Chapter 993: The Fourth Floor – Church Of Destruction (7)
[Church of Destruction]
Inside the Church of Destruction, one would expect it to have some color aside from black, but no, every last thing is black, including the statues standing inside.
Clearly, they want everyone to know what they are about.
However, the 500 people gathered inside are all wearing white, which contrasts with the ominous feeling they were trying to convey.
Standing at the altar, holding a black candle, is a human figure with green eyes and deep red marks on its neck.
“I have just received words from our lord,” he spoke, causing the people kneeling down to smile. “The lord said we shouldn’t worry, that he will bestow his power on us so we can fight against those who seek to end us.
He promised to allow us to feel what it is like to have faith in him, so my brothers and sisters, do not worry, for we have nothing to fear.”
“All hail Lord Balmos.”
“Praise be to the Demon God.”
Meanwhile, 400 meters away from the church, Unity stood on a stone wearing a focused expression. Behind her stood Veydris, Sylara, and Neomi.
“Are you sure you can take the shot 400 meters away? Those are Tier 18 beasts,” Neomi asked, placing her hand on Unity’s shoulder.
“You insult my experience as an archer, sister,” Unity responded with a grin.
Neomi smirked and said… “Just saying. I know you and Kaizo are like rivals, and killing Tier 18 beasts while 400 meters away feels like a brag that Kaizo would definitely have a hard time surpassing.
However, you seem to forget that our safety counts on you killing those two in less than 3 seconds. Just don’t get in over your head, sister.”
Unity smiles and turns to Neomi, “Relax, sis, I have everything under control.”
Unity looked past her, and 100 meters away, she gave Alina a slight nod. Alina also returned her nod before opening a formation.
’Nice doing business with you, Alina.’
Alina smiled, ’Likewise. Just don’t go back on your word. I will take a week of your time with Kent as payment for helping you.’
’I am a person with integrity, sister. I wouldn’t go back on my word,’ Unity smiled, and then placed one arrow in her bow and held the other in her quiver strapped to her back.
“Time to move, guys.”
Neomi and Sylara moved while Veydris entered the void.
Unity waited for five seconds before activating a skill that allowed her to see the weak points on the two beasts.
With the formation boosting her range and power, she was ready.
“Peace out, punks.” One arrow vanished from her bow, and a second later, a second arrow was also released.
—
Four hundred meters away, the two Alpha Wolves sensed something approaching that could endanger their lives. However, just when they sensed the danger, it vanished.
But the next second, something lethal went through their hearts, preventing them from even howling.
Right when the arrow went through their chests, the door leading to the church was struck by Veydris, who came out of the void.
However, his attack merely made it shudder but couldn’t break it.
Veydris entered the void the next second, already aware of this outcome.
“They are here,” the priest shouted, lifting the black candle, which turned into a staff. He then stabbed it on the ground, and the entire church trembled.
“Oh, Great Demon God Balmos. I call on you in times of need, seeking salvation and strength. Bestow on your follower the power to defeat their foe.
Bestow on us the power to defend your honor and protect your sacred altar.”
“All hail Lord Balmos.”
“Praise be to the Demon God.”
On the outside, a beam of light descended from the heavens and landed on the church.
“All hail Lord Balmos.”
“Praise be to the Demon God.”
Every last member inside the church felt their strength rise by several levels. The majority of them were Spirit Sovereigns.
However, when the light descended on them, most broke through to the Spirit Lord stage, with five reaching the Heavenly Ascension stage.
In all, there were 100 Spirit Sovereigns, 395 Spirit Lords, and five Heavenly Ascension stage warriors filled with the power of a god.
A rather powerful lineup.
“Kill them all.”
“For Lord Balmos, the Demon God of Destruction.”
The door leading to the church opened, and powerful warriors clad in white surged out.
When the last of them walked out, Veydris appeared from the void and unleashed a powerful sword strike that cleaved through five warriors, ending them instantly.
He retreated the next second. That one attack was to test their strength, which he did, and knew what had to be done.
Veydris raised his sword, and in an instant, a formation appeared. Then, the void cracked, opening a red inner darkness.
From within, a mask appeared.
Veydris grabbed it and placed it on his face. A faint red energy came from the mask and surrounded his body.
His body morphed, and then, instead of a 2-meter-tall figure, a 4-meter-tall metallic man appeared, holding a red sword.
Veydris took on his true form, and with that, he moved.
Meanwhile, Sylara slowly approached the battlefield with her eyes closed.
As she moved, her strength started to surge. She wasn’t breaking through her Core Formation cultivation stage. That was impossible; however, her aura was surging, moving past even Spirit Monarch.
By the time she appeared within 30 meters of the battlefield, her strength had surged to the peak of the Spirit Lord stage.
’I have 12 minutes before I run out. I’d better make good use of these 12 minutes then.’
“Veydris, handle the small fries; I will hold back the big ones.” Sylara’s claws appeared, and like the vampire she was, she clashed with three Heavenly Ascension stage warriors while two stood guard at the only entrance leading to the church.

[Neomi’s POV]
Right when the power of the demon god descended, Neomi felt a seal within her break.
Right when the seal broke, she felt a terrifying power surge into her, instantly changing her into that of Shara, the Mother of Killers.
In that instant, she started to hear the voices of people praying to her.
“Mother of Killers, give me the strength to protect my family.”
“Mother of Killers, please save my child.”
“Mother of Killers, please let me become worthy in the eyes of my in-laws.”
Thousands of prayers flooded her mind, some funny, some extremely important. However, as she looked through a couple of prayers—or, more importantly, the voice behind those prayers—she recognized one.
“Mother of Killers, please save my mother.”
“Mother of Killers, please take me instead and let my mother live. If she dies, my father will be devastated.”
“Mother of Killers, I know you are just and know what to do and when to do it. I don’t blame you for my mother’s death. I still believe in you and know one day, you will answer my prayers and let me meet my mother again.”
Tears fell from Neomi’s eyes when she recognized her sister’s voice.
“Velyra, I am so sorry. I never knew you were counting on me. I really am sorry. However, now that I can do something, even if it costs me my life, I will ensure you are reunited with your mother again.”
Neomi pressed her hands together and was about to answer her prayers when somebody tapped her on the shoulder.
When she turned around, she saw her red-skinned sister, Velyra, smiling at her, tears falling from her eyes.
“It is okay, my sister. You have long answered my prayer by sending Kent to me. That is enough. Don’t hurt yourself over something like this.”
“But—”
“No, my dear sister. Perhaps in the future, when you become a god, you can then answer my prayers, but for now, prioritize your safety.”
Neomi nodded and hugged her sister, shedding more tears.
Vexthra sighed, watching the two sisters from a distance…
’Kent, you must return soon. Your wives need you.’
