Re-Awakening: I Became a Pay To Win Boss Monster - Chapter 453: Affinities [ 1 / 2 ]

Chapter 453: Affinities [ 1 / 2 ]
[Calling me useless like I’m not watching over your mind?] Burger replied with a scoff. [You need to learn how to respect your elders, boy.]
“Yeah yeah, get your ass out here,” Rael said.
In the next instant, Burger manifested himself. However, unlike his usual slime form, he was now a small black puppy with white wings.
“Aw… How am I supposed to take you seriously if you take that form?” Rael complained, his expression softening.
Burger turned his head in disgust. “Pet me and you shall die.”
“Isn’t that a little harsh?” Rael pouted. “But fine, I won’t pet you despite how cute and annoying you are.”
“You do know I’m not actually a dog, right?” Burger asked, concerned.
However, Rael merely shrugged it off, not paying it any mind, which in turn gave Burger a moment to compose himself.
“Very well… I promised to teach you how dragons work. So in a sense, I am now your master,” Burger stated confidently and narrowed his dog eyes. “So from here on, I want you to address me as master!”
“No,” Rael replied right away. “I’ll keep calling you Burger until you’re stronger than me. After that, we can renegotiate.”
“How stingy of you.” Burger rolled his eyes and decided to finally take it seriously.
“So, Rael. What can you tell me about the Dragon Heart?” Burger asked. “Rather, what can you tell me about dragons themselves?”
“A Dragon Heart? I guess it’s just like a normal heart, but made for a dragon. It has superior functions compared to a normal heart, and it can process mana at a faster rate, maybe?” Rael replied, then answered the other question.
“As for dragons themselves… Not sure, honestly. I partially transformed a few times, so I know how Dragon Force and Draconic skills work. But I guess I don’t know much about dragons themselves… Though is it really necessary?”
Burger snorted. “Necessary? If I teach you as you are now, it’ll be like pouring water through a fishing net! The information will go in one ear and come out the other!”
Rael’s brows twitched, but before he could reply, Burger cut him off.
“Now, now. Dragons are ancient creatures by nature. We’ve existed since the second spark of the universe, and… and… We are not lizards!” Burger said, his paws trembling. “We’re dragons! Dragons! Not lizards! Dragons!”
“Then why do you look so similar…” Rael muttered, causing Burger’s brows to twitch.
“Dragons… We made a mistake,” Burger said. “One day, one of the ancient dragons broke through to a high Grade. Because of that, that dragon’s mana was spread throughout the entire universe.”
He puffed an annoyed breath. “Everyone calls it evolution, but it’s just a stupid mutation. The dragon’s mana influenced most animals. Frogs were also affected, and they just so happened to turn into those disgusting lizards that have our scales.”
With those words, he stomped the ground a few times. As for Rael, he was trying his hardest to take Burger seriously, despite his cute stomping.
Finally, Burger finished his tantrum and spoke again.
“Don’t talk about lizards anymore. And no, you don’t know much about the dragons, but for the sake of time, I shall save that explanation for next time.”
He stepped forward and sat down in front of Rael. “Now, Rael. Your explanation about the Dragon Heart, while broad, wasn’t technically incorrect. You’re lacking the fundamentals, but the idea is there.”
“The most important aspect of the dragon is the attuned affinity,” Burger continued. “You should’ve seen that your Dragon Heart would only evolve after attuning to an affinity, yes? Pull up that pop-up now.”
Rael rolled his eyes and did just that.
“You see it?” Burger asked.
Rael nodded. “Mhm. What now?”
“Now you stare at it and tell me what affinity you want,” Burger replied with a scoff.
“You make it sound like I can choose whatever I want?” Rael tilted his head. “Can I choose multiple?”
“You can choose whatever you want, yes. But you can’t choose multiple. Not yet.” Burger shook his head. “You can only choose one. It can be a concept such as Dreams, maybe Nightmares if you wish. It can be Destruction, and it can definitely be Plasma. I’m just listing out the good ones, by the way. Time and Fate are also very interesting… Crystals… They’re cool, but that’s about it.”
He narrowed his eyes. “I once knew a Crystal Dragon. He used to shit crystals on my doorstep and claim they were treasures. Naturally, I annihilated him and his ancestors.”
Rael raised a brow and took a moment to think about it.
There were one too many options here, and Rael wasn’t even sure where to begin.
Therefore, he glanced into his status screen and swiftly accounted for all the possible affinities. Of course, the affinities included the skills he could wield, and the laws were no exception either.
So, after just a few minutes, Rael finished compiling everything.
There were roughly 23 possible affinities in total, which greatly surprised Rael.
However, after taking a moment to check through everything, he chose eleven.
[Beast], [Fear], [Void], [Plasma], [Destruction], [Soul], [Time], [Fate], [Calamity], [Dream], [Nightmare].
There were also a few interesting ones like Demonic, Light, Blood, and Acid. But in the grand scheme of things, the ones he chose were by far the best, and now he had to make the most difficult decision ever.
Alright… Shit… Rael took a deep breath and began narrowing down the ones he wouldn’t pick.
[Plasma], [Destruction], and [Calamity]. All three of them were tied to destructive forces. However, Rael was most comfortable with [Plasma] as he found it the most useful.
As for [Calamity], while it did seem interesting, he knew far too little about it. It was strong, but it also seemed Fear-based. If that was the case, then he was better off taking [Fear] instead of [Calamity].
So after just a few moments, he narrowed down two of the eleven affinities, which meant he only needed to get rid of eight more.
