Chapter 1387 The Eighth Floor – Greed King (3)
Kaizo led the team underwater to battle the beast and ensure that none of the ship was destroyed. Of course, to make sure everything was perfect, he left Unity, Lilian, Dia, and Yuyin on the deck to make sure no danger slipped up on them.
The rest of the legion that are above teh Heavenly Ascension stage had to stand on the side since the mission doesn’t need them.
“We are Void Beasts, so this universe has no hold on us. This means we can easily get this mission cleared within a few seconds,” Axiom said, leaning lazily on the edge of the ship, watching as the water started turning red.
“We know you are awesome and all, but know that this is a training mission, so until we reach the ranks of immortals where even I or Enkay can’t handle it, that would be when you will be needed,” Uncle Drew said with a slight smirk.
“How boring. It is like being back in the Void Temple all over again,” Kol also exhibited his frustration, spinning an arrow between his fingers.
Vexthra shook her head and decided not to entertain them.
As a god, she could tell just how dangerous the three Void Beasts were. Kol is a Spirit Immortal, but he had the power to fight Core Immortals and even a True Immortal.
While Kailan, who is a True Immortal, could go as far as fighting Immortal Kings. As for Axiom, he is an Immortal King, but handling even an Immortal Monarch or Immortal Lord was not outside his capabilities.
So if they were that powerful, letting them handle a mission with an Empyrean as the limit was basically cheating. It would deprive the others of a good chance to train.
So for now, they would have to wait and let the youngsters have some fun.
Underwater, every last beast that tried to come any closer to the ships was being dealt with by Kaizo and his team.
Suddenly, a seahorse appeared from the east and quickly started charging a lightning blast at one of the ships, much closer to its location.
However, before it could finish charging the attack, an arrow came out of nowhere and stabbed into its head. The lightning that was being charged became unstable and exploded, taking its head off its neck.
“Awesome,” Dia said, feeling happy for her sister. She could remember how impressive Artemis was with the bow, so seeing her even more impressive now filled her heart with so much joy.
Unity smiled back and started focusing more on the battle that was happening all around them, underwater.
The water started turning red as the beasts were being slaughtered.

Meanwhile, after leaving with Zaila, Kent rapidly closed in on the island. He wasn’t using his full speed or the Jade Void wings, but even with this speed, he was going so fast that within a few minutes, they had moved tens of thousands of miles.
In less than 30 minutes, the island came into sight. However, when they saw smoke coming from multiple places, Kent increased the pace.
In an instant, his speed surged, causing Zaila to tighten her hold on him, fearing she would fall.
Kent smiled and held on to her much more tightly, making her aware he had no plans on letting her fall. In a few seconds, they were hovering over the island.
It wasn’t that big, so everything that was happening was within the soul map’s coverage.
This allowed them to see the dead bodies on the ground. There were a few hundred warriors dead and a thousand locked in battle with each other.
Inside a mansion, a deep green-skinned man who looked both Elven and demonic was seated on a throne, his eyes closed, an amused expression on his face.
He seemed to be controlling the green elves to attack and kill each other.
“Looks like we are late,” Kent said, looking at the battle happening on the island. His soul map showed him the thousands of Elves, some showing signs of violence, others scared beyond their understanding.
“Send me to the mansion. I will find a way to enter his mind and defeat him. You, on the other hand, must find a way to stop the battles happening all over the island.”
Kent nodded. “Be careful. I will keep a close eye on you, but be careful when you face him mentally.”
Zaila kissed him, and then she was sent away. The next second, she appeared inside the throne room, prompting the Green King to snap his eyes open.
An invisible mental pressure assaulted Zaila’s mind. However, she felt no discomfort whatsoever. She walked forward, and when she was close enough, her eyes changed color from the usual brown to blue. “Let’s see whose mind will break the fastest.”
Without giving the Greed King any chance, she activated mental combat. From this point forward, it would be about who had the strongest mental strength.
Zaila is a Heavenly Ascension stage mind cultivator, while the Greed King is an Empyrean. That is a single stage above her.
However, when it comes to mind cultivation, it isn’t always about the cultivation stage but more about mental strength.
Zaila sat in a lotus posture as their mental duel began in the mind realm.
On the outside, Kent remained standing in the air for a few seconds, analyzing how best to handle the battles happening all over. He could see the greed within the hearts of the elves fighting.
That was a clear sign that the Green King wasn’t only mind-controlling them; he had tapped into the greed in their hearts and weaponized it against them.
That was why, even when Zaila challenged him to a mental duel, the battle didn’t stop. His hold on them wasn’t just to kill them but to amplify the greed in their hearts and take it for himself.
It took Kent a moment to figure that one out. But even when he did, he found no way to cut that connection.
‘Tower, if I manage to knock them out, would that solve the problem?’
[No, master. Even when they are unconscious, the Green King can still siphon the greed in their hearts. The only way is to kill them or find the connection between them and the Greed King and cut it.]
‘Oh, that is going to be a bit difficult,’ Kent smiled. ‘If I were to be an ordinary person, that is.’
He blinked a few times, then he activated the Heavenly Jade Eye. At once, he could see thousands of strings coming from the mansion where the Greed King was, each linking to the soul of every last elf on the island.
“How insidious,” Kent said, a bit disturbed at seeing strings linked to even babies.
He quickly came up with a way to handle that. He opened the soul universe and started flooding the entire island with soul essence.
The only way to stop this was to cut the strings. However, learning that even babies had been affected, he decided to first protect their souls. This way, when he started cutting the strings, no harm would come to them.
The mission this time indeed had variables, and one of them was seeing babies affected by the attack of someone who was once their king.
The second variable was, of course, the shadows slowly moving toward his direction from the moment he and Zaila arrived.
