ring filled with millions of Immortal Stones. Then he was handed a new jade tablet.
This one is purple, showing he had reached the top 20,000, earning the rank of a Demon Hunter King.
He bid the old man farewell and left.
Soon, he was back in Shengdao City, where he did some shopping before leaving for the disciple selection exams at the Whispering Wind Sect…
Meanwhile, news of a mortal appearing in the top 20,000 Solo Demon Hunter Chart started to spread.
