Primordial Villain With A Slave Harem - Chapter 1200: Someone's Calling~

Chapter 1200: Someone’s Calling~
The crystal necklace, adorning the unconscious Felicity who was sitting upright on the edge of the bed next to Feng, began to ring. It was a soft, insistent vibration that filled the quiet room.
However, both young ladies showed no sign of hearing the call. Their eyes remained shut.
Quinlan sat in the high-backed chair Princess Felicity had asked him to sit in when he entered. Rosie sat comfortably on his lap, both seated in front of the unconscious girls and studying their faces.
The dryad’s small legs dangled back and forth, and her leafy hair brushed against Quinlan’s chest as she happily swayed on his thighs from one side to the other, then back.
They both watched the necklace buzz and come alight with the call.
For a few seconds, the two looked perfectly innocent. A father and daughter sharing a calm moment.
Then, in perfect sync, their expressions twisted into the same wicked smirk. Two halves of the same thought formed one shared grin. It was as if they were a single living organism.
“Someone’s calling~” Rosie sang, her tone syrupy sweet.
“I wonder who~” Quinlan replied back with a tone he rarely used.
“Sounds like the call of a desperate man to me~”
“Right? The ringing’s slow, probably reflects the age of whoever’s trying to reach us~”
Rosie giggled. “Hehe! Should we pick it up?”
“Let the old bastard ferment in his own thoughts.”
“Daddy’s evil!” she chirped, covering her mouth with both hands as she giggled jovially.
Quinlan’s smile broadened. “What kind of villain would I be if I didn’t let the man who placed a bounty on my head suffer a little?”
Rosie tilted her head back against his chest, angling her face up until her bright eyes met his. They sparkled with warmth and mischief all at once. “I love you, Father… Thank you for creating me.”
Quinlan’s devilish grin softened. He lifted one hand and brushed his fingers through her leafy hair. She closed her eyes instantly, melting into the touch like a content cat.
Closing her eyes allowed the girl to command all her sensory might to focus on the feeling of being petted by the existence she loved most.
“It’s me who should be saying that. Thank you for being such an awesome daughter, Rosie.”
Her lips curled into a sleepy smile as she nuzzled closer, her laughter fading into a quiet hum of happiness.
“You are forbidden from leaving me…” She suddenly added. The little lady’s possessiveness suddenly exploded to the front as she stood on his thigh, turned, and hugged him in full.
Quinlan understood what she meant.
“I am going nowhere. You’re stuck with this arrogant father for the rest of eternity.”
That elicited a tender giggle from the dryad. “Hehe! I wonder what Feng would say when she heard you call yourself arrogant! Whenever she does it, you deny it and call her a rude brat!”
“… You’re forbidden from snitching.”
“I wouldn’t dare!” she decreed, then in a much slyer tone, she added, “Rosie is the best girl ever~”
“…” Quinlan squinted his eyes as she felt mischief in her tone. He leaned down and whispered in her ear, “If you snitch, I’ll snitch as well. Your mothers will learn that you speak like you do because you want to be pampered.”
Rosie froze mid-giggle. Her leafy hair rustled as she turned her head slowly, eyes wide.
“D-D-D-D-don’t you dare!!!” she squeaked. Her entire body stiffened like a startled rabbit. Then, in a blur of motion, she hopped and slammed both hands over his mouth with the panic of someone trying to stop a curse from being cast.
Her eyes were huge and pleading, her cheeks puffed out, and her little legs wobbled in the air with frantic panic. “Do you want to kill me?! Without the pampering of my mothers, I might as well be dead! Evil father!!! Hmph!!!”
Quinlan blinked. Amusement shone in his eyes as her hands pressed tighter against his lips, as if she could physically erase the words from existence.
Rosie leaned in closer until her forehead touched his. “Promise you won’t tell, okay?! Swear it on your daughter’s life!”
He nodded once, still silent under her grip. Only then did she release him with a dramatic sigh, flopping back into his thighs and chest. “Phew… Crisis averted. I must teach Father how to make good jokes because he’s horrible at it!” she muttered, but a small smile betrayed her disgruntled whispering.
The laughter soon returned between Quinlan and Rosie, which then stretched out for minutes. The necklace never stopped ringing. Its dull vibration pressed against the air like a stubborn heartbeat that refused to fade.
Rosie finally tilted her head toward it, still curled in his lap. “He’s still calling. Truly desperate… I wonder what’s going through his head~”
“Let’s find out.”
Quinlan said and reached forward.
By all logic, it should have rejected him. It was a personal relic of Felicity, bound to her by magic, tuned only to her mana signature. Yet when his hand touched it, the light steadied. The Primordial Subjugator did not ask for permission. Ownership was not to be denied from him. What his [Subjugated] people owned, so did he.
The air shifted as he brought it closer. “What do you want?”
Silence answered first.
Then a deep, hoarse breath came through the connection. When the voice finally broke through, it carried weight enough to press against the chest.
It was the most threatening tone Quinlan ever heard Alexios use.
“Why are you the one to pick up? What happened to my daughter?”
Quinlan’s tone remained dry. “I’m training her. She’s occupied right now.”
“Training…?” The old man’s voice scraped with suspicion.
“Yes. So what is it? I’m busy. You’re interrupting my bonding moment with my daughter.”
Rosie folded her arms with exaggerated indignation. “Yeah! I have so many mothers who are clingier than a newborn monkey. Stop interrupting my private time with Father! Hmph!”
There was a pause.
“… My apologies?” Alexios grunted. “Tell me, is my daughter fine then?”
Quinlan smirked. “Yes, she is. Did you think I would hurt her just because you learned of my identity? It was I who allowed you to find out. I am in control.”
“Quinlan Elysiar, the Primordial Villain…” Alexios said those words with immense gravity.
“Yep. That’s me,” Quinlan nodded at the necklace, though the king could not see the gesture.
“… What are you training my daughter in? I hope it’s nothing inappropriate.” Suspicion was still greatly embedded in the king’s voice. It seemed learning his true identity shook the man greatly. Knowing that his daughter was in the hands of the man with such titles must’ve filled him with worry.
Quinlan found it a bit heartwarming, especially compared to the monumental parental failure that Queen Morgana was. He must’ve had a myriad of questions swirling in his mind, but the first thing he did was ask about the safety of his daughter.
The king was a good father.
But that did not make the man his ally.
“What do you take me for? Back when Felicity came here – of her own volition because she hated her bitch of a mother who nearly killed her own daughter just to capture me, by the way – I promised you I’d treat Felicity as if she were my own daughter.”
Silence came from the other end as the king mulled over his words. Then, a reluctant, “Good,” followed.
“Oh. I almost forgot. Your daughter awakened to her Wizard class. And since I promised I’d treat her as if she were my daughter, I want her only the best. The best is me, of course. So I took her under my tutelage. I’m using a secret method of mine to evolve the girl even further. She’ll become something scary if she succeeds.”
“… What?”
