Chapter 612: Playground of Losers, New Goal: Ultimate Chaos
Almond and the gang worked fastest and finished their mining quota after three hours.
They also talked with other miners and got information.
They were currently in Bonesapri Union Territory.
This territory was shared by five Kingdoms, as it was full of mountains, caverns, and was overall filled with rich minerals.
All of their slaves worked here.
Now, there were even slaves of Tier-10 and higher here, which was surprising.
But after the gang gathered and shared the information with each other, everyone got a better picture of this place and of this realm, both.
“So slaves technically don’t die often as long as they do the work they are told, and this layer’s system prevents the owner of the slaves from giving commands that result in their deaths, directly or indirectly,” Ainen said.
“But if we round up the slaves and form a rebellion, it’s wartime. They can kill us wantonly. They got some heavy artillery power to destroy chunks of mountains, so they’ll drop a few here, kill a bunch, open new mining spots, and buy more slaves.” Natalia snickered.
“The kings of these five kingdoms are all Tier-15 to Tier-17,” Almond informed. “Their forces are lower than that, but just to be safe and sure, we should raise our power first. We just got our third deck, so let’s increase its cards at least, and then execute the plan.”
“So just increase the cards to four, but not evolve them?” Ainen asked with a blink.
Almond grinned. “You think we’d need that?”
Ainen grinned. “Nope. Just Tier-15 and 17. They got one more deck than us, and a bit more power, that I can bridge with the buffs.”
“Then I know a good place.”
A rare voice spoke up. Young, but slightly old, like a young man in his early twenties. Slightly deep and energetic.
Everyone looked at Gopu.
He was in his humanoid form, looking just like the voice indicated. He had orange-golden hair like his scales and bright light yellow starling eyes, standing at 5’7 feet tall.
“Oh? Looks like our Gopu found something. Good boy.” Saffa chuckled and patted Gopu’s head.
Gopu’s head slightly lowered while he began growling like a dragon.
And then began speaking. “So there’s a big city that uses slaves as entertainment. We can go there and participate in the Arena. It’ll earn us money to live better while we increase our cards. Instead of slaving here to mine, we can slave there. Here are all slaves who have lost their cards and decks, and are weak as shit, so they can only mine.”
Apparently, even Kings often go there as it’s the biggest entertainment city shared by all five kingdoms.” Almond added with a nod. “I sent Alfred and Benedict to gather news as well. With their and mine stealth arsenal, the surveillance here couldn’t detect us.”
“Nice. I did the same with my Dreadlings.” Lily smiled. “The entertainment city gives us more options to go about changing our position.”
Her smile was turning sharp and dreadful. “Instead of using slaves, we can use the kings and their people to create a war between them. That’s more fun.”
“Oh, I like that.” Clovelle’s eyes shone. “That’s a better idea than using slaves. The more chaos we create, the better for us to swim through and rise.”
“Another piece of information that adds up to our odds,” Almond said. “We are in the bottom plane of reality, the one we saw in the map after we arrived in that white space. This bottom-tier plane is basically a playground of losers. We saw many high-tier people here as slaves because they have lost their cards. Their decks.”
Everyone nodded. They got that information from other slaves.
That was a bit scary in a sense because decks and cards could be stripped away from the system here. How? There were multiple ways, in general, they had to participate in some stupid things that required their deck or cards as bets and lost, then ultimately reduced to being a slave.
“So in this place where the value of life is only taken into account by the system and not the people, the new plan is indeed better. Wars are common here, so we will have some new type of fun by scheming our way out of this position, and for our first title manifestation, we will light this entire playground in fire and make sure every single soul remembers our names before ascending to the middle-tier.”
Everyone stared at Almond.
“Darling~” Lily side hugged and kissed Almond’s cheek. “That’s an amazing plan.”
Natalia grinned. “I would expect nothing less from you two monsters.”
“Well, it looks like this is going to be one hell of a ride.” Saffa laughed. “So are we departing there now?”
Everyone grinned.
“I asked a foolish question, haha. Let’s go. Who is preparing the ride?”
Lily lifted her hand.
A small ripple spread through the air like water disturbed by a pebble.
Then something emerged.
At first, it looked like a shadow.
Then the shadow grew.
A long creature slowly slipped out of the darkness behind Lily like a living whisper.
The Dreadling unfolded itself silently.
Its body resembled a long winged serpent, nearly fifteen meters in length, covered in smooth matte-black scales that absorbed light instead of reflecting it. Its wings were thin and wide like the membrane of a bat, but instead of bone, faint strands of dark energy supported the structure.
“Transport unit,” Lily said casually, patting the creature’s neck.
“Meet Shadeglide. It will make us invisible to both visual and magical senses, and it’s fast. It slips through space.”
“Unless someone is specifically searching with high-tier detection.”
Clovelle pushed her glasses slightly up her nose.
“That should be unlikely here.”
Almond clapped his hands once.
“Well then.”
He jumped lightly onto the creature’s back while taking Lily with him, and sat her on his lap as they both took the forefront position on the creature’s back.
“Taxi is ready.”
The rest of them climbed up shortly after.
The Dreadling’s back flattened slightly, forming a stable platform of dark energy for them to sit or stand on.
Within seconds, the mountain was behind them.
The journey was surprisingly quiet.
The creature moved extremely fast, but the wind resistance around them was none, thanks to how it travelled.
Below them stretched the territory of Bonesapri Union.
From the sky, the region looked even more massive.
Mountains everywhere.
Huge ranges stretching across the horizon, their sides riddled with mining scars and cavern entrances. Some mountains had entire sections carved out, revealing glowing mineral veins running through the rock like exposed arteries.
Mining settlements dotted the valleys between the peaks.
Clusters of slave barracks.
Supply depots.
Extraction towers.
Every now and then, they could see transport caravans moving along the roads below.
Natalia leaned back casually on the Dreadling’s back.
“Two hundred forty kilometers isn’t that far.”
Ainen nodded.
“With this speed, we’ll be there in less than three minutes.”
Gopu stood near the edge of the platform, watching the landscape below with curiosity.
“You see those?” he said, pointing toward a distant mountain ridge.
Everyone followed his gaze.
Several enormous artillery towers were mounted along the ridge.
Each tower was the size of a small fortress, its barrel aimed toward the surrounding valleys.
Clovelle nodded.
“Defense structures.”
Saffa whistled softly.
“So if slaves start a rebellion…”
Natalia finished the sentence.
“They flatten the mountain.”
Almond watched the towers for a moment.
Then he looked ahead. “Yeah, we’ll cause a bigger chaos as we can swim better in it with our arsenal of powers.”
The Dreadling continued gliding forward through the clouds.
And then, after about twenty minutes…
The terrain began to change.
The endless mining mountains gradually gave way to something different.
Lights.
Lots of them.
At first, they appeared like distant stars on the horizon.
Then the shapes of buildings began to form.
Soon, the entire skyline came into view.
The entertainment city.
The city sat in a massive natural basin surrounded by mountains.
But unlike the mining settlements, this place looked alive.
Bright.
Chaotic.
Towering structures filled the valley floor, rising layer after layer into the sky like stacked platforms of civilization. Massive neon-like runic signs glowed along the sides of the buildings, displaying advertisements, announcements, and event schedules.
Floating platforms hovered above the city like artificial islands.
Sky bridges connected entire districts high above the ground.
Energy rails carried transport vehicles through the air.
Crowds moved everywhere.
Even from this distance, they could see the activity.
Music.
Lights.
Movement.
The center of the city was dominated by something enormous.
A colossal circular structure.
The Arena Complex.
It looked like a giant stadium carved from black metal and reinforced with glowing rune rings. Multiple combat arenas were stacked vertically inside the structure, each one surrounded by massive spectator stands.
The seats numbered not in thousands. But millions.
Thousands of viewing platforms.
Above the complex floated giant projection screens broadcasting battles happening inside.
Natalia leaned forward.
“Oh.”
Her grin widened slowly.
“Now that looks fun.”
Saffa sat up.
“Yeah.”
Ainen rubbed his chin thoughtfully.
“That place must print money. This city has easily close to a hundred million people of a wide variety of races. The circle is at least 40 kilometers in diameter.”
Clovelle observed the surrounding districts.
Casinos.
Entertainment halls.
Weapon shops.
Slave markets.
Information brokers.
Everything was packed tightly together like a chaotic playground for the powerful.
Lily guided the Dreadling downward slowly, keeping it concealed within the cloud layer above the city.
“We’ll land outside the main district first,” she said.
“Entering quietly is better.”
Almond nodded.
Below them, the Arena Complex roared with the distant sound of a crowd cheering.
The games had already begun.
And soon…
So would theirs.
