Re-Awakening: I Became a Pay To Win Boss Monster - Chapter 450: Before Them

Chapter 450: Before Them
“Halt,” a soldier’s voice rang out from behind them, yet when they turned around, the soldier froze.
A moment later, the soldier got down on one knee and lowered his head.
“My apologies, Your Majesties. I couldn’t recognize you.”
Rael and Melina exchanged glances before nodding at the soldier.
“So you recognize us as your rulers now?” Rael asked. “What about Ignatiel?”
The soldier shook his head. “You are the rulers of the Hollow Kingdom now, and we must obey you.”
Well… I guess some shit is bound to happen when you’re just about to leave the palace, huh? Rael mused, clicking his tongue.
Melina tilted her head. “Why do you have to obey us?”
“Because that is what we’ve been made to do,” the soldier replied plainly.
“Sure, so can you tell us more? You see, we’re not very familiar with how the Hollow Kingdom works.” Melina pushed further.
The soldier remained quiet for a few moments before finally speaking, his tone cold.
“Long ago… at the Silver Willow Tree, a bargain had been made. The ancient ruler of the Hollow Kingdom had made a deal with the Silver Willow Tree behind the backs of the other rulers.”
The soldier’s voice began to lower, almost as if what he was saying shouldn’t be said. However, he continued anyway.
“We are beings who, after death, serve no purpose. So the ancient ruler of the Hollow Kingdom came up with a plan to make us immortal, allowing us to serve beyond our lifespans. No one is sure of what the ancient ruler offered in exchange for such a deal. Not even his descendants.”
With each word the soldier spoke, his body began to shake more violently, but Rael didn’t tell him to stop. After all, he had no idea how this continent worked, so hearing it firsthand from a puppet soldier was better than nothing.
“Those who die in the Hollow Kingdom territory are automatically revived as a Silver Knights. We are all the same, but some of the Silver Knights managed to retain their previous memories, while some were not as lucky.”
Blood began to trickle down his helmet, and as odd as it was, the blood was completely black.
“I myself did not manage to retain my memories, but despite that, I am sure my loyalty to the Hollow Kingdom would remain true no matter what.”
And just like that, the soldier raised his head, nodding at Rael and Melina.
“So once again… greetings, my rulers. I, a simple Silver Knight, shall tend to your every need, whatever it may be.”
It seemed that was the end of the explanation. He also appeared healthy again, so either the explanation was half-assed, or the soldier was just that resilient.
Even so…
“Thanks for the heads-up,” Rael replied. “But hey, do you think you could gather the soldiers of the entire kingdom into one place? I’d like it if you could get the people there as well.”
The Silver Knight bowed. “At once, Your Majesties. Which area would you like for everyone to gather?”
Melina hummed, then stepped forward. “The city center seems pretty fun. Gather everyone there, and do so as quickly as possible.”
The moment she uttered those words, the Silver Knight bowed once more before vanishing out of sight.
His speed was surprising, though it wasn’t anywhere near Rael or Melina’s speed. For that matter, he wasn’t even anywhere near Chop-E, who was just absentmindedly following them.
From time to time, Chop-E inspected the katana as a small frown appeared on his face. Yet every time Rael turned around to check up on Chop-E, the frown disappeared.
He’s acting way too silly… But I guess he is technically like an hour old… Rael thought, scratching his cheek.
Nevertheless, with the basic stuff sorted out, the only thing left to do was to wait for the monsters to arrive.
But before that, Rael, alongside Melina and Chop-E, slowly made their way over to the central plaza. The only reason they didn’t rush it was because this city had a population of several hundred thousand. To gather even a fraction of that would take way longer than a few minutes.
To avoid the annoying maze, they opted for flying out of the palace. Thankfully, Chop-E was more than powerful enough to walk on the air.
However, when they hovered a few hundred meters above the city, nearly touching the barrier, Rael spotted something a bit strange.
There were so many people roaming the streets that he couldn’t even see the ground. All he could see were the heads of thousands, if not hundreds of thousands, of people walking toward the central plaza.
While the city was large, it was definitely not large enough to hold everyone in the central plaza. Or so Rael thought when, all of a sudden, the buildings surrounding the main plaza retracted into the ground, freeing up space.
Bit by bit, every building retracted into the ground, and when Rael glanced back, he realized the same went for the palace, which sank into the ground as well.
Now, in place of the giant city was a flat land where hundreds of thousands of people were gathered, all walking toward the center.
“Damn… when did they have time to make something like that?” Melina mumbled in an irritated tone. “If I knew something like this was possible, I would’ve hired these people to make retractable farms. Do you know how much money I could’ve saved if giant-ass tsunamis hadn’t wiped my fields?”
“Right…” Rael rolled his eyes. “Maybe try setting your farms up higher next time.”
Melina’s brows twitched. “You… If I could—”
But before she could finish her words, a large platform suddenly rose from the ground in the central plaza, and they could tell immediately that it was meant for them.
“I will do the talking,” Melina reminded him. “Though if you feel like you have something to add, don’t hesitate to chime in, because I’ll be very blunt to these people.”
“Yeah, don’t worry about it,” Rael replied with a chuckle. “If I do intervene, it’s because…”
His eyes widened as a massive grin appeared on his face.
My Dimensional Shop would look really good in the center there… Wouldn’t it?
