Primordial Villain With A Slave Harem - Chapter 1137: Kaede's Dilemma

Chapter 1137: Kaede’s Dilemma
Quinlan laughed, but before the two could lunge at each other, he clapped, and a new hill formed, to which he levitated the two hissing kittens. Before even waiting for them to respond, he rolled the girls out, knowing well that they would force those fiery little heads of theirs to focus once they were back in the fray.
And, indeed, Ayame was right. He didn’t pair them up just for his own amusement. He’d been watching his girls very adamantly and noticed that Iris and Ayame made a strangely effective duo.
Not only were both of them sword users, but they were both harboring an insatiable desire for strength. They were some of the best killers in the group with the most honed senses and reactions, which made it so they could keep up with one another in tense situations.
Sylvaris couldn’t help but smile tenderly as she noted that fireballs fell, siege engines screamed, and a level seventy-two lunatic was trying to murder them with every breath of his being. Yet within the shelter of Luminara’s son, his companions, instead of trembling and running for their lives, were free to bicker like rivals in the schoolyard.
It was a ridiculous contrast, and it only proved the point: her son-in-law was unfairly OP from a versatility point of view. Now, all he needed to do was gain the levels needed so that he could butt heads with the strongest in the realm, at which point his rise would be far beyond her imagination.
“Well, they’re off,” Quinlan chuckled. “Oh, your daughter is about to take some serious damage.”
The serene moon elf’s tender smile instantly vanished. “This humble mother-in-law would be immensely appreciative if a portal were to be opened at her location…”
Quinlan laughed for a moment longer before he did just that, and Seraphiel, together with Kaelira and Shallan, arrived.
The blonde bombshell wasted no time. “Mom, you look like a boiled dumpling. You made me hungry.”
“… I love you too, daughter.”
…
Just like this, the battle continued. As Kaede seemed unresponsive, Quinlan and co were given the chance to wreak havoc using his portal and earth manipulation combined.
Indeed, Quinlan had decided to stop hiding that he could teleport. The cat was already out of the bag as far as the king was concerned, and Quinlan doubted the old bastard wouldn’t notify at least his dukes about its existence. It would be plain stupid not to do so. It was quite likely that even counts and perhaps barons were aware of this ability of his.
As such, if he held back now, all that would achieve is keep the Consortium in the dark—if they were in the dark to begin with. He saw no benefit in doing so; as such, he went all out.
It was good to impress the syndicate and ensure they thought of him as a capable ally rather than someone worth selling out for the bounty on his head.
Of course, Quinlan would still have to be more than wary of the organization. For now, he thought of them as a group who shared similar circumstances to his, but there was zero trust between them. The only syndicate leader he decided to trust, at least to a certain level, was Black Fang.
…
Chizuru stepped through the scattered ranks of Fujimori soldiers as she approached her target. Her usually calm expression was replaced with tension, especially once her sharp eyes found Kaede standing still, unbothered, as the battlefield raged like a storm around her.
The elder bowed slightly in respect, though her voice carried urgency.
“Kaede,” Chizuru began while bowing her head in respect. Her voice carried urgency. “Forgive my boldness, but I must ask why you have not yet given the order to shift our strategy yet? At this pace, our siege engines will be reduced to rubble. Even if our warriors succeed in cutting down those sallying from the stronghold, the walls will remain beyond our reach if we have no siege weaponry, while, at the same time, their mages and defenses continue to bleed our forces despite our numerical advantage. Might it not be wise to deploy our swiftest specialists to restrain Devil before his rampage carves through the heart of our strategy?”
Kaede did not answer right away. Her eyes were fixed on the battlefield, her posture as calm as if she were overseeing a mere spar. She watched the chaos unfold, the arcs of silver constructs, the collapsing siege towers, and above all, the swirling gates that spat out her enemy wherever he pleased.
Finally, she spoke. “It is strange.”
Chizuru frowned. “Strange?”
Kaede’s gaze lingered on Quinlan’s distant silhouette. “He knows I can open portals too; he saw it with his own two eyes. If I wanted, I could cut him down right now before he could react. He’s aware of it, yet he flaunts his location with no caution at all. That is… strange.”
Chizuru’s eyes darkened as her voice sank into a murmur. “Do you think he knows…?”
Kaede did not respond.
Still, she shifted her grip on her katana. “You are right, Elder Chizuru. This cannot continue any longer. Instead of cutting open a gate to him, I will cut one to our allies. Lilith and her team will engage him. They can keep him tangled long enough for us to end this siege properly, if not outright capture him… Especially if that woman comes as well.”
Chizuru’s eyes widened. “But what about the limitation-”
“Losses will be accepted,” Kaede interrupted and unsheathed her katana, which she poised to tear a rift into space itself.
Then it hit.
The world itself seemed to scream. Kaede’s heart shuddered. Her instincts howled at her to move, to survive. An invisible weight pressed down on her, heavy like a mountain, making every nerve of hers alight with dread.
Kaede did not need to look up. She knew.
Only one person could emit such a powerful bloodlust.
Black Fang had arrived.
