Chapter 992: The Fourth Floor – Church Of Destruction (6)
While days passed for Kent, simply because he was running on the tower’s time, back in the future, only hours had passed for his legion and wives, who were challenging the 4th floor of the Planet Killer dungeon.
They aren’t running on the tower time, so to them, it hadn’t even been a day since their battle with the Church of Destruction.
Vexthra is working around the clock to ensure Neomi is ready for her role in the upcoming battle.
This time, only she, Sylara, and Veydris will be participating.
Veydris is going because, well, he is the strongest and extremely dangerous.
Sylara will be going because of her Blood Hunger Seal, which, if she were to burn its essence, she would gain the power to fight against the followers of the demon god of destruction.
Lastly, there is Neomi, who, thanks to the Bloodvein tribe, will be harnessing the power of faith to fight.
Vexthra wanted to teach her how to harness the power of faith first before the main mission arrives. Lani and Elyndra still hadn’t reached back to them, so they are merely waiting for them.
“Listen very carefully, Neomi,” Vexthra said, looking at her sister with a calm expression. Neomi nodded and started paying much closer attention. “To harness the power of faith, you must first become a god.”
Neomi frowned a little, hearing something she had no business becoming until many years to come at least.
“I am just a core formation cultivator, big sister, how can I become a god with this weak cultivation?”
Vexthra smiles and then takes Neomi’s hand, “At your core, you are a god simply because you possess the power of faith.
Of course, if this were ordinary times, aside from the faith you’ve gathered protecting you indirectly, you wouldn’t even know you had it.
But once the power of the demon god descends, the rules binding you to the core formation stage will temporarily be lifted, allowing you to become a goddess.
Once that happens, all prayers ever prayed to you by your followers will fill your head. Now, under normal circumstances, I would have asked you to ignore them. However, you need strength, and the way to do that is to answer their prayers.”
Vexthra turns to Sylara and Veydris. “This is where you two come in. While she is becoming a god, answering the prayers, you two must hold down the fort.
She will need a minimum of five minutes to complete answering all prayers and attain the divinity that came from those faiths.
Under no circumstances should she be interrupted. So I am afraid you would have to burn your Blood Hunger Seal, Sylara.”
“It is okay, big sister,” Sylara said with a smile, “If burning it will give me the power to fight against the minions of a god, then I will gladly do it.”
Vexthra smiled and nodded, and then turned back to Neomi, “Once you answer their prayers and gain enough divinity, you will move to start fighting the minions, while Veydris locates and destroys the statue of the demon god.
The longer the fight progresses, the more blessings the demon god can bestow on his minions, so destroying his statue is the main target here.
There will be many statues, but the main one is mostly inside the church. Destroy it, and the connection between them and their god will be severed.”
“Seems simple enough,” Neomi said, already prepared for the next phase of the battle.
“Indeed,” Vexthra nodded and scratched the back of her mind. Unity, who had studied her big sister and knew when she was hiding something, nudged her to spill the beans.
“You are hiding something, big sister.”
“It is not important yet,” Vexthra replied, pinching Unity’s ear.
“However, since you want to know, Neomi, there is a price you will have to pay for using the power of faith while still not being a god.
You see, in everything, there is cause and effect.
To use the power of faith, you must become a god first. However, because you will be taking advantage of the temporary lapse in the laws governing the power of faith, once the laws are restored, they will impose a punishment.
It wouldn’t be too harsh, like killing you or restricting you. At most, you will be out of commission for a year, maybe two.”
“Out of commission as in not being able to fight for a year,” Neomi asked.
“Yes. However, with the tower, you can easily pass the time there.”
“I see.” Clearly, the idea of not being able to fight for a year didn’t sit right with Neomi. “We all have to pay a price somehow. If this is mine, then so be it.”
Luckily for her, she can tell when to be the bigger person. So she will pay this price for her sisters.
“Don’t worry, Kent will be out of seclusion soon. Once he is out, you will have some alone time with him while we are all either on this same floor exploring or on the 5th floor.”
Naturally, Vexthra brought all the joy back to Neomi’s life. If spending time with Kent is the price she has to pay for not being able to fight for a year or maybe two, then so be it.
Neomi’s sisters could only sigh and wish this were them.
However, knowing these were difficult times, they could only let her have this while they waited for their turn, some other time.
—
A couple of hours later, Lani’s voice entered Vexthra’s head.
“Big sister, we have located the church of destruction.”
“Nice work, Lani.”
Vexthra called her sisters and team to gather. A couple of minutes later, everyone is gathered around, and she starts briefing them.
“The majority of the battle will be fought by Neomi, Veydris, and Sylara. However, once the god statue is down, you all can join.
Though I doubt you will be able to do anything since we have someone like Neomi on the battlefield. That said, five of you will stay here to guard the village in case there are still some hidden members we haven’t accounted for.”
Vexthra let Shade King Nykali, Vaelros, Skoggr, Morne, and Varyne stay. Just one of them would have been enough, however, to prevent any unfortunate incident from happening; she decided to deploy 5 of them.
The rest used the connection of the tower to teleport to the location of Lani and Elyndra.
When they arrived, they found themselves in a valley that stretched several miles long. In the distance, they could see a black tower looming toward the sky.
The design is reminiscent of one of those buildings, where one doesn’t need any intelligence to know a lot of ominous things happen within its walls.
“Big sister, from our surveillance, there seem to be exactly 500 people within the church. However, they have guard dogs.”
The guard dogs are two Alpha wolves, each at the peak of the Spirit Lord stage.
“Unity, you have been promoted to join Sylara, Veydris, and Neomi. Your job is to kill the guard dogs and retreat.”
Unity grinned at her sisters and then retrieved two arrows that made everyone’s back break into a cold sweat.
When it comes to trump cards, Unity’s Primordial Spirits had done a great job crafting some of the most deadliest arrows for her before they went out of commission.
She will be using 2 of such arrows to kill the Alpha wolves.
“Good luck, we will be cheering for you.”
