Chapter 876: Kent vs The Wandering Demon Swordsman (1)
Kent hovered just above the tombstone, looking at the Wandering Demon Swordsman with a smile that contained both teasing and wariness.
He may have formed his core, becoming a terror; however, the person standing before him was still a Heavenly Ascension stage expert, seven whole realms above him.
If that doesn’t call for him to be wary, then there is no telling what kind of maniac Kent had become.
Facing such a demon and appearing fearless was far from normal, and he knew that.
“I contemplated running from you when I first got here, and for a moment I did. I didn’t know who you were back then. However, when I found out who you are, I decided not to run and face you.
However, before the battle, I only have one question, and I would love to have your honest answer. Trust me, it will be in your best interest to tell me the truth.”
Perhaps he was still in shock because the Wandering Demon Swordsman just stood there looking at Kent like he was some form of god talking down at him.
Kent didn’t mind the situation because, as it may be, he was indeed looking to have an answer to the question he most surely wanted to ask.
“Is it true that if a swordsman uses their sword realm against those below the Sword King stage, the sword dao will punish them?”
The question was one Kent had forgotten to ask the sword dao when they met.
Of course, Kent already has a partial answer from the perspective of Medium world swordsmen, so he most certainly wanted to get an honest answer from this demon, someone from a High World.
The Wandering Demon Swordsman looked at him for a few seconds before he spoke, “You are from a medium world.”
“Any problem with that?”
“No,” the Wandering Demon Swordsman extended his hand, and his jagged sword appeared in his firm grip.
“And there is no problem. But to answer your question, know that you are in a High world now, so just die.” The Wandering Demon Swordsman moved and unleashed a powerful vertical slash with his jagged sword.
Cling.
The sword landed on a ring, sending the Wandering Demon Swordsman skidding back.
Kent smiled as two more rings appeared around him. The first ring was spinning like a squid in front of him, while one was behind him, and the last was above him.
“Be polite, Mr. Wandering Demon Swordsman. I didn’t send you an invitation because I plan on dying. That said, I have one last question.” Kent spoke with a grin; however, the Wandering Demon Swordsman didn’t allow him to ask the question.
He moved and unleashed a horizontal slash; however, just like with the first attack, his sword landed on another ring, sending him skidding back.
He tried again, striking with a powerful diagonal attack, attempting to use the opening between the ring at the top and the one in front of Kent. However, they moved and blocked his sword.
But just before his sword was about to land on the ring, his left leg moved, aiming for Kent’s exposed ribcage.
However, the ring behind Kent moved and blocked the powerful kick, sending him flying back again.
[That was ten percent of his power, master. Be ready, for he is getting angry.]
’I suppose the rings work. It was too draining. But then again, I have four unabsorbed cores powering them, so I can use them for a while.’
[Until the master forms the first Core Gate, he cannot use the rings to channel energy directly from the Primal Chaos Core since that will be too draining.
However, even with four cores active, the master still needs to handle things more actively.]
’I know, Tower,’ Kent smiled, looking at the Wandering Demon Swordsman lock his gaze on the three rings moving around him.
“My question: Is it true you killed a Sword Emperor?”
The Wandering Demon Swordsman looked at Kent with a frown, thinking about how someone from a mere medium world would know something like that.
However, before he could even think of an answer, his body moved, telling him to kill the brat.
He unleashed another powerful swing vertically, but this time, Kent brought his sword to meet it instead of using the ring.
The ground where he stood cracked, revealing the underlying force behind the attack. However, Kent wasn’t concerned about that because he barely felt the force behind the sword attack.
The Wandering Demon Swordsman attacked again, aiming for Kent’s neck, but he ducked and unleashed an attack at the Wandering Demon Swordsman’s leg.
Both attacks missed, but that was just the start of the battle. Though the Wandering Demon swordsman wanted to kill Kent, he still looked down on him, and thus, he wasn’t going all out.
The air crackled with tension as the two faced off fiercely.
They each have their objective in this battle.
Kent wanted to complete one requirement to become a sword sage by cutting off the wandering demon swordsman’s head, while the Wandering Demon Swordsman sought to wipe away his humiliation by cutting Kent’s head off.
In context, they each want the other’s head, though the wandering demon swordsman wants it more than Kent.
The humiliation Kent had put him through was so unbearable that it would have been impossible for him to continue living if it were not erased.
He might even develop a heart devil if he didn’t kill Kent.
So, he was doing everything in his capacity to end the brat, who was finally learning what fighting against the odds looks and feels like.
The Wandering Demon Swordsman’s eyes burned with fury as he crossed swords with Kent. He lunged forward with a furious slash, faster than the eye could follow, aiming for Kent’s neck.
But the brat, thanks to the ’Soul Map,’ was able to see the attack ahead of time.
Kent raised his sword just in time for the two blades to clash with a loud clang.
Sparks flew everywhere. At the same time, something zipped through the air.
The Wandering Demon Swordsman moved back, twisting his body at an unnatural angle as a thin sword grazed his arm, drawing blood.
’Lucky bastard,’ Kent used his left hand to control the flying sword, making it hover behind him.
“Do you like my little trick?” Kent asked with a smile, looking at the Wandering Demon Swordsman, who was a little shocked by the sudden attack he had never seen coming.
“There is more where that came from, so prepare in advance because I expect the battle to be a good one.”
The smile on Kent’s face caused the Wandering Demon Swordsman to raise a defense, causing red energy to coat his body.
“That won’t save you, Mr. Wandering Demon Swordsman.”
Kent jumped back just as a bony hand burst from the ground and tried to latch onto his leg. Had he been a moment slower, he would have been caught by the hand.
However, Kent wasn’t safe because the moment he landed on the ground, the Wandering Demon Swordsman arrived with an overhead slash.
Boom.
Kent blocked the attack. However, his body was pressed down, causing him to go down on his knees with one leg.
Kent pushed back with all his strength, but the Demon Swordsman was relentless.
He unleashed a mighty kick with his left leg, aiming for Kent’s left shoulder.
Kent smiled evilly just as the leg came. Learning from his battle with his perfect self inside the Perfect Chamber, Kent unleashed three Doom Shards, sending them flying at the leg.
The Wandering Demon Swordsman abandoned his attack and flew back.
’Got your ass.’ Kent muttered coldly.
