Primordial Chaos Dragon Tower: Harem System - Chapter 1153: Infinity Stairway

Chapter 1153: Infinity Stairway
Amid the rumours and chaos about a mortal appearing in the top 20,000 Solo Demon Hunter chart, Jest travelled several miles to reach Mongo City, where the Whispering Wind Sword Sect is located.
He quickly asked for directions to the sect.
Thankfully, he didn’t suffer to locate the road leading to the sect, which is situated atop a mountain. A large and extremely tall stairway leads to it.
Jest stood tall at the bottom, looking at the thousands of people slowly climbing up. They were all here for the same reason he came, so he could only sigh.
However, learning that this place is a no-fly zone, he couldn’t help but feel a little dispirited. He rushed to Mongo City, so he was tired. Now, he would be forced to climb this tower of a stairway.
“No-fly zone, huh?” Jest chuckled.
“I’d better start early. Who knows what other surprises await me up there?” Jest took the first step and started climbing.
In no time, he had ascended a hundred steps and continued climbing.
After 3 hours, with no destination in sight, Jest began to see the hidden nature of these stairs…
“Come to think of it, the man who gave me the directions didn’t tell me how long this stairway is. He only said, ’Go that way and climb the stairway. It will shortly lead you to where you want to go.’”
Jest scratched his head. “Was he speaking hypothetically, or did he mean it when he said it will shortly lead me to the sect? I mean, it has been hours already, and in my book, that is more than a short time.”
Just looking back, he could only see people climbing after him. Forward too, thousands were climbing.
“I cannot stop just yet.” He continued to climb, passing a few people on the way.
Soon, a week passed, and Jest had climbed thousands of stairs.
“That is the 100,206th step. Just what the hell is going on here?” Jest paused, looking down to see many people lying exhausted on the steps.
He looked up and saw a similar scene. However, he also saw a determined few who continued to climb. This scene also energized him.
“I didn’t escape slavery to give up just like that.”
With this focused mindset, he continued to climb. Soon, he didn’t even realise the spiritual energy in the air had vanished.
Three weeks later, he finally saw a large gate in the distance. The sight he had been hoping for had finally appeared within his view, but with how exhausted he was, Jest couldn’t relish it.
Nevertheless, he kept going. Seven hours later, he finally saw the gate well. It was made from the bones of immortal beasts, hard enough to withstand even the full-on assault of an Immortal Lord.
Naturally, Jest didn’t focus on the gate too much.
His gaze turned to the hundreds of carriages packed on one side of the gate, and to the hundreds of neatly dressed young people standing and some sitting in them.
Jest didn’t want to think about it, but seeing this sight, a memory from when he was a slave was triggered. Back then, the slave masters would bring the privileged and rich heirs to the slave mines just to come and mess with the poor slaves.
Jest himself had been a victim multiple times.
Perhaps it was due to all those tortures that he finally decided to embrace death and scale the Wall of Doom, finally attaining his freedom.
They would pack their carriages just as they did here, do what they came to do, and then leave.
Jest turned and looked behind him, but he saw nobody coming from behind him. It had been three weeks and millions of stairways. Naturally, they also lost access to their spiritual qi along the way, so it was pure physical strength.
Seeing none within his sight, it meant they had given up.
He sighed, and then after an hour, he started climbing again. In no time, he appeared on level ground, earning the stares of many.
“No way he actually climbed the Infinity Stairway,” someone exclaimed, causing more to narrow their eyes at Jest, who had dropped to his knees and was panting for breath.
“He clearly climbed the Infinity Stairway. But just how was he able to do it? Nobody has ever succeeded in climbing it for the past three hundred thousand years.”
“I know, right? The last person to climb it had already ascended to a god world. This is impossible.”
More voices entered the conversation, prompting some of the youngsters in the carriages to frown.
They clearly saw Jest come from the Infinity Stairway, a measure put in place to allow those who aren’t privileged enough to secure a spot as new disciples to gain entry into the sect.
So far as you can climb, you will automatically become a disciple. Many tried and failed…
“They said halfway through the climb, all spiritual energy is cut off, allowing only physical strength to climb the rest. Just how did this skinny kid manage it?”
Jest slowly caught his breath and then stood up, allowing his pride to bloom as he turned and looked at the many eyes on him.
After observing them for a while, a scoff escaped his lips. He then started walking in a certain direction to sit down and recover.
Suddenly, a chuckle came from a certain carriage.
Jest turned and looked at the person who chuckled.
“So what if he climbed the Infinity Stairway? In the end, it is we who have solid backing that will become powerful immortals and rule this universe as if it were our own.
Or you think forming immortal qi is something just anybody with no wealth can do,” He sneered and added a few words that he shouldn’t have.
“It would be best if you found a master and pledged your useless life to them. I don’t mind putting a collar around your neck and making you my dog.”
Dozens laughed, feeling nothing wrong with what the young heir said. To them, having a slave was normal, and so if Jest became a slave of an heir from one of the powerful immortal families, his future would be bright.
After all, gaining entry to the sect and having powerful backing are two different things.
Unbeknownst to him, the person he said this to hates only one thing in this life, and that is slavery. Hearing these words triggered him, but Jest was a patient predator.
He turned to the bastard who spoke and, in a chilling tone that caused many to shudder in their boots, he made a promise.
“The only reason your head is still attached to your body is because you have a powerful backing, and killing you would be bad.
However, once we both become disciples, I will have the sect as my backer, which means I will have the backbone to kill you. As they say, as long as you are inside the sect, nobody can touch you from the outside.”
He smiled and moved closer to the bastard. “I will kill you, and there is nothing your father or mother can do about it. So be happy with the few moments you have left, for your death is looming over your head.
This is my promise to you.”
With that, he turned away and left, leaving the poor bastard to break into a cold sweat.
What Jest didn’t know was that, just now, when he got angry, the sword realm he learned from Seraphina manifested, or at least a sliver of it did.
And since it was the sword realm of a sword immortal, the pressure was several times more lethal.
—
Inside an immortal cave somewhere in the core region, the green-haired lady opened her green eyes and looked toward the entrance of the sect.
“Impossible…Just how…”
