Chapter 426: Family Jewel Intimidation
“How did you know?”
Rael raised a brow. “Malinali Liesa? No offense, but what kind of name is that? It’s like you didn’t even try.”
“I mean… No, more importantly, what do you mean it’s a bad name? It’s a good name,” Malinali replied with a pout. “I’ll have you know, I was given this name by my sworn sisters. But yes, this isn’t my actual name.”
She sighed, and after a moment, she introduced herself once again. “My real name is Melina Lisea. As it so happened… my sworn sisters’ teeth had fallen out, so they slurred my name pretty badly.”
“They tried saying Melina, but they got Malinali. Instead of Lisea, they said Liesa.” Malinali giggled. “Honestly, I tried correcting them so many times, but not once did they listen to me. Even after their teeth grew back, they kept calling me Malinali Liesa, so I guess I got attached to that name.”
She met his gaze once more. “But since we’re going to be partners, you can call me Melina Lisea.”
Hearing her explanation, Rael couldn’t help but smile slightly.
But there was still one thing that didn’t quite make sense to him.
“Say, if your actual name is Melina Lisea, why does it say Malinali Liesa when I inspect you?”
“Inspect me? You can do that?” Melina asked skeptically.
Rael shrugged. “I’m a bit special sometimes.”
“Right…” Melina nodded slowly, and with a distant look, she spoke. “After a few years on the other continent, I gained enough strength to sail back to Sathmir, so I did.”
“Once I arrived back to Blazestor, I went looking for my parents.” Melina’s gaze darkened. “But as it turned out, shortly after I was kidnapped, they jumped into the sea and…”
Noticing her unwillingness to continue, Rael approached her and placed a hand on her shoulder.
“I doubt you’re seeking my pity, but I’m sorry that happened to you,” Rael said softly.
“It’s fine.” Melina shook her head. “It’s all in the past. Still, because I didn’t have anyone to come back to, and my only family was on the other continent, I decided to use the name Malinali Liesa. The system, or whoever is in control of that strange interface, changed my name after I had made up my mind.”
“I see…” Rael mumbled. “Thanks for sharing.”
He was about to back off, but she suddenly grabbed his hand that had been resting on her shoulder and pulled him closer.
Of course, she didn’t pull him closer for a kiss. Instead, she sat him down beside her and looked at him with a small pout.
“You were about to leave without telling me about yourself, weren’t you?”
Rael raised his hands dramatically. “Yep, you got me.”
Her brows twitched at his sarcastic remark, but before she could call him out on it, Rael continued.
“My name is Rael. As for surnames… You can pick between Altros and Sutekh, it doesn’t really matter.”
“Why’s that?” Melina tilted her head. “You’re married?”
“Of course,” Rael replied with a smug look. “Why? Jealous?”
“You wish.” Melina rolled her eyes. “You said you’re a ruler, so it’s not a surprise you’re married. How many wives do you have? Seven?”
Rael shook his head. “Only one. She’s wonderful, though… I wish I could see her.”
“You can repair my mansion in the blink of an eye, but you can’t see your wife? Did you two have a dispute or something?” Melina remarked. “Unless there’s another reason…?”
“My wife can’t remember me,” Rael replied honestly. “I’m… I’m afraid of talking to her while she has no memory of me. What if she thinks I’m some weirdo who married her in her sleep? I really don’t want to fight against her.”
Although he was being self-conscious, he knew it was just a stupid excuse.
And clearly, Melina thought so as well.
“Well… while I don’t understand what you mean by ‘my wife can’t remember me,’ for someone who claims to not be a pussy, you really are a pussy,” Melina said flatly.
All of a sudden, a massive grin appeared on her face as she stood up and unsheathed her blade.
She pointed it right at his head, causing him to raise a brow.
“What are you doing?”
“If you don’t reach out to your wife now, then I’ll kill you,” Melina replied. “So? How’s that for motivation?”
“Not very original.” Rael sighed. “Good effort though.”
Melina lowered her sword significantly, and this time, a visible bead of sweat poured down his forehead.
“How about a two-for-one special? What do you say? Do you not want children?” Melina asked, inching closer. “Or maybe you’re not the type of guy who wants children…? No, with that face of yours, there’s no helping it.”
Hearing those words, Rael was left with no choice. Still, she gave him the perfect excuse to stop dodging something so important.
He thought he would have some heart-to-heart and tell Melina about his parents and comatose sister. However, Melina’s rashness really showed at the first question.
And the problem is… she isn’t lying about chopping my family jewels off, Rael thought. If anything, she hasn’t said a single lie since we first met… so I’m sure she’d go through with it in a heartbeat.
Therefore, while they were resting before the stronger cathedral sections, Rael was about to do something he hadn’t planned to do for another couple of months, and that was to reach out to Zafira.
He patted the ground beside him, urging Melina to sit down.
And with an eager look, she sat down beside him, stashing her sword away and waiting for him to do something.
“Alright… stay quiet. If you start moaning in my ear or say some weird shit, I’m going to throw you into a wall,” Rael said confidently, and without even waiting for her reaction, he opened his Premium Shop.
