Chapter 430: Fighting The Scarlet Elites
Rael’s body flickered from the opened gate and appeared in front of the Saintess.
Before she could even react, he used his full momentum to punch her straight in the face.
A loud thunderclap resounded as the entire section of the cathedral was suddenly decimated in an instant as the woman was launched into the wall, followed by a single small fish appearing right on top of her head.
-38%! [111.950 quintillion] | Critical Hit!
Yet that wasn’t all, as the sharp chandelier fell from the roof, impaling both the fish and the Saintess straight through the top of her head, down to her heart.
“…”
The gruesome sight made Rael pause for a moment.
But despite that, the black-haired woman extended her hands like a robot and grabbed the sharp tip of the chandelier before yanking it out through her throat.
She seemed completely unfazed, and a moment later, her injuries began to heal rapidly, which in turn finally set the stage for the fight itself.
The Scarlet Champion finally moved, with his katana drawn and ready to split Rael in two.
However, Rael had already seen this outcome with his Foresight, so instead, he waited for the opportune moment, and then, with all his strength, Rael kicked off the ground, narrowly avoiding the slash and activating Phase.
<[Phase] has been triggered!>
His figure flickered once more, this time reappearing behind the Scarlet Champion.
Rael immediately punched the side of the Scarlet Champion’s helmet, caving it in. Then he stepped back just in time to dodge a katana that was aimed for his throat.
-19%! [447.800 quintillion] | Critical Hit!
Yet despite that powerful attack, the Scarlet Champion didn’t budge an inch.
Though the four fish that had spawned were actively working to piss the Scarlet Champion off, so it was a plus in Rael’s book.
But as he was about to continue his attack, Melina finally stepped in, kicking the Scarlet Champion to the far end of the room.
She gave Rael one nod and then followed after the Scarlet Champion. In the meantime, Rael brought his attention back to the Scarlet Saintess, who had been doing nothing but staring at all of them while healing her own injuries.
“You know, you look like someone who could talk, so can you?” Rael asked out of nowhere.
However, the Saintess remained quiet, and instead, he spotted the light coming off the painting around them starting to envelop her with more radiance.
“I’ll take that as a no, then,” Rael added with a sigh and kicked off the ground again.
He arrived in front of the Saintess swiftly, but unlike before, she seemed to be able to somehow react to his speed.
Because of that, she extended her staff and, in the blink of an eye, she thrust it straight through his shoulder.
[HP -33%! Vitality: Tier 7 [67% / 100% HP]
It did a surprising amount of damage, but even so, Rael made sure to pump his Dragon Heart as fast as possible to heal himself.
But he immediately encountered a problem, one that he definitely wasn’t expecting.
<Ding!>
Neither his Blood Blade infusion nor his passive regeneration were working, so out of wariness, Rael stopped his attack then and there before swiftly taking a few steps back and reevaluating the situation.
Or that was the plan, when all of a sudden, the staff that the Saintess had been holding vanished and was replaced by the pitch-black katana that the Scarlet Champion had been using a moment ago.
Even her stance was different, and when he glanced toward the side where the Scarlet Champion was, Rael realized he was now wielding the Saintess’s staff and healing himself all over.
Yet what was more surprising was the fact that Melina wasn’t doing too great either. She had small cuts scattered throughout her entire body, and even one large cut across her right forearm.
Because the healing was disabled, her injuries kept accumulating, and the Scarlet Champion didn’t face the same restrictions.
Before Rael could observe any further, his Foresight showed him a vision of his head being cut off in the next second.
Rael’s eyes widened as he ducked, evading the Saintess’s slash that had come from a distance.
Yet he couldn’t relax just yet, as the Saintess was relentless in her attacks, leaving Rael no choice but to dodge, and no chance to attack at all.
Like that, both sides were struggling, and the longer this fight went on, the more disadvantageous it would be for Rael and Melina.
Therefore, he decided to improvise.
He took a deep breath and focused on his forehead. A moment later, a straight, pitch-black horn sprouted, causing the temperature of the entire cathedral section to drop drastically.
Ice began to form under Rael’s feet, spreading out rapidly, and within a few seconds, the entire room was covered in frost, halting the fighting of everyone present.
But just as he thought it was over, a pulse spread out from the tip of his horn, causing the frost to become even chillier.
And of course, the pop-ups soon followed.
<Ding!>
<3 individuals have been inflicted with: Primordial Fear>
—Final Cataclysm: A single slash dealing Calamity Damage (Scales with the number of people on the battlefield and the fear you inflicted upon them.) Creates a cursed zone that reduces healing by 80% for 10s.
Though the system recommended it and the scaling looked decent, Rael wasn’t sure what the damage would be based off, since it just said Calamity Damage without a base modifier.
Maybe my fists…? Rael thought with a sigh. I guess there’s only one way to find out.
Rael knew that this was as good of a time as any to use this attack and since his Supreme Beast’s Bloodline let him apply sword modifiers to his fists, he could cast it immediately.
Therefore, while everyone was still frozen in place, Rael walked up to Melina and tapped her on the shoulder, snapping her out of it.
“What the…” Melina mumbled with furrowed brows. “What did you do to me?”
“Nothing much, but…” Rael trailed off, glancing back at the two elite monsters who had finally begun to move again.
And coincidentally, they were both in a single line, which was perfect for the skill Rael was about to cast.
So with that in mind, Rael slightly turned his head toward Melina and gave her a thumbs-up.
“For both our sakes, stand behind me for this next attack.”
I swear I’ll try to stick with this cover for like at least a week 😀
Also, do you guys like these kind of technical chapters? Or should I keep most of the calculations in my notes?
