Re-Awakening: I Became a Pay To Win Boss Monster - Chapter 424: A Tie To The Past?

Chapter 424: A Tie To The Past?
“…” Malinali’s brows twitched as she suddenly turned her head away from him.
“Alright, we’ll talk more about this after we’re done here,” she said, crouching down slightly, ready to kick off. “Let’s first deal with the monsters.”
The moment she muttered those words, she shot forward like a bullet, arriving in front of the knights.
They reacted in time by raising their swords, shields, and even bows, but then again, Malinali was double their Grade and nearly 50 times their strength.
So with a single slash, she split the scarlet knights in two, killing them in an instant.
Without saying another word, she pushed forward toward the cathedral, killing every single scarlet knight along the way.
Meanwhile, Rael stood in the back, trying to figure a few things out.
Dragon Force (DF): 400
The rain cloud takes it up to 400. That’s fine. Rael nodded to himself.
Neuro Collapse usually costs 100 DF, but because of his Dragon Heart, he had quite a good boon.
So that 100 turns into 50, and because of that, Rael’s damage would be a bit more overwhelming.
But since he was still adjusting to his powers, Rael decided to take it easy and not overexert himself.
[DF -50 | 350 / 400 (x1 Neural Collapse)]
-100%! [1.485 Quintillion] | Critical Hit x22 (x1 Neural Collapse)
<Ding!>
<+4 Premium Coin Acquired>
<+16 Supreme Beast’s Strength>
<+24 Calamity Agility>
<+52 Fallen God’s Constitution>
<+15 Draconic Intelligence>
<+9 Archangel’s Wisdom>
Of course, Rael lied.
No way am I sitting back and letting Malinali take all my experience, Rael thought with a grin, and without hesitation, kicked off the ground.
His speed had finally reached the maximum, even without using a rain cloud.
At the same time, Draconic Damage scaled pretty well with his Mind Damage increase, and because of that, his damage was increased by nearly 5,000%.
It wasn’t as much as his other skills which had infusions, but Rael was surely going to turn his Draconic Neuroweb skill into the [Plasma] variant.
When that happens, his Neuroweb skill should scale with every single damage increase he has, which, after stacking everything together, should reach roughly a 50,000% damage increase.
Therefore, Rael ran around, killing most of the scarlet knights he could find, while also leaving a large chunk of them to Malinali.
After all, she needed to reach the next Grade, but there was one slight problem.
“Hey…” Rael walked up and tapped her on the shoulder.
Malinali turned around swiftly and wiped the blood off her face before tilting her head. “Yes?”
“How close are you to Grade 5?” he asked.
“I haven’t even leveled up yet… my experience increased by around 0.2%,” Malinali replied, leaving him speechless.
Seriously…? That low?
As if she read his mind, she continued.
“The higher your Grade, the less experience lower-level monsters give you. It’s the same in the Depths. I haven’t been able to level up in years.”
“So you only get experience from monsters that are your level?” Rael asked.
“Mhm.” Malinali affirmed, then swiped her blade sideways, sending a large arc of mana toward the scarlet knights in the distance, decimating them instantly.
“Are all the monsters going to be this weak?” Malinali sighed. “No offense, but this is pretty boring. Also, you really haven’t shown me what you can do, and I’m starting to feel like you’re trying to wait it out until I exhaust my mana, then ambush me.”
“Really?” Rael raised a brow. “Do I seem like that kind of guy?”
“Growing up with pirates tends to make you a bit wary of others,” Malinali said matter-of-factly, her gaze turning distant.
“I used to live in Blazestor, where the desert never ends, or so that was the story all the children were told,” Malinali muttered. “One day, my parents sent me out to grab some porridge from the usual vendor, but… I was kidnapped by a group of pirates.”
“As it turned out, those pirates kidnapped many other children, not just me,” Malinali said. “Anyways… they took all of us to their ships and set sail. I don’t know where they took us, but from the ship’s window, I saw some dark land and many mountains. There were even colossal bones from ancient monsters.”
Hearing that, Rael felt the gears in his mind turning, and a moment later, he recalled something interesting.
Her description of the land reminded him of the Plague Lands, the first place he reached when he entered the Depths.
As for the continent itself, it was called Valheria, and it was ruled over by the Beast, Zarkul.
Even so, he didn’t raise any questions, and instead, he continued listening.
“However, right as we were about to arrive at the shore, a strong wave crashed into the ship, knocking out all the cargo the pirates had been carrying… as well as a few children. I managed to hold onto the leg of one of the pirates, so I didn’t fall.”
As she spoke, she walked closer to the cathedral, killing every single scarlet knight in sight. By now, Rael didn’t even try to kill them, realizing it would just waste his Dragon Force when he could save it for the stronger monsters.
Still…
“Some of us made it out alive, but when we tallied our heads, we realized there was only a single pirate left, so…” Malinali held out the curved blade, and only then did Rael notice how chipped it was.
“I took the pirate’s blade and drove it straight through his chest. I used the levels I gained from him to defend the other children,” Malinali added as they finally reached the giant cathedral door.
She fell silent and didn’t continue with her story, even though Rael wanted to hear more.
I remember seeing a shipwreck when I arrived at the Ruins of Saltmere. I thought it was a merchant ship, but could it have belonged to Malinali?
He had too many questions, but he knew dumping all of them on Malinali right now wasn’t a good idea.
Therefore, he put those questions aside for the time being and approached the massive cathedral door, putting his hand on it.
And without wasting any more time, he pushed with all his strength, swinging the giant door open.
