Chapter 1450 Plan to Cross The Unknown Forest
Kent settled down on the mountain peak, and while he waited for the Tower to finish its scan, he also started using the soul map to scan the 80,000 km radius around him.
Although he had also concluded that, against a powerful opponent, his soul map is flawed, he had been working actively to fix that issue.
He observed that if the target is much stronger than him, they only register inside the soul map when they are a few meters away.
However, if he were to flood the soul map radius with soul essence, then even from a 30,000 km radius, he would be able to see them.
But that is not good for him.
He knew he would be facing powerful foes at every turn on this journey, so he had to find a way to be able to see his targets long before they spot him.
An average True Immortal can easily sense anything within a 100,000 km radius.
However, not many have that much time and energy to spread their senses that vast. So most of the time, he wouldn’t have to worry about his opponent sensing him before he did.
Of course, he wouldn’t be betting on that, especially when the location he may find himself is a no-man’s land. Where there is danger, everyone tends to be on high alert.
However, even after spending about 30 minutes trying to make sense of how to be ahead of his opponents, he came out empty-handed. It turned out there was only so much he could do by pumping so much soul essence into the soul map. “If I want to sense more, I must increase my soul cultivation. That is the only way.” He sighed, not out of frustration but just plain disappointment.
If he can’t see that far, even though his senses have covered it, then he most certainly would only have to wait until he becomes a Tier 20 soul cultivator and even higher.
But would his opponents wait till he is Tier 20 before sneaking up on him?
“Such a shame. If I could concoct a Tier 15 Soul Ascension Pill, while that won’t help me break through to Tier 20, it would strengthen it even more. Maybe that would allow me to sense more.”
His mastery in alchemy is only at Tier 13, so he could only hope for now.
“But I can go ahead and make it so that if I can’t sense them, they also can’t sense me either.” This sounded like a good and achievable idea, so he decided to give it a try.
However, he had only begun brainstorming when the Tower prompted him that she had finished her scan.
“Tell me what you have discovered, Tower.”
[There is good and bad news.]
“Good news first…” he didn’t even hesitate.
[The good news is that the moment you cross this forest, you will appear on a main road. That road leads to a city, judging by the tracks left by what appear to be carriages.
However, the bad news is that this forest has four sections, each ruled by an Immortal Lord or at least appears to be.
We are currently in the Eastern section, ruled by the Blade-Winged Falcon. She is one of the fastest beasts in this forest.
Even more bad news: we are currently in the territory of an Immortal Monarch Mountain Goat who has already sensed your presence and is sneaking up on you.]
ROAR
A powerful roar, almost like that of a dragon, filled the air.
“Goats don’t roar, do they?” Kent asked just as his sword appeared in his grip. Then with a powerful swing, he struck back, meeting the metallic hooves of a 30-meter-tall goat.
The impact rattled his arm, pushing him back a few meters. The goat landed on the mountain, its nostrils oozing smoke. Its gaze locked on Kent, and with every exhale, the danger tightened around him.
“What are you doing in my territory, human?”
“Oh, you can speak.” Kent was taken aback, but he didn’t dwell on it. He knew his life was in danger yet again.
However, the allure of locking in battle with this goat seems to be getting the best of him. Just looking at the goat seems to bring back old memories. Back when Jest was exploring the Sword Valley, looking for a way to ascend to the Immortal World, he came close to being killed by a Mountain Goat.
It was one of the most dangerous battles he had fought before ascending to the immortal realm. So seeing one again was like being back in the Sword Valley. However, he had no plans of dying today, not when he had just learned there is an Immortal Lord-level beast inside the forest and that it may have already sensed his presence.
“I am just passing through, Uncle Goat,” he said, keeping his grip firm on his sword. At any change in the goat’s posture, he would attack.
Of course, there was just no way he would spend a second fighting a senseless battle. If there is a chance, he would make a fast exit.
“My queen had already sensed your battle with the octopus and the lion and sent me to fetch you. You can either come with me willingly, or I will drag your
unconscious body there if I have to.”
“What does she want with me?” Kent asked.
He had already prepared an escape route, so depending on Uncle Goat’s
answer, he would pull a fast one.
However, while he was prepared to make a run for it, a part of him kept telling him to go with the goat. If there is one thing he knows and trusts about his
sixth sense, it is to always trust it.
If it says going with the Goat is the best option for him, then he will.
So he took a deep breath and asked the same question again, “What does she
want with me?”
“You killed two of her people, so you must answer for that. Now, do you want
to come peacefully or forcefully?”
“Hmm,” Kent hummed, then he nodded.
“Lead the way.”
Running was the only option he had.
However, if he were caught, he knew he would be in trouble. He might have the
Jade Void Wings, but he knew for a fact that, against an Immortal Lord who specialises in speed, there is no way he could outrun her.
So hearing what she had to say seemed logical. After all, she came in peace, even sending a goat to fetch him.
‘I really should improve my sensing abilities, or else one day I might end up dead without even knowing how!
They took flight and soon headed deeper into the forest. Along the way, Kent couldn’t help but dread the fact that he had actually thought of running. The sheer number of Immortal-level beasts they kept passing by was just too staggering. He never expected there to be this many beasts.
With just a single command, thousands would surround him before he could even take ten steps.
‘If there is a tour guide here, now is the time they would say, “Welcome to the
world of immortals.”
Kent couldn’t help but let out a small chuckle. A couple of minutes later, a rather lavish building, one built from wood, came into sight.
Kent narrowed his eyes at it, a wave of dread filling his heart as they neared it.
Inside, he could sense a terror looking directly at him. It was as if her mere
gaze was enough to burn a hole in his heart.
“There goes my plan to cross the unknown forest, Kent smiled inwardly. A few seconds later, they landed before the wooden house.
“My queen, I brought the human,” the goat said, transforming into a demihuman
so he could kneel.
“Enter, human.” The door swung open, and Kent stepped in. It closed behind him.
“So you are the one who killed two of my people”
